Chapter 112: Zerg Invasion 6
Game Day 3
Chu Yian instructed Zhang Lu not to eat at the Cafeteria, then left with her phone.
This morning, she was going to attend the research project Zhou Chen invited her to.
Honestly, Chu Yian knew her own capabilities and had no business participating in anyone’s research project. She just planned to take a look around; if the project had nothing to do with the Zerg, she would immediately leave.
But now…
The Teacher who had set the appointment was already ten minutes late, wasting her precious time.
Finally, footsteps echoed in the corridor, and a man wearing gold-rimmed glasses pushed open the door. His expression was indifferent, his eyes sweeping over the five people seated. “This project will be guided by me. In 5 minutes, the team leader will come up and present the project’s ideas and research methods.”
Teacher Lu!
Chu Yian’s eyes widened.
She hadn’t expected to see him here!
Lu Qingyuan, just like in previous game rounds, had no memory. His gaze towards her was cold and unfamiliar, faintly… even with a hint of disdain?
Chu Yian was overthinking it; Teacher Lu wasn’t disdaining her, but all of them.
Especially after listening to the second-year graduate student senior present his research design, that disdain became even more apparent.
“Is this the caliber of your team?”
The second-year graduate student senior giving the presentation paused, visibly tensing up.
“From the design’s logic to the research methods, you’re completely clueless.”
“If I were your advisor, I’d have you demoted and repeat two more years.”
“The impression your team gives me is confused logic, lack of preparation, and a waste of time.”
Lu Qingyuan’s sharp tongue berated the six people until they huddled together like quails.
The moment Chu Yian walked out of the classroom, her mind was in a daze, feeling like she had discovered a terrifying other side of Teacher Lu.
“Junior!”
Just as Chu Yian was about to leave, Zhou Chen called out to her, catching up from behind. “I’m very sorry, I didn’t know Teacher Lu was so strict. If you don’t want to participate in this project anymore, it’s fine; I feel that the future progress of this project might be very difficult.”
Although this project was a good opportunity, Chu Yian was only a sophomore after all.
He didn’t want this project to cast too big a shadow on Chu Yian’s view of research.
Just as Zhou Chen finished speaking, he felt a sudden sharp pain in his head. A strange sense of nausea welled up, and the food in his stomach began to surge upwards.
“Ugh!”
He quickly covered his mouth and moved away from Chu Yian.
Zhou Chen clutched a trash can and vomited violently, his face instantly turning pale.
“Are you alright?”
Chu Yian followed him.
“I’m fine.”
Zhou Chen didn’t want her to see him in such a state at the moment, trying his best to maintain a considerable distance.
Chu Yian frowned, looking at him. “What have you been eating lately?”
“The Cafeteria.”
The facilities around the school were not yet complete, so most students chose to eat at the school’s three Cafeterias rather than going to further places.
“What exactly did you eat?”
Chu Yian looked at him, and because of her serious expression, Zhou Chen couldn’t help but recall. “Yesterday noon, I had stir-fry at Cafeteria No. 2, in the evening it was zhajiangmian. This morning, eggs, steamed buns, and a cup of coffee.”
The things Zhou Chen ate were completely different from Li Yun’s.
She looked into Zhou Chen’s eyes.
His peach blossom eyes, slightly smiling, were clear and healthy.
“Is something wrong?”
Zhou Chen felt a little embarrassed under her gaze, and he uncomfortably touched the corner of his mouth.
“It’s nothing.”
Chu Yian withdrew her gaze. “Senior, if you’re not feeling well, go to the Hospital. Yesterday, many people at school got food poisoning from eating cafeteria food; your health is important.”
“Okay, thank you.”
Zhou Chen’s face flushed slightly upon hearing this.
He had known the junior for a few days, and she had always been distant towards him, so he didn’t expect her to be so concerned.
Chu Yian didn’t know what he was thinking, only feeling that it was very dangerous.
She absolutely could not eat the Cafeteria food anymore. She said goodbye to Zhou Chen and hurried into the supermarket, preparing to stock up on more food.
Instant noodles, fruit, and drinking water. She carried boxes and bags back to her dorm until her space was completely filled.
“Little Chu, are you trying to move the entire supermarket back here?”
When Zhang Lu returned and saw all these things, she was shocked, then asked mysteriously, “Do you know who I met on my way to the Cafeteria?”
“Who?”
Chu Yian asked casually, though she didn’t care at all.
“Teacher Lu!”
When Zhang Lu mentioned him, her eyes sparkled, even more excited than when she mentioned Zhou Chen.
“Lu Qingyuan?”
Chu Yian stopped what she was doing.
“Yes!”
Zhang Lu cupped her face like a lovesick fan. “He’s so handsome! I really, really like him!”
As soon as she finished speaking, Chu Yian rushed out like the wind.
The current time was 11:46 AM, prime lunch hour. What else could Lu Qingyuan be doing going to the Cafeteria at this time? Eating!
Eating meant he could get infected!
Chu Yian sprinted to the Cafeteria next to their dorm. According to Zhang Lu, he should be there.
The cafeteria was huge.
It was the peak lunch rush, with long queues at the Cafeteria windows and most tables occupied. Chu Yian wanted to find Lu Qingyuan, but the Cafeteria was so crowded it was dizzying.
People were obliviously devouring the food in their bowls.
Some complained about the Cafeteria auntie’s professional shaking hand.
No one noticed the crisis hidden within the food… The first floor was empty, so she headed straight for the second floor.
Lu Qingyuan was actually very conspicuous; he was tall and upright, with a cool and refined demeanor, easily noticeable even in a crowd.
On the second floor, by the window.
The surrounding tables were full, but only the tables near him were empty. And near him, many young girls attracted by his appearance were secretly peeking.
Chu Yian saw him!
Lu Qingyuan was currently sitting down with his tray, chopsticks already holding some food.
“Don’t eat it!”
She shouted, startling everyone around her.
Chu Yian, however, didn’t care about anything else. She rushed forward and slapped his right hand away. The chopsticks and food in Lu Qingyuan’s hand flew out.
He looked at her coldly. “What are you doing?”
“Ah… this.”
Teacher Lu losing his memory in each game round was really troublesome. She glanced at the surrounding students; their gazes were intentionally or unintentionally directed here.
“Come with me first.”
Chu Yian grabbed Lu Qingyuan’s wrist and, without explanation, pulled him outside.
The one-meter-ninety tall man was actually dragged away by her.
Downstairs from the Cafeteria…
On a secluded path with few people coming and going.
Lu Qingyuan pulled his wrist out of her hand. “You are a member of this morning’s project team.”
“Yes!”
Chu Yian hadn’t expected him to remember her and quickly nodded.
Lu Qingyuan glanced at the wristwatch on his hand, exuding an aloofness that kept others at bay. “If you have something to say, say it here. I’m very busy.”
