Doomsday: Scavenging in a Survival Game – CH179

A Miserable Death!

Chapter 179: A Miserable Death!

Gu Cheng’an watched as Yang Wei charged at Su Ning like a hungry tiger pouncing on its prey.

He quickly prepared to intercept using his abilities, but before he could make a move, the scene that followed left him completely dumbfounded.

Yang Wei hadn’t taken Su Ning seriously at all, and this underestimation became his biggest mistake. In the final moments of his life, the only thing he saw was the mocking glint in Su Ning’s eyes.

Mockery?

Yang Wei couldn’t comprehend why Su Ning would look at him like that. His punch radiated with terrifying power, seemingly capable of shattering Su Ning’s beautiful face.

But at this life-or-death moment, Su Ning still had the composure to look at him with mockery? It baffled Yang Wei.

In the next second, the seemingly lazy creature behind Su Ning—Youyou—vanished into the shadows the moment Yang Wei launched his attack, darting forward like a phantom to stand before its master.

Just as Yang Wei was about to reach Su Ning, his shadow overlapped with Youyou’s.

Youyou’s Shadow Step skill activated instantly!

In midair, Yang Wei suddenly felt his body forcibly restrained by an overwhelming force. He couldn’t move.

What’s going on?!

Yang Wei’s eyes widened in horror at what was happening.

Due to momentum, his now-frozen body crashed hard into the ground.

The next moment, a deafening tiger’s roar echoed in his ears.

Everyone standing on the ground felt the earth shake violently. Most could barely keep their balance.

No one knew what had just happened.

Then—

A massive earth spike suddenly shot up from beneath the snow like a dragon breaching the sea, and as fate would have it, the tip of the spike was perfectly aligned with a very sensitive part of Yang Wei’s anatomy.

Everyone watching immediately looked away in discomfort, unable to imagine what horrific sight would come next.

Squelch!

The earthen spike pierced straight through Yang Wei’s body—from below and out through his mouth!

Everyone gasped in unison.

At that moment, they all instinctively clenched certain parts of their own bodies, their faces full of terror at Yang Wei’s fate.

Even though he wasn’t killed instantly due to his Rock Skin ability, Yang Wei was in agony.

He had never imagined dying this miserably.

His defensive ability had always been rock-solid—literally. But he’d never considered its one fatal flaw: it didn’t cover his lower regions.

That turned out to be his weakest point.

Yang Wei cursed his misfortune once again.

He stared at Su Ning with eyes full of hatred, making muffled noises of pain—he couldn’t even speak properly.

He had such a powerful ability, how could he die like this? He was unwilling, full of regret—but regret didn’t change the outcome.

Now, he had to pay the price for his choices.

The spike remained lodged through Yang Wei’s body, holding him high in the air for everyone to see.

The once-dominant Yang Wei, the terror of the Ice Dome region, had died in front of everyone. But no one mourned him—in fact, many felt a sense of justice.

Some even said:

“Serves him right. The heavens finally opened their eyes. He harmed so many people here, draining their blood and leaving them for dead.”

“Yeah, finally! I used to worry every day I might be his next victim. Can’t believe he died in such a ridiculous way though—it’s honestly satisfying.”

“Gotta thank that girl. She looks soft and delicate, but her pet is terrifying. I’m so jealous.”

“Right? Who would’ve guessed?”

As for Yang Wei’s lackeys, when they saw their once-mighty boss die in the blink of an eye, they were stunned speechless. The moment Youyou glared at them with tiger eyes, they turned tail and fled, terrified out of their minds.

After showing off Yang Wei’s impaled body for a moment, Su Ning stuffed him into her scavenger’s backpack.

By now, everyone clearly understood: Su Ning was no ordinary person.

“Oh my god… your teammate’s that strong?” Duan Heng stammered.

Kou Dingshan let out a dry laugh. In his heart, he was thinking:

“Su Ning didn’t even lift a finger. Sure, Yang Wei died in a… visually painful way, but at least it wasn’t Su Ning’s poison ability that did it. I’ve seen what happens when she uses that—people bleed from every orifice, rot from the inside out. Absolutely horrifying.”

On their journey, Kou Dingshan had seen suicidal maniacs they couldn’t fight off, so Su Ning had stepped in. The results were always gruesome.

Only now did the guards near the ice dome remember to do their job and react.

But honestly, stopping Su Ning now would’ve felt absurd. It was already over—and she’d actually done them a favor by getting rid of a major threat. If anything, they probably owed her thanks.

Why mess with someone as powerful as Su Ning in the first place?

At that moment, Gu Cheng’an arrived.

The guard captain, upon seeing him, looked visibly relieved and immediately saluted:

“Director Gu!”

Gu Cheng’an nodded.

“Go clean up the mess Yang Wei caused. Since he’s dead, his entire team should be disbanded. We can’t allow a scourge like that to fester in the Fifth Shelter.”

“Yes, sir!”

The guard captain led a team to chase down Yang Wei’s fleeing henchmen.

Now Gu Cheng’an finally had a moment to properly look at Su Ning.

Something about her seemed different from before—at first, he didn’t recognize her, but soon it clicked.

Su Ning, on the other hand, had completely forgotten about Gu Cheng’an… until she saw his player data:

[Player: Gu Cheng’an]
Talent:
  Roar of the Gale
Skills:
  Saber Technique
  Wind Blade
  Storm

Gate of Space: Connects to a dungeon world. Can enter three times per month, each session limited to three hours.
Treasure Wind Saber: A special weapon that amplifies wind-element power.

Seeing his name and talent, Su Ning remembered she’d once encountered him in a dungeon.

“Hello, I’m Gu Cheng’an, director of the Fifth Shelter. Thank you for helping us remove a major threat.”

When he introduced himself, not only was Su Ning surprised—Kou Dingshan, Zhang Li, and the others were visibly shocked too.

Only Wang Chang seemed unfazed.

Gu Cheng’an also noticed Wang Chang. The two exchanged a glance but said nothing.

Su Ning replied calmly:

“There’s no need to thank me. He was trying to attack me, so I was just defending myself. As long as this doesn’t stop us from entering the Fifth Shelter, that’s enough for me.”
