What?! I Became the Zombie Beauty in the Villain’s Arms – CH65

Willing

Chapter 65: Willing

This man!

He was definitely still brooding over what she had said the night before.

What she had said made perfect sense, so why did he have to keep bringing it up? Logically speaking, a powerful leader like him should see things much more clearly and deeply than she did. After all, he was the ultimate boss who could completely crush the main characters in both intelligence and strength during the early stages of the story.

Pei Xiqing pouted. “That’s different. I was just talking out loud. Are you really taking it seriously now?”

Duan Xiaolin carried her into the room, pushed open the door, and set her down on the edge of the adjacent desk. Keeping his hands firmly around her slender waist, he murmured, “I feel the same way. In fact, you’re the one who is truly cruel.”

Pei Xiqing wrapped her arms tightly around his neck, refusing to let go. She intentionally raised her voice, playing up the drama. “Your Honor, that is completely unfair! How could I ever be cruel to you? I love you the most, and I can’t help but feel terribly sorry for you.”

The man’s eyebrow arched slightly. “Is that so? Then show me. How exactly are you feeling sorry for me?”

Pei Xiqing leaned forward and pressed a quick, firm kiss against his cheek.

“Those corrupt officers deserved exactly what they got,” she said with a wave of righteous anger. “They brought it entirely upon themselves. If they hadn’t committed those horrible crimes, why would you have punished them? Don’t you agree? They have so many innocent lives on their hands. A blood debt must be paid in blood. It’s only right.”

“I didn’t mean I wanted you to feel bad about them,” he noted calmly. “Power, politics, greed, and old ways of thinking have always been at war. Those factions refuse to believe that someone without a superpower can truly change the order of this world. It’s the same everywhere.”

“But when I watched you deal with that criminal in the water dungeon last time… you don’t actually have a superpower right now, do you?”

“That wasn’t an elemental power.”

“It doesn’t count?”

“You haven’t seen what a real superpower looks like yet.”

“I certainly haven’t,” she admitted. The strength of a true, top-tier ability user was exactly as the book described—capable of single-handedly tearing through a massive army of zombies. In fact, the male protagonist, Xiao Yue, would eventually be worshiped like a god because of his power.

But ever since she had transmigrated into this world, she had been plagued by the zombie virus day in and day out. She was lucky enough just to keep herself alive. It was always Ling Lang and the others who went out to slaughter the hordes. At most, she had only seen Ling Lang use his fire powers to dry her damp clothes. She hadn’t seen much else.

Pei Xiqing idly twirled a strand of the man’s hair around her finger. “What were you like back when you still had your powers? It’s a shame I missed it. I really hope you can regain them someday…”

“Why would you say that when you have no idea what I was like back then?”

“It’s just a guess,” she said seriously, looking into his eyes. “But whether you have a superpower or not, I think you are an incredibly powerful person. You’re emotionally stable, and you’re someone who can bring real hope to others.”

After all, just any random person couldn’t handle being the Chief Judge.

“Hope…” Duan Xiaolin repeated the word slowly, as if testing it. “How strange.”

It was the first time in his life he had ever heard someone describe him that way. In private, people used countless terrible words to curse him, and everyone lived in absolute terror of his shadow. Though Pei Xiqing wasn’t trying to flatter him, he genuinely liked hearing it from her.

Duan Xiaolin leaned down and kissed her lips. “I hope you get to see it one day.”

“What does that mean? Is there actually a chance you’ll get your powers back?”

“I don’t know.”

Duan Xiaolin’s hands had already slipped her pajama jacket off her shoulders. He leaned in, pressing a warm kiss against the snake tattoo scoring her chest.

“If a miracle truly exists…”

He didn’t finish the sentence, leaving the true meaning of his words a mystery.

Pei Xiqing shivered as the cool indoor air hit her bare skin. Suddenly, the thin iron chain she had chosen was wrapped gently around her smooth arms, feeling like a sleek animal crawling across her skin.

Goosebumps broke out across her body instantly. She reached out, trying to push against his chest.

Duan Xiaolin easily caught her wrists, pinning them down. “It won’t hurt,” he whispered, his voice dark and steady. “It will only make you happy.”

Pei Xiqing’s eyes grew wide and a little red. “Really?”

The man’s palm slid lower, catching her calf and lifting her leg slightly so her foot rested flat against the smooth surface of the desk. The loose links of the chain slid off her wrists bit by bit, clinking against the wood.

Pei Xiqing looked up at him blankly. “You… aren’t going to tie me up? Or… are you…”

He lowered his gaze, staring at her face. “Did you honestly think I would?”

“…” Pei Xiqing went entirely silent, the words catching in her throat. Her face flushed a bright, burning crimson, making her look incredibly charming. “Sorry. I shouldn’t have let my mouth run wild.”

She desperately hoped she had just misunderstood his intentions.

Her gaze traced the long lines of his knuckles and hands as they slowly moved back up her arms, eventually reaching that perfectly neat, unbothered face. She couldn’t even picture this man actually using a chain to strike someone.

The man caught her staring directly at him. Duan Xiaolin raised an eyebrow, leaning over her frame. “What exactly are you thinking about?”

Pei Xiqing blinked frantically, trying to clear her thoughts. She definitely shouldn’t have let her mind wander.

Duan Xiaolin slid his palm up her back, his fingers firmly gripping the nape of her neck to pull her up into a deep, commanding kiss. His movements were dominant, his strength completely unquestionable.

Pei Xiqing’s body went stiff. But after a mere five seconds, she began to sink into the embrace, her defenses melting away. She bit her lower lip, feeling a mix of embarrassment and surrender.

The strange, shivering cold against her skin gradually transformed into a burning, suffocating heat.

Sensing the sudden, uneven shift in her breathing, the man let out a low, amused huff against her neck. “Is that all it takes?”

Pei Xiqing was completely overwhelmed with shame. Her breath grew rapid and shallow, her head spinning as the room spun out of focus.

She closed her eyes tightly, her fingers curling into the sheets as a deep blush covered her face. Through the haze, she heard his voice drop into a level, serious command. “Tell me everything that happened in the office last night. I want to know every single detail. Don’t leave anything out.”

“Did I miss anything?” she whispered, trying to catch her breath. “I can’t even remember the timeline clearly myself, so how could you possibly know if I left something out?” If she chose to intentionally lie to his face, what could he really do to stop her?

Duan Xiaolin narrowed his eyes. A soft gleam reflected off his lenses, but it held absolutely no warmth.

His voice remained perfectly stable and calm. “I will know.”

The message was clear: she couldn’t lie to him. He already knew the core of what had happened. Whether he accepted her explanation depended entirely on her attitude and how honest she chose to be. If she gave a false report, the consequences would only double.

Pei Xiqing took a deep breath and methodically explained the entire sequence of events word for word. When he didn’t offer an immediate response, she carefully reached out, tugging the edge of his sleeve. “I was wrong,” she murmured softly. “I will never hurt myself or lose control just because of what some strangers say again. If I ever do it a second time, I am willing to… accept ten times the punishment.”

Satisfied with her surrender, Duan Xiaolin finally reached down, gently pinching her chin to tilt her face up.

“Let this incident be a lesson for you,” he said, his eyes boring into hers. “I want you to understand that I am not someone who will abandon you or break my word. I can remain completely indifferent to the rest of the world, but your timeline must stay explicitly within my sight. I will never allow you to run away from me.”

Pei Xiqing looked up at him, her eyes wide and a little timid, though the look only made her features appear more delicate and beautiful.

“There are no exceptions, and there are no what-ifs,” he added firmly.

Pei Xiqing swallowed back her nervous tears, nodding softly. “I understand.”

She paused, then mumbled, “But what if someone else tries to bully me?”

The man tilted his head, a dangerous glint behind his glasses. “Oh? Like who?”

Pei Xiqing opened her mouth and bit down directly on the fleshy part of his hand between his thumb and index finger. Pretending to be fierce, she growled through her teeth, “You. You beast.”
