Road to Survival 5

Chapter 6: Road to Survival 5

Forget it, what if it’s a zombie?

My own life isn’t guaranteed, so I shouldn’t worry about others.

She comforted herself, preparing to drive straight.

Who knew the person inside the car moved, drawing an “SOS” sign with blood on the transparent glass.

His face was pale.

Their eyes met… how did they even meet!

Chu Yian was annoyed, yet she pulled the handbrake.

She clearly wanted to be self-sufficient, but her good education prevented her from completely abandoning someone in need.

Let’s try.

She fumbled around inside the tricycle and found an iron wrench.

While most of the zombies were covered by the tent, she left the tricycle, climbed onto the crashed car roofs, and reached the vehicle where the person was trapped.

This person… was quite handsome.

Even though his face was pale, his eyes downcast, and his white shirt stained with blood, he exuded a fragile, delicate beauty.

Chu Yian paused for a second, then quickly snapped back, “Big brother, were you bitten?”

Although this big brother was handsome, good looks couldn’t feed them.

If he was bitten, Chu Yian would definitely run faster than she came to rescue him.

“No, this is someone else’s blood.”

This… you say it’s someone else’s blood, and it is?

Chu Yian’s already wavering resolve to save him became even more unstable.

The person in the car seemed to be able to see through people’s hearts with his gold-rimmed glasses, “After being bitten by a zombie, you’ll be assimilated in 10-12 seconds.

Didn’t you notice the bloodstains on my clothes are almost dry?

Save me immediately, we still have thirty seconds to escape.”

His voice was faint, yet somehow resolute and forceful.

Chu Yian looked at the wrench in her hand, then slammed it hard against the car window.

With a bang.

The car window was fine, but her tiger’s mouth tingled from the shock.

“This car has been specially modified; external force cannot break it.”

The man reached out and pressed something, and the car’s front windshield slowly lowered, “Now press that red button on the driver’s seat.”

Chu Yian did as he said.

The next second, the man’s seatbelt was unfastened, and a hidden compartment popped out from the car’s roof, containing a handgun.

What kind of car is this, so high-tech?

As an ordinary citizen, Chu Yian, completely unexposed to such things, peered inside.

“Help me up.”

The man extended his hand.

Chu Yian grabbed him and pulled him out with force.

The man frowned slightly, then was pulled out of the car.

This person was very tall.

Broad shoulders, narrow waist, and exceptionally long legs.

But there was also a wound on his left thigh, with broken glass still embedded in it.

Chu Yian’s mind went blank for a moment, and she asked, “This is your blood, isn’t it?”

The man didn’t answer her question, one hand on her shoulder as a human crutch, the other raising his handgun, firing several shots at the zombies breaking free from the tent and rushing towards them.

His aim was precise, every shot hitting its mark.

However, in the quiet urban area, killing a few zombies with such noise would attract countless more.

Chu Yian put away her curiosity, supporting his body and quickening her pace, running rapidly towards the tricycle.

The man continued to clear the zombies in front with his handgun until Chu Yian managed to push him into the tricycle.

The zombies from behind also caught up.

The foremost one grabbed the back of the car, roaring and howling, trying to tear open the thin metal of the car compartment and climb in.

Chu Yian heard the sounds from behind and drove the electric tricycle at its fastest.

The zombies’ legs scraped against the ground, leaving scattered bone and flesh fragments on the road.

She made two consecutive turns before finally shaking off the zombies behind the car.

Oh my god, that was terrifying!

Chu Yian’s lips trembled from the tension of the journey.

“Go straight along this road, then turn after crossing Pingyu Bridge.”

Compared to Chu Yian’s nervousness, the man beside her maintained a single tone throughout.

His calm and steady voice inexplicably made her feel much more at ease.

“Big brother, where are we going in this direction?”

“The suburbs.”

The big brother was a man of few words.

Suburbs—

As the surrounding vehicles became fewer and fewer, finally no more zombies appeared.

Chu Yian stopped her electric tricycle by the roadside, then pulled out two bottles of water, giving one to the big brother beside her.

“Big brother, my name is Chu Yian, a student.

What is your esteemed surname, and are you a teacher at our school?”

“Lu Qingyuan, a researcher, here to give a lecture at your school.”

A researcher?

Judging by the kind of car he was in, he must be a very formidable big shot.

In Chu Yian’s mind, a scenario unfolded: a big shot giving a lecture at the university, coincidentally encountering a zombie virus outbreak.

He was escorted away by bodyguards, but unexpectedly, due to a car crash at the entrance, he became trapped in a zombie horde.

All the bodyguards died protecting him, leaving him alone, confined in the car, awaiting rescue.

Then she, the incredibly brave one, appeared.

And then she rescued him with her electric tricycle… why did the scene suddenly become so low-budget?

Chu Yian looked down at her small electric tricycle, shaking the word ‘low’ from her mind, “Teacher Lu, I heard on the radio that there’s a rescue point in Fulen County, X City.

Would you like to come with me?”

“Hmm, alright.”

Chu Yian had expected him to refuse after she spoke, but she didn’t expect him to agree so quickly, “Teacher, don’t you have any questions?”

“No.”

Teacher Lu was concise.

Chu Yian couldn’t help but look at him twice upon hearing this.

They were strangers, and his trust in her was quite touching.

“Then let’s go to that place to treat your wound, and then find a map to X City and a drivable car.”

Chu Yian spoke of her plan, and then casually asked, “Can you drive?

I only learned to drive not long ago, and my driving skills… still have a lot of room for improvement.”

This room for improvement mainly manifested in her still only knowing how to use the clutch and brake, and being relatively unfamiliar with the accelerator and shifting gears.

“No need to find a map, I know where X City is.”

Lu Qingyuan’s face was pale from his injury, “Just find some anti-inflammatory medicine, alcohol, and tweezers at a pharmacy, then find a car with high ground clearance, suitable for off-roading.”

Listening to him speak, she knew he was a good driver.

And he also knew the location of X City, could drive, had a clear mind, and was good at shooting.

Chu Yian felt that her newly acquired companion seemed very reliable.

As for medicine… she recalled what she had brought from her dorm when she left that morning: only a few milliliters of alcohol and half a box of amoxicillin remained.

The most abundant was Montmorillonite powder, which seemed to be for diarrhea.

So, a pharmacy was still necessary.

After passing through the suburbs, following Lu Qingyuan’s directions, they successfully drove into a small county town.

The roads and shops were all deserted, and the small streets were filled with crashed vehicles.

Garbage was scattered everywhere, occasional remains were visible, and the air was filled with the scent of blood….
