Chapter 198: Lucky Items and the Ice Giant
Su Ning looked at little Oleni, who was playing quietly in the space.
“This doesn’t make sense… I’ve already left the ‘Witch Hunt’ instance. Little Leni should’ve been restricted by the instance’s power and unable to come with me!”
Su Ning was confused.
She then used the Scavenger’s Eye to check Oleni’s information again.
There wasn’t much change in the data, except for one new line under status:

Note: Recognized as family, thus allowed to leave the instance!
Su Ning: “…”
Covering her face, Su Ning muttered, “I’d better not let anyone restore their memories in the future. The cost is terrifying!”
Little Oleni had no idea that years of brainwashing had led him to recognize this kind of person as family.
Since it couldn’t be changed, Su Ning didn’t dwell on it.
Right now, her focus was surviving in the “Absolute Zero” instance and completing the assigned tasks.
“First, I need to sort out my gear. The temperature outside is clearly too much for what I’m wearing now!”
The temperature in the Absolute Zero instance was even more extreme than the coldest conditions in the real world.
Naturally, Su Ning took out her cold-resistant gear.
It was a miner’s suit crafted and modified by Unit 5.
Collected from a space mining field, these suits were extremely effective against both extreme cold and heat. After Unit 5’s weaving and enhancements, Su Ning didn’t need to wrap herself up like a ball anymore.
She could move around the instance freely and efficiently.
With everything in place, Su Ning finally had time to check the items Li Ming had traded to her.
“If these items aren’t good, I’m definitely going to use my innate curse ability on him!”
She picked up the two items—one looked like a circular disk, the other was a pair of dice.

Lucky Spin: There are 12 levels total. Spin the compass, and you’ll receive the corresponding luck value based on where it lands. (The higher the number, the greater the luck.)
(Note: Can only be used once a month! Has no effect on those with “Great Fortune” talent! The luck lasts for one week!)

Fate Dice: The higher the number rolled, the better the outcome; the lower the number, the worse the outcome!
(Note: Use with caution—could be fatal!)
Both items were excellent in effect, but for someone like Li Ming, they were virtually useless.
Take the Lucky Compass for example—Li Ming had the [Super Luck] talent and was practically a walking fortune magnet. He had no need for an item to increase his luck.
To him, the compass was more of a burden. No wonder he handed it over.
But for Su Ning, this item was a godsend.
“If I can boost my luck even a little, that’s still an improvement.”
At the moment, Su Ning desperately needed something to boost her luck. The Lucky Compass came just in time.
As for the Gambler’s Dice, it was a double-edged sword—great if the number was high, disastrous if low.
“As expected of a gambler’s tool. It really is a gamble!”
After reviewing both items, Su Ning was somewhat satisfied.
Li Ming was spared from her curse—for now.
Su Ning stepped out of her space. As far as her eyes could see, the surrounding area was filled with eerie, bone-chilling glaciers. Without hesitation, she pulled out the Lucky Compass and activated it.
The pointer on the compass spun wildly like a runaway horse, and Su Ning eagerly watched to see what level of luck she’d get.
The pointer spun at lightning speed and gradually began to slow. Just as it looked like it would land on the highest value—12—Su Ning’s face lit up with joy.
But in the final moment, the pointer stopped right between 12 and 1, leaning clearly toward the 1.
Su Ning’s smile instantly froze.
She had gained a short-term luck boost with a value of 1.
“Seriously, my luck is atrociously low.”
Any thoughts of trying the Gambler’s Dice vanished instantly. With luck like this, she’d probably roll the lowest possible number and die on the spot.
Putting everything away, Su Ning set out to complete her tasks in the Absolute Zero instance.
The mess Li Ming left behind was truly overwhelming.
“Ratatatatata!”
A barrage of gunfire echoed through the air.
A giant that looked like a walking iceberg fell to the ground, lifeless.
Su Ning, bundled in heavy clothing, stood nearby.
The cold air was exhausting. Even with plenty of warm gear, it still wore her down. Fortunately, she had Unit 1 to handle most of the monster-slaying.
Thanks to its Bulletstorm talent, Unit 1 had unlimited ammo.
The massive monster before her was easily brought down by Unit 1.

A massive Ice Giant—no wonder Li Ming couldn’t defeat it. The sheer size and the snowstorm ability made it impossible to approach.
Only ranged attacks were viable. Even for Su Ning, taking it down would’ve been a challenge. Her Petrification effect wasn’t very effective on creatures this large.
Poison was useless too, as it would simply freeze.
Just one Ice Giant was already giving her a headache.
“Thank goodness I have Unit 1.”
Unit 1 went all out, using both extermination-grade firearms and other fire-based weapons. With overwhelming firepower, the Ice Giant couldn’t hold out for long.
It finally collapsed.
Su Ning walked up to its corpse.
Even in death, the Ice Giant’s body emitted extreme cold.
The gloves she was wearing instantly froze over with a layer of frost.
“Didn’t expect the corpse to still have such intense freezing effects.”
The Ice Giant’s entire body was composed of ice elements. Upon death, it turned into a frozen crystal.
Su Ning had no intention of wasting it.
Ice was a valuable resource. Even though the real world was still in a deep freeze, that would eventually pass.
She had to prepare ahead, stockpiling ice crystals just in case.
Plus, ice had many uses—from daily necessities to gourmet cooking.
Instead of collecting ice in the real world, Su Ning looked down at the crystalline body of the Ice Giant—it looked just like a piece of art.
“According to the Scavenger’s Eye, Ice Giant corpses are purer and cleaner than regular ice.” With that, Su Ning didn’t hesitate and began collecting the corpse.
Thanks to her expansive planting space, storing something this massive wasn’t an issue.
She directly tossed the Ice Giant into her Scavenger’s Backpack.
At this point, her backpack had basically become a corpse storage unit.
Zombie corpses, Ice Giant corpses—and likely more useful ones to come.
Though she’d found an Ice Giant, the other two monster types for her mission hadn’t shown up yet.
Still, with more than three days left, Su Ning wasn’t in a rush.
The softly falling snow acted like white noise, calming her heart.
Then, she entered her private space to prepare lunch.
After freezing outside, hot food was a must.
Hotpot was the perfect choice.
