Chapter 4: Promotional Flyer
Xiao Xiao was sizing up Bai Cha.
The girl was so frail she looked like a gust of wind could blow her over. Her face was flushed with a sickly red at the moment, clearly still ill.
In this situation, if she was still a newbie, entering the instance was practically suicide.
If Bai Cha was indeed a newbie, then she was very clever.
“I am,” Bai Cha said softly, “My skill allows me to modify my level once.”
Xiao Xiao frowned. What kind of useless skill was that?
Oh, it was useful for Bai Cha this time. But overall, it was almost as useless as chicken ribs.
She didn’t doubt that the skill had a problem. Skills were part of the game, generated based on the individual, varied and diverse, anything could exist.
“You’re fairly smart, otherwise, looking like this… never mind, let’s find clues first. In horror instances, you can usually find some information written on paper.”
Xiao Xiao was already checking things while she spoke.
Bai Cha sat down on the bed and opened the bedside table drawer. There was indeed a flyer inside.
“Is this it?”
Xiao Xiao walked over and checked it with her.
The front of the flyer had a background of densely packed high-rise buildings. Behind the first few buildings was a huge statue, as tall as these dozens-of-story buildings.
The statue seemed to be a Buddha statue, but it carried a sinister aura, exactly the same as the statue at the front desk and the one Bai Cha had seen before entering the game.
“By the way, you said earlier that the clues were related to the statue. What was your dream in the pre-instance notification?” Xiao Xiao asked when she saw the statue.
“It was the same as on the flyer. I don’t know what the clues are,” Bai Cha coughed softly twice.
Xiao Xiao seemed thoughtful.
“Then you are quite smart, but your body looks…” A hint of disdain flashed across Xiao Xiao’s eyes.
“Try to exercise more after we get out.”
With that, she flipped the flyer over and looked at the back.
Bai Cha was extremely dizzy and didn’t try to snatch the flyer to look for clues. Instead, she lowered her head and touched her forehead.
It was too hot. She didn’t even feel cold anymore.
It must be 39 degrees Celsius.
Bai Cha’s eyes felt dry and burning. She stood up.
Xiao Xiao was engrossed in the words printed on the flyer. Seeing her head towards the bathroom, she subconsciously frowned.
“What are you doing?”
“I’m going to get some water to wipe myself down. I have a fever, my temperature is too high,” Bai Cha said with difficulty. She was already feeling a bit faint hearing Xiao Xiao speak.
Xiao Xiao immediately frowned in disgust. Getting sick in an instance? Seriously?
“Logically, you shouldn’t get sick after entering an instance. Unless there’s a special reason, like involving the game’s rules…”
Having said that, she subconsciously looked at the flyer in her hand.
“Don’t go yet. Finish reading what’s on here first. There’s a rule involving the bathroom,” she pointed to a line of small print out.
[6. If you find that the water in the bathroom has turned red, do not panic. Turn off the faucet and use the landline phone in the room to contact the guest-house for assistance.]
It was a bit difficult for Bai Cha to read, but her years of being sick had made her used to it. Otherwise, her brain really wouldn’t be able to function.
She looked at the other rules again.
[Guest-house Rules: Guests must abide by the rules]
[1. There is no front desk in the guest-house. If you find a front desk appearing, do not make a fuss. Please contact the guest-house via the landline phone in the room for assistance.
- The guest-house has three floors. If you find an extra floor, please walk backwards down to the first floor and then go upstairs again.
- The guest-house is very quiet at night. If you hear strange noises disturbing you, it must be your imagination. Please do not disturb anyone.
- The guest-house has a kitchen. The meat in the kitchen is very fresh. Please feel free to eat it.
- The guest-house does not have a public bathroom, only private bathrooms in each room.
- If you find that the water in the bathroom has turned red, do not panic. Turn off the faucet and use the landline phone in the room to contact the guest-house for assistance.
- The key to the guest-house’s main door is at the front desk. If you find that opening the door with the key reveals a Buddha statue, please close the door immediately and do not go out.]
Bai Cha touched her swollen tonsils and handed the flyer back to Xiao Xiao.
“I’ve finished reading. I’m going to wipe myself down to cool off.”
Xiao Xiao hesitated for a moment, then stood up as well.
“Then I’ll go with you. You really need to exercise, you’re too useless.” Her face still showed disdain, but she quickly stepped forward to open the bathroom door for her.
Bai Cha paused, then just gave Xiao Xiao a grateful smile.
The bathroom was quite ordinary. Bai Cha turned on the faucet, and the water wasn’t blood-red. There was also hot water.
She directly wet an entire bath towel with warm water and first wiped her exposed arms and legs, then her forehead, neck, behind her ears, armpits, and palms. Finally, without changing expression, she lifted her dress, took off her shoes and socks, and wiped her thighs and the soles of her feet.
However, while doing this, she still glanced at the comments.
[Your current behavior involves personal privacy. The camera has been blocked for you.]
The screen only showed a line of red text and a black screen.
Bai Cha felt a little relieved. Thankfully, this livestream didn’t broadcast everything.
However, the comments were still mocking her.
[Speechless, with such a bad body, why not just reveal your identity and let Brother Cai give you a quick death?]
[Laughing to death, she’s just lucky to have met a saintly player, and her skill just happens to be able to change her level. But what’s the use of that skill anyway?]
[Alright, moving on to watch someone else.]
Xiao Xiao stood aside with her arms crossed, her brows furrowed so tightly they could probably pinch a fly to death.
Bai Cha was so skilled at it, she must be a sickly person. How long could she survive in an instance like this?
After wiping herself down, Bai Cha originally wanted to wet another towel to put on her forehead. But after hesitating, she didn’t turn on the faucet again.
Mainly, even if the water in the faucet was fine, putting it on her forehead would mean she had to lie down.
This place looked very dangerous, so she decided against it. The evaporating moisture would take away some of the surface temperature, and she estimated it could at least bring her fever down to 38.5 degrees Celsius.
That would have to do.
She couldn’t keep Xiao Xiao waiting forever either.
Xiao Xiao didn’t say anything about letting her rest and surveyed the room.
Besides the flyer, there was nothing else.
“Let’s go, we’ll go take a look outside.”
Bai Cha nodded obediently.
Xiao Xiao hesitated, wanting to say something, but finally shook her head.
Forget it, helping her a little was already her kindness. Whether she could survive depended on herself.
So delicate and sick, with an overly obedient and simple personality, it was a pity for her life.
But in this game, whose life wasn’t constantly hanging by a thread?
Walking out of the room, Bai Cha finally saw their room number.
There were a total of nine rooms on this floor. To their left, at the end of the corridor, was room 305, opposite was 304, and to the right was 307.
At this time, the door to 307 was also open, and the players who came out were Zhong Man, the C3, and the ponytail girl, the B9.
As soon as Zhong Man saw Bai Cha, he subconsciously stopped.
Bai Cha smiled at him in a friendly manner.
Because of her illness, her eyes were already red-rimmed, and her gaze seemed to have a layer of mist over it compared to usual.
Zhong Man pursed his lips and turned his head away.
Bai Cha didn’t mind. She was just used to pretending. After all, her weak body was an unchangeable fact.
So why couldn’t she use it as a weapon?
She asked softly, “Did you find any clues?”
