Chapter 118: Zerg Invasion 12
The more severe the situation at the school, the more dangerous it would be for her to stay there.
Comparatively, she naturally hoped to unite with Lu Qingyuan, clear out all the Parasitized people, and use Teacher Lu’s status to see if they could all be sent away. It was already the fourth day of the game; starting to deal with these Parasitized now might be a bit late, but it should be enough time.
The plan was rich, but reality was lean.
Chu Yian completely forgot one important thing: could Lu Qingyuan trust what she said?
Her words, in front of Lu Qingyuan, the biologist, were like a seven-year-old child holding a Ultraman Tiga transformation device and asking an adult, “Do you believe in light?”
He wouldn’t believe it at all.
“I think your delusions are getting worse and worse.”
Lu Qingyuan frowned deeply. “Yesterday, you were talking nonsense about parasites, and now you’ve pulled out a testing stick for who knows what. Do you know how long it takes and how much manpower and resources are needed to develop a testing method for a disease once it appears?
Go to the academic affairs office and reflect on your mistake. I don’t want to see you in my office again.”
Lu Qingyuan was furious.
Chu Yian flinched, taking a step back, and then her temper flared up.
“Why are you being so fierce? If I couldn’t find anyone else, would I have come to you so eagerly?”
She slammed her hand on the table. “Do you dare to come out tonight to see? If it’s not true, I’ll twist my head off and let you kick it like a ball.”
This stance even startled Lu Qingyuan.
“Alright.”
He looked up, his gaze behind his glasses even colder than before. “If there’s nothing, then you’ll take a leave of absence.”
Evening
Chu Yian was waiting at the Fourth Laboratory Building at 5:30.
She sat by the stairs, gnawing on dry bread, still stewing over the morning’s events. Lu Qingyuan, having just finished class and heading back to his office, paused when he saw her.
To be precise, she had been sitting there since he went to class in the afternoon. She had been sitting there for a full two hours, or even longer.
“Come up.”
Lu Qingyuan dropped a sentence and opened the elevator.
Though still angry, having a place to sit was good.
Chu Yian stood up and followed him into the elevator. Just as they entered, another man and woman suddenly squeezed in. Not only did they come in, but the woman was particularly close to Chu Yian, and the other man was also very close to Lu Qingyuan.
Lu Qingyuan looked down at the man, his brows slightly furrowed.
He only felt uncomfortable, but Chu Yian’s safety radar was telling her something was wrong. Seeing the elevator doors about to close, she reached out and slammed the open button, then pulled Lu Qingyuan directly out.
The two left the elevator, while the other man and woman did not follow.
Chu Yian watched them go upstairs, inexplicably relieved.
“What were you doing just now?”
Lu Qingyuan looked at her.
“Don’t you think those two people just now were strange? Normal strangers would spread out and maintain a certain distance. But with so much space in the elevator, they insisted on sticking close. The classmate I know who was parasitized by the worm was just like that.”
After speaking, she remembered Lu Qingyuan’s attitude towards this matter.
“Never mind, you’ll believe it when you see it with your own eyes tonight.”
And today, the two once again spent the first half of the night in Lu Qingyuan’s office.
Late night, 2 AM.
Most night owls were already asleep by now. Chu Yian took out a flashlight and led Lu Qingyuan out of the Fourth Laboratory Building.
Based on her observations yesterday, the most suspected Parasitized people were found downstairs in the dormitories and on the Sports Ground. Normally, in such situations, Chu Yian would hide as far away as possible, but today she had to bring Lu Qingyuan, this stubborn person, to see for himself.
There were even more people outside today.
They hadn’t even reached the Sports Ground when more and more wandering pedestrians on the roadside surrounded them, almost blocking their way.
Lu Qingyuan kicked away one of the boys who had approached and reached out. “Go back to your dorms immediately.”
No one listened to him.
Blank stares,
Strange behavior,
Lu Qingyuan’s initial one-tenth trust in Chu Yian had now grown to six-tenths. With more and more people surrounding them, if they didn’t run now, they wouldn’t be able to escape.
“Stay close to me.”
Lu Qingyuan looked at Chu Yian beside him, then strode forward in front of the students, kicking one away to clear a path.
The moment he lifted his leg,
The straight trousers revealed the outline of his muscles, the bulging curve containing a unique aesthetic of strength.
Chu Yian watched him move his leg from up close.
Teacher Lu truly was born with a good physique; even fighting looked handsome.
“Go.”
At Lu Qingyuan’s command, Chu Yian followed him and ran.
The people behind them also chased after them.
With the experience from last time, Chu Yian ran very fast this time. She even overtook Lu Qingyuan, running to the very front, then directly dashed towards the Fourth Laboratory Building.
However, just then, two figures, a man and a woman, lunged out from the main entrance of the laboratory building.
Chu Yian was almost knocked down by the woman, but fortunately, Lu Qingyuan behind her pulled her back.
Chu Yian instantly went from sprinting to being dragged, as Lu Qingyuan led her towards the Fifth Laboratory Building.
The Fifth Laboratory Building was even more secluded than the Fourth Laboratory Building, with equally few areas open to students. When Lu Qingyuan led her inside, the motion-sensing lights in the lobby immediately lit up, and Lu Qingyuan led her straight to the innermost elevator.
Top floor, 21st floor.
This was a restricted area, accessible only after Lu Qingyuan swiped his card.
The moment the elevator doors closed, they shook off the students who had been chasing them.
On the 21st floor, the entire floor was a laboratory.
It was Chu Yian’s first time seeing such a place, and her initial tension was replaced by curiosity. She looked around and saw an introduction to the place—Jiazi Biological Laboratory 1, the treasure of Hawu University. The most advanced biological laboratory in the country, and the third in the world.
She only briefly glanced at the introduction but immediately knew this thing was incredibly impressive.
Lu Qingyuan, however, had opened several strange machines and then reached out to her. “Where’s your reagent?”
“Here.”
Chu Yian handed him the used reagent. Lu Qingyuan took it, unwrapped it, and dripped some solutions she didn’t recognize onto it to extract the substances within.
After refining these substances and putting them into a machine for analysis, he took out his phone and called a middle-aged man. “Principal, what’s going on with the night security at Fengling Campus? How can there be so many students wandering outside without anyone stopping them?”
It was the principal, surprisingly.
Chu Yian, hearing the title, leaned closer, pricking up her ears to listen.
