Chapter 100: Global Nuclear Explosion 12
The crowd dispersed, and the road became clear.
They came to this small town to replenish supplies. Bai Sinian first had his car driven to a clothing store, leaving five strong men to take Chu Yian inside.
“Choose long-sleeved clothes that can cover your skin. Make them as thick as possible and airtight on the surface. Also, don’t put them on immediately after finding them; seal them up and wear them after you’ve washed yourself.”
Chu Yian reminded him again before looking for clothes, then immediately dove into the piles of clothing.
Her clothes had been worn for three days.
Running around outside, she didn’t know how much radioactive dust was hidden in her clothes, and she had long wanted to change.
Considering the limited space in the car, she only took one set.
As soon as Bai Sinian was also ready, the two of them left immediately.
Next was food.
There were many living people in the town. Although the post-explosion radiation was threatening them, these people must have also risked going out to procure supplies at least once.
The town’s supermarket was empty, with only some scattered snacks on the floor, moldy bread, and unwanted condiments.
“Actually, if there’s no food outside the supermarket, that’s fine. Food outside is contaminated with radioactive dust, and eating it would be even more harmful.”
Food was best stored in lead containers, or at least in iron boxes. This was why everything she hoarded was canned food and compressed biscuits in iron cans.
Chu Yian had played so many rounds of games, but this was the first time she encountered a food shortage.
“Then let’s go look for medicine first.”
On the street, the pharmacy door was tightly shut.
But could that stop Bai Sinian?
No.
He led his men directly inside, startling the pharmacist hiding within. “Hand over all anti-inflammatory drugs, potassium iodide tablets, and other anti-radiation medicines!”
Hearing what Bai Sinian wanted, the pharmacist’s face changed. “No, no, there’s nothing here, get out!”
He pulled a cleaver from under the counter. “Leave quickly, or I won’t be polite to you!”
“Is that so?”
A dark gun barrel was pointed at the pharmacist’s head. Bai Sinian cocked the pistol with a click. “Medicine or your life?”
He wasn’t joking.
“M-my life!”
The employee’s legs immediately trembled, and he cooperatively brought out all the hidden medicines. Bai Sinian handed these medicines to Chu Yian, who was standing by. “Are these the medicines?”
“…Yes.”
Chu Yian nodded.
Bai Sinian had been plundering every step of the way. Although they had weapons, clothes, and medicine, Chu Yian felt like she had become the person she disliked the most.
“What are you thinking? Let’s go.”
Bai Sinian, the bandit leader, patted her. Chu Yian packed the medicines and followed them.
After passing through two small towns, Bai Sinian quickly left. They finally chose a secluded small house by the roadside, got out of the car, and the five strong men began to vomit violently.
It wasn’t just them.
Chu Yian had been running around outside all day and also felt obvious dizziness and nausea, a discomfort originating from within her body, different from motion sickness.
Clearly, the radiation had already affected her.
Chu Yian took out potassium iodide tablets from her treasure box, took one herself, and handed the remaining few to Bai Sinian. They had many people, so the consumption of medicine was high. When there were more people in the team, how to put it, there were both advantages and disadvantages.
Personal safety was not a major concern, but the scarcity of supplies had become the biggest problem.
