Chapter 110: Zerg Invasion 4
At lunchtime, Chu Yian also brought Zhang Lu.
Zhou Chen was slightly surprised to see a third person, but he didn’t say much, even serving food for both of them.
“Thank you, Senior.”
A free lunch. Is he asking her for a favor?
Chu Yian finally sensed the unusual kindness from the opposite side and couldn’t help but frown slightly, “Senior, why don’t you tell me what you need me for first.”
She would decide if she could eat the meal after hearing him out.
“Actually, it’s nothing much, I just wanted to ask if you’d like to join our research group, Junior?”
Zhou Chen smiled at her, “Our School of Biochemistry has research projects every year, right? Originally, these projects were conducted by graduate students and senior students, but recently we applied to the Dean for a very good opportunity. If you participate, it will be beneficial for your future postgraduate studies or job search.”
“Senior actually has a research project!”
Zhang Lu looked at him with admiration.
“Yes.”
Zhou Chen nodded, “And the professor in charge of this project is on this campus, which is very convenient for you.”
Inviting her to join a project.
Calling her for such a good thing really made him a kind person. However, compared to postgraduate studies and finding a job, finding a place to save her life was more important to her right now.
“Thank you for your kindness, Senior, but I’ve been very busy lately and don’t have time for anything else.”
“Is that so.”
Zhou Chen’s smile froze on his face, then he nodded again, “Alright, this project mainly researches insects, and it would be too difficult to have a girl like you in a culture room full of insects.”
Insects?!
“This… can I take back what I just said, Senior?”
Chu Yian hadn’t expected their project to be about researching insects; she felt like she could do it now.
“Yes, of course, you can.”
Zhou Chen looked at her in surprise, not expecting the junior to be interested in insects, “Then let’s meet at the Fourth Laboratory Building tomorrow at 9 AM.”
After lunch and bidding farewell to Zhou Chen, Zhang Lu was so excited she was almost jumping.
“Little Chu, how did you meet the Senior? He seems to be interested in you.”
As the campus heartthrob of the School of Biochemistry, many girls liked Zhou Chen. Zhang Lu felt proud that Senior Zhou Chen was pursuing her good friend.
Unfortunately, Chu Yian didn’t hear her words; her attention was drawn to a girl nearby.
The girl’s face was pale, and her steps were unsteady.
As she walked, she suddenly took two steps to a nearby tree, held onto the trunk, and began to vomit.
“Ugh, ugh!”
She vomited violently, as if her stomach acid was about to come out. After a bout of vomiting, she stumbled two steps towards the dormitory and then collapsed without warning.
The surrounding crowd quickly gathered, and Chu Yian also stood at a not-too-far, not-too-close distance, watching her.
“Help!”
“Can anyone help carry my friend to the infirmary!”
The girl’s classmate squatted beside her and shouted.
Soon, several strong young men emerged from the crowd and carried the girl directly to the infirmary.
Chu Yian watched them leave. The students who had gathered also dispersed after the girl was sent to the infirmary. Occasionally, one or two curious students quietly discussed the reason for the girl’s unconsciousness.
“Stomach problems, maybe? When my stomach hurts, I vomit terribly too. Now I don’t dare to skip breakfast.”
“I think she might have low blood sugar, otherwise how could stomach pain make her faint?”
The two students discussed quietly and left. Everyone thought it was just a small incident. A cleaner soon arrived to clean up what the girl had vomited, erasing the last trace.
Chu Yian returned to her dorm room.
The other two roommates had already returned to the dorm.
The room was quiet. Zhang Lu was about to speak when one of the roommates stopped her, “Keep it down, Li Yun is already asleep.”
“So early?”
Zhang Lu’s voice was much lower, and she looked curiously towards the bed on the left.
“She suddenly felt unwell at noon today and went to bed as soon as she got back.”
After a brief exchange, she also got into bed.
Chu Yian watched the three people who had completely hidden themselves behind their bed curtains. She sat alone below, looking at her phone. The group she had joined earlier was proving useful; they were now heatedly discussing one thing—food poisoning at the school Cafeteria.
[Home-baked Sweet Potato: What’s wrong? Today, more than twenty people experienced vomiting after eating. Is it really food poisoning?]
[I Want to Be King: What’s going on? I ate in my dorm, so I’m not clear.]
[Money Bags: I know, I know! The school Hospital is full today, all with students vomiting and feeling dizzy. Some even fainted on the road.]
[Clever Big Blue Tiger: I don’t know what the school leaders are doing. The Cafeteria only has those few dishes every day, expensive and unappetizing, and now they’ve even poisoned people.]
… The girl on the road today wasn’t the only one who vomited.
Seeing this message, Chu Yian decided to go to the Hospital to check it out.
She glanced at the three people already asleep in their beds, put on her backpack, and left the dorm. This campus had a total of two infirmaries, which were similar to clinics, not only having diagnostic areas but also private wards.
Since it was lunchtime, there weren’t many people inside.
The on-duty doctor was dozing at the front desk, and there were one or two students on IV drips inside the infirmary. Chu Yian walked around the area after entering, finding nothing unusual. The air was filled with the smell of disinfectant.
She saw a student on an IV drip alone and approached her, striking up a conversation, “Classmate, what happened to you?”
“A bad cold.”
“I heard that many students with food poisoning were sent here today. Why aren’t there many people in the infirmary?”
“They left not long ago, sent to the city Hospital.”
The student replied.
Is it really food poisoning?
Chu Yian was about to ask more when the on-duty medical teacher interrupted their conversation, “Classmate, are you here to see a doctor?”
His expression was somewhat stern; clearly, he was displeased with Chu Yian’s curiosity.
“Ah… I want to buy some anti-inflammatory medicine and iodine.”
Chu Yian replied, “My friend fell and got hurt today, and asked me to bring some back for her.”
The medical teacher looked at the student receiving the IV drip, then walked to the dispensing room, handing her the medicines she needed, along with extra gauze and cotton swabs.
“Don’t spread rumors; the school’s reputation is very important. Don’t spread or believe rumors casually.”
At noon, the sun was scorching.
In the school’s shaded corridor, cicadas were chirping weakly.
Chu Yian left the infirmary, recalling the situation she had investigated inside.
It’s possible it was truly just a case of food poisoning, and the school had already sent the vomiting students to the city and suppressed the incident to prevent it from escalating.
