Chapter 197: Why Not Take It Off Again
Nan Xun’s mouth twitched, and without meaning to, she bit her tongue.
She hurriedly stood up, hopping on one foot—hop, hop—awkwardly bouncing forward.
Not far behind her, a low, muffled chuckle suddenly sounded.
Nan Xun hopped even faster, but she didn’t notice a thick tree root bulging up from the ground. In the blink of an eye, she was tripped.
Just as she was about to face-plant spectacularly, a strong arm suddenly hooked around her waist and yanked her back.
The next moment, Nan Xun felt her body go light—she had been scooped up in the man’s arms.
She cried out in surprise, instinctively wrapping her arms around the man’s shoulders.
…It was that rogue savage.
Because of the way she was being carried, all she had to do was lift her head to see the man’s profile. He happened to turn his head to look elsewhere, exposing the back of his head.
Nan Xun didn’t know what she saw, but her gaze locked onto him, unblinking.
Her eyes grew hot, brighter and more sparkling than before, as if countless stars were scattered within them.
The savage lowered his head to look at her. A glint flashed through his wild eyes, and a wicked smile curled at his lips.
“Now you can’t even walk. Let’s see where you’re going to run this time.”
Nan Xun didn’t speak, just stared at him.
This savage was really handsome—more so than last time. The kind of rugged, feral handsomeness.
Seeing that she wasn’t saying anything, the savage’s thick, sword-like brows knit together. His gaze dropped straight to her thigh.
“Little wild leopard, were you bitten by a venomous snake?”
His eyes swept around and landed on the snake Nan Xun had killed. He whistled.
“Little wild leopard, did you do this? This is the first time I’ve ever seen a woman kill a venomous snake on her own.”
Nan Xun was almost struck dumb by his form of address.
Little wild leopard? Why not just call her little wild cat while he was at it?
“Little wild leopard, my name is A-Mang. I told you last time—did you forget?” the savage said. As he spoke, he set Nan Xun down, wrapped the venomous snake around his waist, and then picked her up again.
Nan Xun coughed lightly. “I remember, I remember.”
A-Mang took one look at her and knew she was lying. This little wild leopard had really forgotten him.
Irritation flared in his chest.
“I think about you every day, you little wild leopard, and you forget me completely. You woman!”
Nan Xun quietly curled up in his arms. Suddenly she smiled at him—a dazzling, sweet smile—and softly called out, “A-Mang.”
That single call made A-Mang feel like his heart had melted. He pressed his lips together and decided not to pursue the matter of her forgetting him.
“Little wild leopard, you still haven’t told me your name,” A-Mang said.
Nan Xun’s lips curved. “My name is A-Xi.”
A-Mang kept repeating her name, his eyes lighting up.
“Little wild leopard, your name sounds so nice. A-Xi, A-Xi…”
A-Mang carried Nan Xun into a cave. It seemed to be a temporary dwelling—inside it was rather bare, with a rough layer of dry grass spread on the ground. Nearby were several freshly skinned animal hides, still carrying the lingering scent of blood.
He set Nan Xun down on the pile of dry grass, then crouched and began gently licking the wound on her thigh.
Nan Xun’s thigh jerked, then her whole body trembled. She stammered,
“You—you you you—what are you doing?!”
A-Mang only lifted his head slightly to glance at her, then continued. After a moment, he sucked hard at the spot where the venomous snake had bitten her, then spat a mouthful of blood onto the ground.
Nan Xun hissed. “Be gentler!”
A-Mang replied indistinctly, “Can’t be gentle. I have to suck all the poisoned blood out.”
Nan Xun’s heart was pounding like crazy.
Damn it, this is killing her—so itchy, so itchy. That’s her thigh, her thigh! A little further in and it’d be right at the inner thigh.
She didn’t know if it was just her imagination, but she felt like this bastard was inching closer and closer inward as he sucked.
Nan Xun grabbed his hair and yanked him up. Her face was flushed bright red.
“No need to suck anymore, I’m already fine!”
A-Mang’s handsome face suddenly filled her vision. His lips hooked into a teasing smile.
“Really don’t need it anymore?”
Nan Xun didn’t retreat. Looking at this rogue savage smiling so smugly in front of her, she suddenly asked, “Hey, man—are you into me or what?”
The smile on A-Mang’s lips spread wider, handsome and captivating.
“Yeah, A-Xi. I want to have babies with you—lots and lots of little cubs.”
Nan Xun: “…”
This prehistoric guy’s way of expressing affection was really… direct.
“A-Xi, you pulled my hair—it hurts. Can you let go first?” the rogue savage said.
Only then did Nan Xun remember she was still gripping his hair. She released her hand.
The moment she did, A-Mang pressed himself down on top of her.
“You’re heavy—get up,” Nan Xun hurriedly pushed at him, but the big hunk on top of her didn’t budge an inch.
“A-Xi, come with me,” A-Mang said as he leaned in and rubbed his cheek against hers.
Nan Xun was stunned by his completely matter-of-fact shamelessness.
“A-Xi, come with me. Be my woman. I’ll make sure you’re the best-fed and warmest-clothed woman in all the tribes,” A-Mang said again, his breathing already growing ragged.
Nan Xun thought for a moment, then shook her head.
“If you like me, go to my tribe and formally propose to my A-Da. I have an A-Da and an elder brother. I can’t just run off with you.”
A-Mang was a bit confused. Words like “propose” and “elope” were completely foreign to him, but he more or less understood—she wanted him to talk to her A-Da and brother before taking her away?
A-Mang thought this little wild leopard’s way of thinking was strange. Who kidnaps a woman and then goes to inform her tribe first? That was just asking to get beaten.
Women were extremely important in the tribes—especially in hers. From what he’d observed, women were scarce there. They’d never allow an outsider to take one of their women away.
A-Mang didn’t want to worry about all that. He decided to secure the woman first.
So while getting handsy, he also got mouthy.
“A-Xi, last time you stole my loincloth. Did you sniff it at the tip of your nose every night before sleeping? A-Xi, does my scent smell good?”
Nan Xun was dumbfounded.
Holy crap, this guy had no shame at all!
A-Mang continued shamelessly, “A-Xi, when you took off my loincloth, you saw everything. Did you like it? Am I better than all the men in your tribe?”
Nan Xun: “…”
Her face was burning red. She tried calling out to Little Eight, but Little Eight had very considerately shut off its five senses, so there was no response.
The best way to deal with a rogue was to fight poison with poison.
So, blushing fiercely, Nan Xun said the boldest, hottest words she’d ever spoken in her life:
“I’ve already forgotten. Why don’t you take off the loincloth and let me have another look?”
