Chapter 129: Packing Up
There were so many items. Although Chen Xing referred to them as junk, they were actually all useful things for daily life, and Huai Yu loved them!
As for Keta Rō’s tea balls…
“Alright! Ten points, I’ll buy them all—” She said, then glanced at Uncle Zaozi, who was eagerly watching her. She added, “I’ll give part of it to Uncle Zaozi first. The rest I’ll bring over tomorrow, okay? I promised him before.”
Now, Chen Xing couldn’t help but smile as she looked at Huai Yu. She thought back to when Huai Yu was just a young girl who got along with her, but now she was like a very close little sister.
She nodded repeatedly. “Alright, after the test, I’ll let him pick first.”
But Huai Yu had something to add—
“It’s just that… the tea-making process is a bit complicated, and the raw materials can’t be standardized, so the next batch I bring over, I don’t know what color it’ll be.”
“I understand, I understand.”
Uncle Zaozi had already recovered and patted the dust off himself. “A master’s craft, huh? There’s no such thing as identical items. Once I taste it, I’ll know it’s made by someone special.”
Huai Yu lowered her head sheepishly.
Well… wasn’t Keta Rō also a master craftsman? And he used his front claws, which were pretty much like human hands, right?
Master’s craft, no problem.
Chen Xing nodded as well. “In our Flower City, there are still some discerning people.”
In today’s world, cheap items could only be sold in bulk to middlemen, but really good things, those people weren’t shy about paying for!
Looking at the warehouse, Chen Xing finally sighed in relief. “At least it’s getting cleared out.”
She put her arm around Huai Yu’s shoulder, happy. “Although we didn’t earn any points, I’m happy in my heart.”
“From now on, you can come by every few days. If there’s anything good, I’ll let you pick first.”
Huai Yu agreed graciously. “It’s just that I live in a somewhat remote area, so maybe I can only come once a week.”
Hearing this, Chen Xing asked, “Where do you live? Give me an address, and I’ll have them help load it up. We can deliver everything to your place.”
Huai Yu grew even more sheepish.
She hesitated, “Well… it’s a little far, a bit out of the way…”
Chen Xing patted her shoulder. “You were just being generous, now why are you acting shy? Anyway, it’s just a drive. As long as it’s not the Three Qing Mountain or the wastelands, where can’t we go?”
Huai Yu: …
She asked softly, “Then… Do you go to the Rose Corridor?”
Chen Xing burst into laughter. “What’s the difference between Rose Corridor and the wastelands or Three Qing Mountain? Wait, why do you look like that? You don’t mean…?!”
She stared at Huai Yu in disbelief.
Huai Yu smiled, “I live in the Rose Corridor.”
Chen Xing: …
Chen Xing anxiously checked the map, unsure if her car could make the trip.
Even though Huai Yu assured her that there would be no problem.
Meanwhile, Uncle Zaozi was eyeing her up and down, “Huai Yu, you’ve got a lot of secrets!”
Huai Yu thought, that’s for sure! She had even told people she had two brothers.
Even Boss Tang didn’t know her true background.
But now, having seen the capabilities of Rose Corridor, and feeling more confident in her life with Kuang Biao and the others…
She might have hesitated before about relying on Rose Corridor, fearing her close ties would draw suspicion. But relying on Kuang Biao, there was no issue at all. After all, who could predict the nature of mutated plants?
Now, knowing she was safe, she felt no worries when explaining things.
But while she wasn’t worried, both Uncle Zaozi and Chen Xing were extremely concerned. “You really live in the Rose Corridor?”
“Really, really, really!”
Huai Yu confirmed it three times. They had asked her several times already.
“But not exactly in the Rose Corridor, it’s a piece of land allocated nearby. I chose it back then, you know Rose Mansion? District 1.”
“It’s huge, a very large area.”
Huai Yu gestured, and Chen Xing finally relaxed. “I get it now. Since you can live there, it shouldn’t be a problem to help you deliver the items.”
“Besides, this is the first time I’ve met someone who lives there… I must go see it, it’s so rare!”
She and Uncle Zaozi both relaxed, but Huai Yu felt like things weren’t quite as they expected.
…
The Rose Corridor really had a special status in Flower City.
When the news got out that Huai Yu lived there, everyone at the exploration company sprang into action. People were moving things, loading up vehicles.
The two large piles of junk, along with a basket of fresh peaches, filled up three cars.
These three vehicles essentially represented the entire wealth of the exploration company.
Chen Xing proudly said, “In the whole of Flower City, there aren’t many adventure teams as powerful as ours.”
Sitting in the car, Huai Yu asked curiously, “Sister Xing, do all of you have abilities?”
“Yes.” Chen Xing nodded. She didn’t move, yet the bumpy, broken road ahead seemed to smooth out instantly, the dirt filling in the holes.
When Huai Yu looked out the rear window, she saw that the road had returned to its original state.
“Why can’t this road-fixing effect last?”
She asked out of curiosity.
Chen Xing laughed. “I don’t have that kind of ability. That would require a much stronger ability!”
“And the main purpose of this isn’t road fixing; it’s for training. This kind of shock absorption method is just a small way to train abilities.”
“When abilities first appeared, General Lin shared some small techniques for training the five-element abilities with the public. We’ve been his number one fans, still practicing these techniques!”
“Oh.”
Mentioning Lin Xuefeng made Huai Yu feel a little down again.
But Chen Xing didn’t notice. She sighed. “I heard on the broadcast that General Lin retired. Normally, after retirement, he would go to teach at a military academy, right? Too bad, I couldn’t find out where he’s working. Otherwise, I could sneak in for a class.”
Huai Yu then asked, “But don’t you worry that constantly training your abilities will exceed the mutation limit?”
“I heard that once it exceeds, it’s irreversible.”
“Ha.” Chen Xing laughed and casually replied, “We take life one day at a time.”
“Are we supposed to fear mutations in the future and stop improving ourselves now? If we do that, we won’t even be able to live today properly.”
“Besides, our training techniques are nothing compared to the real soldiers on the frontlines, fighting against mutations day and night.”
“When the mutation value reaches the critical point, either you’re heavily injured and contaminated, or you’re already in your forties or fifties.”
“By the time we reach that age, maybe the government will have a solution?”
