Chapter 7: The System Actually Assigned a Mission to Ye Jiamai
Because she discovered that even if her parents were involved in the assassination, all the points gained from the bandits they killed would be credited entirely to her.

“Commander Wu, are you injured?!”
A guard’s voice suddenly rang out, startling the three huddled behind the rock even further, as eyebrows furrowed in alarm.
Wu Dahai was slumped on the ground against a tree trunk, his hand clutching a deep wound on his arm, with blood freely streaming between his fingers. Compared to the corpses scattered around, his condition soon made him look like he was on the brink of death, his face pale as a ghost. Such a wound, apart from a branding iron, could hardly be staunched by any means.
He could never have imagined that with this simple escort mission—just three days out of the capital—he would be dying on the road.

As soon as Chang Huilan’s voice faded, the dignified voice of the old patriarch, Yu Hui, resounded again, completely shattering Wu Dahai’s train of thought.
“Ye Jiamei, don’t you dare treat our Commander like a plaything—are you courting death?”
Just as Ye Jiamai was about to tear off a piece of her prison garb to bind Wu Dahai’s arm and stop the bleeding, one of the guards protecting Wu Dahai shouted at her in anger.
Seeing Ye Jiamai being blocked from treating Wu Dahai, Yu Luo and her father quickly stepped out, “Heh, my mother is now a criminal—what motive could she possibly have to harm our Commander? Her good intentions are being mistaken for nothing more than a fool’s errand!
