Chapter 178: Action Begins, Gu Cheng’an Appears!
When Duan Heng saw Yang Wei’s gaze sweep over, he immediately tensed up.
Lowering his voice—though still loud enough for Su Ning and the others to hear—he warned,
“Don’t act rashly. None of us are a match for him. He just wants a bit of blood—give it to him and be done with it.”
Although no one understood why Yang Wei insisted on collecting blood, and only from players, it was obvious something was off. Those who had given up their player status weren’t even worth a glance to him.
Everyone could sense there was some shady business going on here, but no one dared step forward to stop it.
Yang Wei strutted arrogantly up to Su Ning.
Kou Dingshan, who had been wary and alert, suddenly found himself speechless as Yang Wei stood before them.
He thought to himself, Who’s going to suffer today?
He couldn’t believe Yang Wei actually dared to provoke Su Ning.
“Better pray you don’t do anything Su Ning hates,” Zhang Li and the others silently prayed as well.
Of course, they weren’t praying for Su Ning’s safety… but for Yang Wei not to get himself killed.
If Yang Wei really pissed off Su Ning, she could probably wave her hand and end him on the spot.
And if Su Ning ended up banned from entering the Fifth Shelter over this, that would be a huge loss.
After all, the road from the Sixth Shelter hadn’t been entirely safe. Their little team had already been targeted several times—but with Su Ning there, every time she’d resolved the issue effortlessly.
They’d come to understand her personality clearly:
“If people don’t mess with me, I won’t mess with them. But if they do—I’ll make sure they regret it.”
“Su Ning, you…” Jiang Nana was just about to speak when Yang Wei interrupted her.
Yang Wei shot a sideways glance at Su Ning and clicked his tongue. “Well, I’ll be damned. Never thought a girl this pretty would still be alive at this point. Thought all of you women needed to cling to a man to survive, huh? Hahaha! Boys, am I right or what?”
The underlings behind him immediately echoed, “Boss is absolutely right!”
Their voices were shrill and obnoxious—absolutely disgusting.
But Yang Wei wasn’t finished yet.
He turned back to Su Ning and continued, “Hey, pretty girl, how about coming with me? With me protecting you, you’ll never need to worry about safety again. You’ll eat well, live well… do whatever you want. Of course, I’ve got one little condition—just hand over those monsters of yours.”
After all that talk, his true motive was finally revealed.
Su Ning’s cold eyes swept over him.
“Are you done talking?”
Seeing that Su Ning wasn’t intimidated at all, Yang Wei was a little surprised.
Usually, when he used this sleazy tone, girls who’d been through the hellscape of the apocalypse would be too scared to resist. But here she was—unfazed.
“Haha! You’ve got my attention, woman!”
Su Ning: ??
Why does this guy sound like he just switched from sleazy jerk to a cringey CEO-wannabe?
She was immediately disgusted.
Yang Wei’s eyes shifted slightly as he smiled wickedly.
“You don’t seriously think that having a little monster pet means you can challenge me, do you? I’m in a good mood today and don’t want to fight. Hand it over quietly—otherwise, you’re not walking out of here alive.”
He even winked at her playfully.
Su Ning remained calm, her eyes scanning Yang Wei like she was looking at a living skill orb.
That’s right—from the moment he walked over, Su Ning had never planned to let him leave alive.
Su Ning wasn’t some saint. Yang Wei’s ability—stealing talents and skills from others—was exactly the kind of power that would make anyone greedy.
Su Ning was no exception.
If Yang Wei had been a decent person, she might’ve hesitated. But his past actions—and the way everyone reacted to him—made it clear this guy was scum.
Getting rid of him right here would be doing the world a favor.
Yep.
Su Ning even gave herself a noble reason in her mind for what she was about to do.
After Yang Wei finished threatening her, Su Ning suddenly smiled—bright and warm like sunshine.
But everyone else was confused.
Someone just threatened you, and you’re smiling?!
“I don’t know if I’ll be living well soon,” Su Ning said, smile fading. “But I do know—you’re definitely going to die a horrible death.”
Yang Wei, with his Gene-Plundering Talent and the many abilities he had stolen, had grown incredibly strong. Naturally, he had a strong sixth sense.
He suddenly felt something was off, like danger was looming—and the chill ran down his spine.
His eyes narrowed sharply.
He immediately concluded that this woman was the source of that bad feeling.
If he wanted to stop this ominous premonition from coming true, there was only one way—kill Su Ning immediately.
Without another word, Yang Wei struck.
In the blink of an eye, his arms were covered in stone, and the rock-like skin quickly spread over his entire body. His figure flickered—and then he launched himself straight at Su Ning.
“DIE!”
To him, whether Su Ning handed over her pet or not, the result would be the same—death.
It was just a matter of whether she was toyed with before dying… or tortured to death by his underlings later.
“Watch out!”
“Stop!!”
Several voices cried out in horror as they saw Yang Wei attack.
Gu Cheng’an had just stepped out of the shelter.
His sole purpose: to find an opportunity to eliminate Yang Wei, a toxic cancer that had been festering too long.
Ever since his father died due to internal strife within the Fifth Shelter, Gu Cheng’an had been forced to take over—bearing the responsibilities of leadership and development.
But because of his young age, many grew jealous and resentful, constantly trying to stir up trouble for him.
Even so, Gu Cheng’an was decisive and capable. Add to that his identity as a player, and those same people found themselves unable to touch him.
Most of the top brass had long given up their player status. But Gu Cheng’an’s rise had proved one thing:
True power is the real authority.
Many of them now bitterly regretted giving up their player rights so easily when the survival system first appeared.
In one of his dungeon runs, Gu Cheng’an had acquired a special item—[Gate of Space].
This magical item allowed him to lock onto a specific dungeon and enter it three times per month, with a three-hour time limit each visit.
Using it, he locked onto a special dungeon he’d previously explored: [Forge Mountain]—a place that yielded rare weapons and gear.
Although the loot was limited per run, it helped the Fifth Shelter grow rapidly.
Especially now, with the energy shield around the shelter, Gu Cheng’an had cemented his control and authority.
This time, he left the shelter to personally deal with a threat that had plagued him long enough.
Yang Wei.
Mu Feiyu had once told him about Yang Wei’s talent.
If this man wasn’t eliminated, he’d become a ticking time bomb for the shelter—and beyond.
So, once Gu Cheng’an finished his tasks, he immediately came out with the intention to act.
What he didn’t expect… was to step outside and witness this exact scene unfold.
