Chapter 284: Locust Tree Hotel 2
She quickly sat in an outer seat and then lowered her head to adjust her seatbelt.
The seatbelt was old, and it took her a moment to buckle it. However, as soon as she buckled it, she noticed the half-open window next to her. She had to unbuckle the seatbelt again, close the window, and then re-fasten the seatbelt.
After she finished all of this, the person behind her poked her shoulder.
“Hello, are you a player?”
Chu Yian was startled by the question, then turned her head and looked through the gap between two seatbacks at the person speaking.
It was a girl.
She had a delicate face and looked to be about the same age as Yian.
When she saw Chu Yian turn to look, she quickly offered a friendly smile.
Chu Yian paused at her demeanor, then asked, “What do you want?”
“I wanted to ask, was there a reason you changed seats and closed the window just now? This is my first time in this kind of game, and I don’t understand anything.”
On the bus… besides the driver being an NPC, all the passengers should be players.
Actually, the rules mentioned there would be passengers boarding midway, but Chu Yian felt that there probably weren’t any yet.
Because there were two passengers in the compartment cursing and blaming the super-potential players for bringing them into a death game. Since they weren’t dead yet, it meant those irritable passengers hadn’t boarded.
The rules she held didn’t have any special monster-repelling effects, so helping out in this situation wasn’t a bad idea.
Chu Yian nodded, “I just found a strange set of rules on the seatback in front. If you look behind me, you should find the same thing.”
Her voice wasn’t intentionally lowered, and the people around her also heard it.
“Thank you.”
A voice of thanks came from behind; that person had found the manual.
Soon, she also started closing windows, moving seats, and buckling her seatbelt.
Most of the players on the bus had found the manual. Chu Yian watched as these people began to move according to what the manual said, and she started to consider whether to sleep on the bus.
After all, based on Zhu Shen’s experience with the last rule-based horror game, some things could be completely avoided by sleeping through them.
However, the voice from behind spoke up again.
“Um… my name is Xu Mingzhu.”
Xu Mingzhu seemed to feel that Chu Yian was an easy-going and reliable person, and she wanted to get closer, “What’s your name?”
Chu Yian: “Hello, my name is Wang Da Ni.”
“Da Ni, when we reach the place mentioned in the promotional manual, will we clear the game?”
“I don’t know; this is my first time in this kind of game too.”
Chu Yian shook her head, “But I think sleeping on the bus might be a good option. Maybe when we open our eyes, we’ll be at our destination.”
After saying that, she closed her eyes, preparing to sleep. Xu Mingzhu behind her seemed to want to say something more to her.
But just then, the driver suddenly stopped the car by the roadside, followed by the sound of the door opening—
Thump-thump.
Something was boarding from the front. From the sound, its steps were slow but extremely heavy.
Chu Yian wanted to see what it was, but she was sitting on the side near the door, in one of the last rows. In the dim yellow light, she could barely make out that the boarding entity was very tall.
The bus instantly fell silent because of this.
It seemed the players had all carefully read the manual’s contents and knew to remain quiet when passengers boarded along the way.
As Chu Yian was thinking this, she suddenly noticed an empty seat in front of her to the left.
No, it wasn’t empty.
Someone hadn’t followed the rules and was sitting in the window seat!
