Chapter 44: Super Mold 8
At this moment, Chu Yian had already pedaled away on her tricycle.
She rushed all the way to her small shop, parked her vehicle, and prepared to open the door. However, just as she took out her keys, a woman staggered over to her.
After her recent encounter, Chu Yian was now somewhat wary.
She turned to look at the woman, and memories from a few days ago resurfaced in her mind.
She recognized this person; it was the landlady from the “Prime Shop for Rent” sign she had seen a few days ago, the same person who had cursed at her own doorstep after Chu Yian rented this shop.
Chu Yian was like that: she remembered kindness, and she also remembered grudges.
Chu Yian put her keys away and looked at her coldly, “What do you want?”
“What… what did you buy today?”
The woman’s eyes were fixed on Chu Yian’s bag, as if trying to stare through the bag to see what was inside.
“What’s it to you?”
Chu Yian frowned at her, her right hand reaching into her pocket, gripping her small knife.
“Don’t misunderstand, I was just asking casually.”
The woman forced an unnatural smile, “Well… I see you bringing big bags of things into your shop every day. You have so much, you can’t possibly eat it all by yourself, can you?
Can you spare some for me? I’ll give you double the original price.”
Double the original price, not double the market price. This meant if instant noodles originally cost 3.5, she would offer 6 yuan, even though the market price was now 60 yuan a bag.
Her calculations were so loud, they could be heard on the moon.
“Keep it for yourself.”
Chu Yian couldn’t stand people who tried to take advantage of others. “If you want to beg, please take a bowl and go outside. I don’t do charity here.”
These words made the woman’s face change drastically. “I see you’re refusing a toast only to drink a forfeit!”
She shouted twice towards her own shop, and two strong men emerged from inside. One was older, one was younger; it seemed the three of them were a family.
Three against one, and two of them were men.
Chu Yian now realized that things were not looking good. Moreover, this area was remote, and the usually quiet street was now completely deserted except for them.
There wasn’t even a chance to call for help.
Chu Yian quickly weighed the pros and cons in her mind, then threw the keys from her hand. “Don’t you want the keys? Here!”
The woman calmly picked up the keys, while the other two men blocked Chu Yian, not moving at all.
“Weren’t you so arrogant just now?”
The woman looked at her triumphantly, then said to the two men beside her, “Dad, husband, this woman bullied me. Help me teach her a good lesson!”
“How dare she bully my woman? I’ll show her!”
The two men approached Chu Yian, while the woman had already taken the keys to open the shop door.
Chu Yian retreated while observing her surroundings. Seeing the empty street, she decided to protect herself first!
She flipped her palm, and the treasure box appeared in her hand.
Taking advantage of the two men’s distraction, Chu Yian hurled the treasure box at the older man closest to her! The treasure box left her hand and grew in size with her thought, directly hitting the old man’s leg. A wail rang out, and the middle-aged man fell to the ground, tightly covering his mouth.
He didn’t dare to cry out loudly because he had a guilty conscience, worried that their robbery would be discovered.
The young man next to him reacted quickly, directly tackling Chu Yian and slapping her hard.
Chu Yian’s originally fair and tender face instantly turned red, swelling rapidly, and her ears were accompanied by a sharp pain and ringing.
An adult man’s strength was immense!
He not only caused Chu Yian’s ears to ring but also directly choked her neck. A strong sense of suffocation followed, and for a moment, Chu Yian felt her vision brighten, her body felt light, and something wanted to rush out of her body.
At this moment, she suddenly remembered the weapon in her pocket! She decisively pulled out her utility knife and forcefully stabbed it into the man’s side.
Two quick slashes, so forceful that a section of the utility knife blade broke off inside his body. Chu Yian retrieved the treasure box that was pressing on the middle-aged man’s leg and used it to smash the young man who wanted to kill her, leaving him unable to get up.
“There’s nothing in the shop.”
The woman entered the room with eager anticipation, only to find nothing but plastic bags inside, not a single piece of food. Realizing she had been tricked, the woman rushed out in a rage, only to see her father lying on the ground, and her husband covered in blood from being hammered.
“Ah! I’ll fight you to the death!”
The woman screamed and charged at Chu Yian, but was hit by the treasure box Chu Yian threw.
All three of them lay on the ground, groaning in pain. After confirming they no longer posed a threat, Chu Yian stumbled to her feet.
She climbed onto the tricycle, laboriously pedaled a distance, then suddenly stopped… Thinking of the three people on the ground, she hesitated for a long time: should she go forward or turn back?
Finally, she went back.
Although Chu Yian was now extremely exhausted and her mind was in a muddle, a person’s will to survive could drive her to do anything!
The treasure box was her trump card in the game; no one could know about it!
They wanted to kill her, so she wanted them dead!
Chu Yian walked numbly back to the scene of the fight, watching the three of them crawling together, taking out their phones to call for help. Chu Yian kicked the phone out of the woman’s hand and took out her treasure box.
Seeing Chu Yian return, fear appeared in the eyes of the three.
“We’re sorry, we were wrong!”
“We’ll never try to harm you again!”
“My house still has two boxes of instant noodles. Please let us go. All the food, gold, silver, jewelry, and money in the house are yours…”
The three of them desperately pleaded for help, but it was already too late.
Chu Yian enlarged the treasure box three more times, and the people who knew her secret were completely dead.
She appeared very calm, but was actually in a daze. From the shop to the Residential Area, she didn’t even know how she got back.
She had lived for decades, and this was her first time killing someone.
She had killed people!
The sight of those three lying in a pool of blood was something she would probably never forget in this lifetime.
Fear, trembling, coldness.
Chu Yian felt their blood still on her, her nostrils filled with the metallic smell of blood. She rushed into the bathroom and frantically scrubbed herself, her stomach churning, and she vomited violently.
Nausea, fear.
That night, Chu Yian even dreamt of their dead bodies. She didn’t dare to turn off the lights that night, repeatedly waking up from nightmares.
Then, she developed a high fever.
She discovered it herself at six in the morning. Her body was cold, and she felt weak all over. Measuring with a thermometer, she had a fever of forty-one degrees Celsius. She didn’t even have the strength to go to the Hospital.
But now, doctors probably couldn’t handle everything.
Doctors were very busy now, not only dealing with those admitted to the Hospital for eating moldy food but also with injured people from fights, robberies, and those who had been robbed.
Thinking of this, Chu Yian couldn’t help but recall those three corpses.
It had been a whole night; had the bodies been discovered? Among the sounds of these ambulances, would any be carrying them?
Thinking of how the three of them died, she couldn’t help but run to the toilet and vomit again. After vomiting, she found the antipyretic she had bought earlier, took two pills according to the instructions, then sat weakly on the sofa and turned on the television.
The news was all reassuring words about dispatching food everywhere and asking everyone to stay calm to soothe public sentiment.
Now that the outside was in such a chaotic state, who knew how many people still believed it. She sighed, and because she felt unwell all over, she went back to bed. Relying on the sedative component in the antipyretic, she finally fell asleep…
