Appendicitis—Ye Jiamei hadn’t expected to encounter it so soon after starting her free clinic.
She was actually excited at the prospect of performing surgery again. It had been too long since she last held a scalpel. Surgery was her specialty, her passion. She never imagined her first patient would have such a perfect condition for an operation.
The man was visibly taken aback by her words, his face flashing with a moment of surprise.
“You say the same thing? It seems you truly have some skill. That’s exactly what a few other doctors told me. But…” His voice trailed off as he furrowed his brows. “There was one major difference between what they said and what you just told me.”
Ye Jiamei leaned back in her chair, a knowing smile playing on her lips.
“Did those doctors tell you that it’s lucky your condition hasn’t turned acute yet? That if it did, you’d be in unbearable pain, and there would be no way to cure it? That you could even die from it?”
The man’s eyes widened in shock.
“How do you know?!”
He was utterly stunned. Ye Jiamei had repeated the other doctors’ words almost verbatim.
A moment ago, he had still been skeptical about a female doctor’s abilities, but now, admiration flickered in his gaze.
“Hah. Because I’ve never seen a doctor who could cure an acute case with just a handful of herbal remedies.”
“Yes! Those doctors also said that no one in the world could cure it. Are you saying… you actually can?”
The self-assured smile on Ye Jiamei’s face made the man hopeful, but as he processed her words, his admiration slowly gave way to suspicion.
Ye Jiamei, noticing this change, immediately felt indignant.
“Of course! And let me warn you, if you don’t deal with this now, it’s only a matter of time before it worsens. A full-blown acute episode could cost you your life.”
Her words left the man stunned.
“You—you’re saying the same thing? Two other doctors were bold enough to tell me the same. But they had no solution… Doctor, do you really have a way?”
This time, the man was truly afraid.
Although he hadn’t yet experienced the acute form, he had endured frequent relapses. The thought of it worsening terrified him. And the fact that Ye Jiamei had correctly diagnosed him with just a pulse reading made him believe in her ability.

“If you can truly cure me, I will be forever grateful! Don’t worry, Doctor! I am a man of the martial world, and we honor our debts. Even though this is a free consultation, I will still pay you in full!”
Watching his excitement, Ye Jiamei casually straightened her posture. She rested her hands on the table, fingers lazily intertwined, and smiled at him.

The man, recalling what the other doctors had told him, nodded without hesitation.

Hearing his firm response, Ye Jiamei’s smile deepened. The onlookers, meanwhile, grew even more curious—what method was she about to use?
