Chapter 198: So Wild—I Like It
A Mang jerked his head up, his handsome, thin lips—moistened with water—parting wide in shock.
The next moment, A Mang burst into hearty laughter. “Axi—Axi, I like you so much!”
One sentence from Nan Xun instantly ignited the dry grass inside the stone cave.
Neither of them remembered how it started. One thing led to another—heavenly thunder stirred earthly fire, and earthly fire drew in heavenly thunder.
Outside the cave, birds chirped and insects sang, floral scents filled the air. Inside, passion flared, sweat-sweet heat overflowing.
Nan Xun made A Mang truly understand what “a wild little leopard” meant. He loved it so much he almost wanted to die on her.
“Axi, you’re so wild—I like it!”
A fiery bout between a little wild leopard and a saber-toothed rogue tiger played out, until the two beasts vaguely heard their tribespeople calling from afar. The saber-toothed rogue tiger bit down hard a few times all over the little leopard, leaving strings of bite marks, then—still not quite satisfied—called a halt and withdrew.
“Axi, wait for me. I’ll come find you again!” A Mang hurriedly tossed out the line and left. This time he didn’t forget his animal-hide apron. Even though there weren’t many people in the jungle, wandering around completely naked was still inconvenient—though admittedly cool.
A while later, another distant shout came from outside the cave. “Axi, I’m taking this big snake with me—consider it a gift from you!” His voice brimmed with delight.
After that, Nan Xun didn’t hear A Mang again. He had probably run far away.
Nan Xun scrubbed her face hard. A Mang had already helped her put her apron and wrap back on. She was now limp as mud, sprawled on the dry grass, not wanting to move.
But as the voices in the distance drew closer, she still limped out of the stone cave.
Once her legs weren’t quite so weak, Nan Xun broke into a light jog.
She ran back to the spot where she’d separated from Chuxue. Two back-baskets were still standing there—one was Chuxue’s, filled with various wild fruits; the other was hers, holding the salt stones Chuxue had found.
Nan Xun plopped down on the ground and called out weakly, “I’m here—”
Little Eight suddenly chimed in, “Darling, you’re already… done?”
Nan Xun stared at the sky and rolled her eyes. “What, you wish it had lasted longer? As it is, my legs don’t even feel like mine anymore.”
Little Eight snickered shyly. “Well, you were pent up in the last world, so I was hoping you’d enjoy yourself. I didn’t expect you to be this wild this time… ahem. Still, that guy really was handsome, and his body was top-notch.”
Nan Xun: …
Damn it—he made it sound like she was unbearably thirsty.
“Axi—” a man’s voice called from afar. It sounded familiar.
“Huh? From when Chuxue ran back to when the tribe arrived, it should take at least two and a half hours. How did they get here in just over an hour?”
No sooner had Little Eight finished speaking than a tall man came running up.
“Axi, are you okay?” A Yu frowned as he looked at her. When he noticed the venomous snake’s bite marks on her thigh, his brow furrowed even tighter.
He squatted down and motioned for Nan Xun to climb onto his back.
Nan Xun recalled the soul-melting feeling of having her legs spread earlier and shook her head hard. “No need! My legs are fine now—I can walk myself!”
Little Eight couldn’t help snickering. “Heehee, serves you right for going wild—overdid it, huh?”
A Yu’s expression darkened. “Axi, don’t force it. You need to go back and rest.”
As he spoke, he moved to hoist her onto his back.
Panicking, Nan Xun blurted out, “If you really have to help me, don’t carry me on your back—change the position! Carry me, lift me, whatever!”
A Yu looked at her strangely for a long moment, then finally scooped her up in his arms.
Nan Xun felt a bit awkward. Even though people in ancient times were open-minded, a man carrying a woman like this usually happened only between two people with mutual feelings.
The atmosphere grew a little awkward. Nan Xun let out a dry laugh and tried to make conversation. “A Yu, where are the others? Why did only you come?”
A Yu glanced at her and explained, “They’re on the way. I run faster, so I came ahead.”
Nan Xun hummed in acknowledgment and fell silent.
After a long pause, A Yu suddenly said, “Chuxue said you saved her. On her behalf, thank you.”
Nan Xun waved her hands. “No need, no need. I’ve always treated Chuxue like a little sister. I’m stronger than her—it’s only right that I take care of her.”
Nan Xun felt her attitude was perfectly proper, nothing to fault. Yet she couldn’t understand why, after hearing this, A Yu’s gaze grew even more complicated and strange.
“Axi,” A Yu suddenly called.
“Hm?” Nan Xun looked at him, puzzled.
“Do you really… like me that much?” A Yu frowned slightly.
Nan Xun nearly spat out a mouthful of blood.
Seriously? How did this guy come to that conclusion?
Thinking he’d misunderstood something, Nan Xun explained earnestly, “I don’t like you anymore. Really.”
She didn’t say she’d never liked him—after all, the former Axi truly had.
However, A Yu didn’t listen. He continued on his own. “If you insist on being with me… I can speak to the chief. You saved Chuxue’s life—that’s a debt she and I owe you. I’m willing to take care of you.”
Nan Xun: …
What the hell—was this guy sick?
Nan Xun struggled free and jumped down, stamping her foot hard. “Look, I’m perfectly fine! Chuxue applied herbs earlier, so I’m already healed. I don’t need repayment—really!”
With that, she hurried off. She’d already heard her brother’s voice. It was better to regroup with normal people as soon as possible.
Nan Xun thought A Yu had understood her meaning. But that evening, her father summoned her. Present were her brother, A Yu, and Chuxue.
Chuxue’s eyes were a little red. She didn’t look at Nan Xun, keeping her head lowered.
A Yu’s expression was solemn, as if he’d just made some grand decision.
“Father, what is it?” Nan Xun asked, bewildered.
The chief patted his daughter’s head and said kindly, “Axi, A Yu just spoke to me. He’s willing to take care of you. Although the tribe rules say an adult man can only have one woman, A Yu is different. He’s the tribe’s greatest warrior and will eventually succeed me. Having two or three women is normal. It’s just that Chuxue doesn’t agree to be secondary while you’re primary, so you’ll have to share equal standing.”
Nan Xun opened her mouth and snapped her gaze toward Chuxue.
The beautiful girl kept her head down, not daring to look up.
Nan Xun glared at A Yu in anger and demanded coldly, “Was this your idea?”
A Yu nodded solemnly.
Nan Xun laughed in anger. “A Yu, what do you take me for?”
A Yu frowned in displeasure. “Axi, don’t go too far. Chuxue came to me first—I can’t wrong her by making her secondary.”
Nan Xun: …
