Chapter 101: Am I Human?
Around 3 PM, a gentle drizzle started to fall from the sky, just as expected.
Huai Yu held an umbrella and went to check the bamboo forest, only to find that Kuang Biao had already bent several bamboo stalks, creating a spacious shelter from the wind and rain for Big Cub and Second Cub.
Uh…
She hadn’t even said anything yet!
“Kuang Biao, you…” she started to ask hesitantly, afraid of bruising his fragile ego, as delicate as a cicada’s wing.
But Kuang Biao spoke first.
“What’s so surprising? Can’t I stretch a little after standing too long?”
“Don’t even dream I’d build you a house like this. Impossible. Absolutely impossible!”
“Even though Big Cub and Second Cub poke at my shoots all the time, you entrusted them to me from the start, so I have to be responsible—if you must stay here, then come into my Supreme Invincible Green Bamboo Hut.”
Huai Yu stepped back and shook her head immediately, “No, no, I’m not worthy. A normal house is good enough for me.”
“But…”
She hesitated and suddenly reached out to touch the bamboo beside her. “Kuang Biao, do you think… I’m human?”
“???” Kuang Biao shook his bamboo leaves, and raindrops pattered down from the umbrella. Then he shouted, “What do you mean you’re not human? If you’re not human, then what am I? Are you saying you don’t want to be human anymore?”
Huai Yu sighed. “I just feel a bit strange…”
Up until now, her powers had always been useful. But why were they so insignificant when it came to the Rose Corridor?
Not that they had no effect.
But the output was way less than the potential.
If it’s because the main body is too large and scattered the power—then why did she see that scene when she used her powers? Like… she was the Rose Corridor.
She shook her head, then cautiously said, “Kuang Biao, could you try sensing my power?”
“See if I still feel like a person when I use it?”
Kuang Biao gave an “ah,” a bit disdainfully: “That wood-type power of yours? Feels less useful than the poop those two cubs just dropped—fine, come on then! Even if it’s as thin as silk, I’ll try my best to feel it!”
He sounded so sincere, but Huai Yu just wanted to kick him again.
She took a deep breath to steady herself, then slowly directed her growth and purification power toward Kuang Biao.
If before it had trickled out in threads, now it felt more like a flowing spring—noticeably stronger.
She hadn’t been mistaken.
After recovering from her illness, her powers had clearly grown.
This energy, like spring water, flowed over Kuang Biao’s body, making the entire bamboo forest tremble. Bamboo roots twisted violently through the wet earth, breaking it open inch by inch.
Standing in the center of the forest, you could hear them growing.
Huai Yu pulled back her trembling hand, suddenly feeling drained.
She understood now—although her power well had grown larger, the water in it had barely increased, making her stamina even worse than before.
And Kuang Biao’s shout came echoing through, “Aaahhh—your power! It’s not right! Why is it this strong… I can’t take it anymore! I’m going to grow, I’m going to grow! I really can’t control it—”
He yelled while stretching his roots outward.
But after growing out a bit, he hesitated and shrank back.
The memory of the Rose Corridor beating him up was still fresh in his mind.
So he held it in and just sprouted more bamboo shoots inside the forest instead.
The two goslings saw this and instantly took it as a new game! They rushed out of Kuang Biao’s Supreme Nest and started madly pecking at the new shoots with glee in the rain.
Even under her feet, she could feel bamboo shoots pushing up through the soil. Huai Yu pulled back her hand and asked again, “Well? Do I seem any different to you?”
The growth in the bamboo forest gradually stopped. Kuang Biao’s voice came with a sigh, “Dog!”
“What?” Huai Yu was shocked.
“I said you’re such a dog!” Kuang Biao angrily thrashed his leaves. “If you had said earlier that you had power like this, I would’ve gone down the mountain with you right away!”
“But no—you had to keep it a secret, not say a word! So I go down the mountain and get beaten!”
“Beaten by the Rose Corridor, then beaten by your geese… Sure, I’m rooted in your territory, but that doesn’t mean I have to get beat up every day! I never suffered like this back on the mountain!”
Kuang Biao was full of complaints, each word soaked in bitter tears.
Huai Yu was helpless. “My power isn’t even offensive—what’s the point in telling you? What if you kidnapped me and forced me to power you up every day?”
“How is that not offensive?” Kuang Biao sniffled. “That purification effect… if you gave me more, I could absorb the purest mutation energy and stop being so aggressive.”
“The more you give, the better my temper, the more I like you, and then I won’t hit you!”
Huai Yu: …
“Then… thank you?”
She was honestly disappointed. Seriously?
Was she supposed to use this power in battle by giving it all to the enemy, making them stronger, then hope they become peaceful and dependent on her… and don’t hit her?
That’s just too—
Her expression twisted in complexity.
Kuang Biao hesitated, then muttered, “Also! That growth-stimulating power of yours—I really love it! It’s like Big Cub and Second Cub pooped for three days straight, fermented it, and piled it at my roots. I’d feel guilty not growing!”
“So… could you give me more?”
“Twenty times more! I could grow so much stronger!”
“Then I’d build you a Supreme Top-Tier Kuang Biao Nest! Super solid! Storm-proof!”
To be fair, Kuang Biao was great at metaphors.
Whether it was the three-day poop pile or the supreme hut or that “twenty times” line—it all left Huai Yu emotionally cold.
Especially since she had no strength left.
She stood in place, holding her umbrella, feeling like her heart had been poked into a leaky net, rain pouring through.
Finally, she asked again, “So… do you think I’m anything like the Rose Corridor?”
Kuang Biao froze, his bamboo leaves swaying helplessly. “What do you mean? You really don’t want to be human anymore? But the odds aren’t good. The Rose Corridor’s so strong—you don’t even seem as good as the goslings… Not similar at all.”
Huai Yu sighed and asked more directly, “I mean, is it possible… that I created the Rose Corridor?”
Suddenly, water flew off Kuang Biao’s bamboo in a wild spray, and even with an umbrella, Huai Yu couldn’t avoid it.
“What kind of possibility is that?! Do you really think your power could create something as powerful as the Rose Corridor?”
