Chapter 149: Wutong High School 8
“I don’t know.”
Chu Yian expressionlessly shifted her body, creating distance between them.
Bai Sinian, however, shamelessly moved closer again. “Little Chu Chu, don’t be so angry. Haven’t you noticed that among all these people, I’m the most reliable?”
He smiled, placing a hand on Chu Yian’s shoulder. “Follow Brother Bai, and I’ll get you out of this game round.”
Chu Yian pulled his hand from her shoulder and then retorted sarcastically, “Follow Brother Bai, starve nine times in three days. And if you’re not careful, you’ll get a peanut?”
Bai Sinian made no attempt to defend his previous actions. He raised an eyebrow slightly. “Little Chu Chu, your rap is pretty good. Are you a rapper?”
I want to give you two big slaps.
Chu Yian ignored him, stood up, and walked towards the school gate.
A volunteer in a blue uniform was holding a megaphone: “The gate is about to close. All students reporting should enter the school within two minutes; the gate is about to close. All students reporting should enter the school within two minutes.”
“The school bus is on the left; please board it. Someone will take you to the Information Hall.”
People streamed in.
Then they saw two buses parked on the road.
Players without rules dared not act rashly, while players with rules began to examine the buses. The image of a monkey was on the rear of the left bus. After finding the pattern, everyone began to board.
Players without manuals followed these players, mimicking their actions, and everyone boarded the correct bus.
Chu Yian chose to sit with a girl she didn’t know. Bai Sinian, who followed, sighed when he saw there was no seat next to Chu Yian. The feeling, expressed in the online slang that young girls often used before the game, was exactly like a discarded puppy.
Under Bai Sinian’s one-sided performance, everyone’s impression of the two as a ‘couple in a spat’ deepened.
Chu Yian: …Damn it!
The bus stopped at the Information Hall.
At this point, some people began to open their student manuals to check the precautions for handling procedures at the Information Hall. This is where the alliances formed earlier came into play. These teams had as few as four or five people, and as many as eight, like theirs. Players without manuals could only watch enviously, not daring to cause trouble for them.
There were also many NPC students inside the Information Hall.
Long queues formed at every window for enrollment.
As people left one by one, it was finally Chu Yian’s turn. She handed her admission notice and ID card to the staff, then received her housing application form.
There were no volunteers in black uniforms. The serial number on the housing application form read Building 2, Room 402.
This meant that rules 2 and 3 did not apply to her. Chu Yian breathed a slight sigh of relief; she still had some good luck on her side.
“Little Chu Chu, wait for me at the entrance after you’ve finished your procedures…”
Bai Sinian’s shameless voice came from behind, but Chu Yian ignored him and strode out of the Information Hall.
As she reached the main entrance, she happened to run into Gao Peng and his group.
Chu Yian was about to leave when Gao Peng called out, “Little Chu, wait a moment. Your boyfriend hasn’t come out yet. The situation is very dangerous. You little couples shouldn’t be bickering like this.”
“He and I have no relation.”
Chu Yian finally couldn’t help but clarify, “Don’t blame me for not warning you all; that person is full of tricks. If you trust him now, you’ll be helping him count his money after he sells you out later.”
No sooner had she spoken than Bai Sinian emerged from the Information Hall.
But the moment he came out, his expression was somewhat gloomy, until he saw other people outside, and it quickly transformed into a cynical smile.
“Ran into a little trouble; I have to leave for a bit.”
With that, he walked north.
Towards Luoyang Lake?
Chu Yian immediately knew what had happened to him—
Game Rule 2: If you encounter a volunteer in a black uniform, immediately stay away and leave the Information Hall, walking towards Luoyang Lake. Return only after hearing three monkey calls.
“He probably won’t be back for a while. Are you going to keep waiting? I’m going ahead.”
After Chu Yian finished speaking, she set off on the path to the dormitory building.
Her steps were quick; she didn’t even wait for her “teammates” behind her. At first, she could still hear Gao Peng and the others’ footsteps following her, but soon, their sounds disappeared.
White mist rose on the path to the dormitory building, blurring visibility.
She slowed down. After walking about ten meters, she saw two forks in the road. Good luck wasn’t constant; she had still encountered a rule-based event.
Game Rule 4: There is only one path from the Information Hall to the dormitory. When two paths appear, find a volunteer to guide you to the correct path.
Chu Yian didn’t even need to take out her student manual; she had basically memorized the first few rules.
Now, all she had to do was find a volunteer.
She retraced her steps, looking around for a volunteer.
Before long, she found one!
However, the smile that hadn’t yet appeared immediately froze on her face—the volunteer she found was wearing a black uniform.
Chu Yian quickly pulled out her student manual and saw Rule 5: When a volunteer in a black uniform appears nearby, do not speak to him or make direct eye contact. Roll the manual into a cylinder, and through the cylinder, you will see a volunteer in a blue uniform nearby. You can ask the blue-uniformed volunteer for help, but do not lower the cylinder until you hear a monkey’s call.
She took a deep breath and quickly rolled the manual as required by the rule, holding it to her eye.
Her left eye was tightly closed; only her right eye looked out through the manual.
The moment the manual was placed before her eye, the surrounding scenery instantly distorted. The surrounding mist had not dissipated, and the path beneath her feet became twisted. She looked at the black-uniformed volunteer she had just seen, only able to perceive a black phantom. But this phantom was like a shadow, following her, and even getting closer due to her gaze!
Chu Yian was startled.
She looked around and found a volunteer in a blue uniform standing near the black phantom. The scene seen through the manual was distorted and blurry, but this did not prevent her from recognizing the volunteer.
Chu Yian quickly ran to the blue-uniformed volunteer, speaking rapidly, “Please guide me to the correct path to the dormitory. I’m lost.”
The blue-uniformed volunteer did not speak but began to move.
He walked in the direction of the dormitory, as if leading the way.
Chu Yian kept her eyes fixed on his back, not daring to glance away.
Because her back was chilling, not from a psychological cause, but a physical, real sensation. It was as if… something was getting closer and closer, almost pressing against her body.
It made her involuntarily think of that distorted black-uniformed volunteer near her…
