Chapter 233: Still Not Selling?
Old Master Lu was already over seventy, and Xu Youyou had long known from Lu Jingyao’s descriptions that his health wasn’t great, having undergone several major surgeries.
But the elderly man in front of her, while his age was apparent, looked full of life, and his condition didn’t seem bad at all.
“Miss Xu, I’ve wanted to meet you for a long time. I even thought about going to Hu City to see you, but everyone was worried I’d scare you. Now that you’ve finally come to Jinling, it’s truly fate,” Old Master Lu said warmly, appearing like an ordinary kind and gentle grandfather.
Xu Youyou, however, didn’t dare to show any slackness. She replied, “Grandfather Lu, I haven’t visited you yet, that’s my fault.”
Old Master Lu shook his head. “There’s no such thing as fault. Don’t say that. If anyone’s at fault, it’s Jingyao. That blockhead really took too long to come to his senses!”
When Lu Jingyao was suddenly scolded, he wasn’t upset at all. Instead, he said, “Grandpa, don’t forget about our matter.”
Xu Youyou tugged at Lu Jingyao’s sleeve. She felt it was a bit too eager to bring up their request right after arriving.
But Old Master Lu simply laughed heartily. “Miss Xu, my grandson’s temperament is straightforward. He takes after me. I’ve heard from Jingyao that you’re in trouble. Just tell me the details. We’ll handle your matter first, then we’ll discuss other things, alright?”
Xu Youyou looked at the elderly man’s open and easygoing demeanor. Her initial discomfort about meeting a senior gradually faded.
After hearing her request, Old Master Lu nodded. “I understand. I’ll have someone take care of it right away. We’ll try to give you an answer today.”
Xu Youyou glanced at the darkening sky, feeling a little uneasy, but seeing the old man’s confident expression, she didn’t voice any discouraging thoughts.
“Miss Xu, let me tell you, all the dishes tonight are grown by me personally. They’re all green, pollution-free organic food that you can’t find outside. You must try them!” Old Master Lu said proudly.
Xu Youyou wasn’t particularly good at interacting with elders, but Old Master Lu was too easygoing. He was very talkative, so Xu Youyou didn’t have to put much thought into polite phrases. Just answering a few questions was enough to keep the conversation lively.
Less than half an hour later, Xu Youyou had already been calling him “Grandfather” in a very familiar manner, which made Old Master Lu very satisfied.
Although the quality of the food wasn’t as good as Qing Yatou’s cooking, just the fact that it was “grown by the old man himself” was enough to show his sincerity.
Just after the meal, someone came in.
“Miss Xu, we’ve found the person you’re looking for. When would you like to meet him?”
Xu Youyou was shocked. “You found him so quickly? Has it even been an hour yet?”
Assistant Liu, who was so capable, had spent an entire day without any results. She hadn’t expected Old Master Lu’s people to act so fast.
Old Master Lu smiled and said, “Little Miss Xu, next time if you need to find someone in Jinling, just call me, and I’ll have them find them for you right away. I might not have many talents, but I’m good at finding people.”
Xu Youyou thought to herself, this isn’t just being good at finding people; this is pure Jinling’s networking emperor.
“Grandfather, I really don’t know how to thank you. You’ve really helped me a lot!” Xu Youyou said gratefully.
Old Master Lu looked at his precious grandson and Xu Youyou standing together, so well-matched, and felt very satisfied. He waved his hand and said, “Little girl, we’re family. No need to be so polite. As long as you don’t mind Jingyao’s age, I’ll be happy if you visit this old man more often.”
Old Master Lu knew the younger generation was eager, so he didn’t make them stay longer but urged them to handle their business.
As Xu Youyou got into the car, she couldn’t help but feel that the evening felt like a dream. “Grandfather really is different from ordinary elders.”
Ordinary elders have usually formed their fixed ways of doing things and don’t know how to communicate with young people. Either the conversations are dry, or they stubbornly stick to their own etiquette theories, filled with unnecessary formalities.
Lu Jingyao said, “Grandpa always says he wants to be an old man that doesn’t annoy others. He’s open-minded and wants to spend time with the younger generation, so he’s been learning the way young people handle things.”
Xu Youyou nodded. “Grandfather is so fashionable. He’s more open-minded than many people in their forties or fifties.”
“That’s why my cousins love spending time with him. They even look forward to living with him,” Lu Jingyao said.
Xu Youyou thought to herself, an elder who doesn’t have controlling tendencies, doesn’t cause trouble, and can help when needed—who wouldn’t like such a person?
Little Green-Haired Guy clearly didn’t like him.
He was locked in the basement of a villa. Despite having enough food and water, he couldn’t help but shout: “Let me out! You’re illegally detaining me! I’m going to call the police!”
The door suddenly opened, and Little Green-Haired Guy, scared, stepped back holding a chair. “I’m telling you, I’m not easy to mess with. I’ve got a big brother behind me…”
Xu Youyou thought Old Master Lu had provided the address where Little Green-Haired Guy was hiding, but she didn’t expect him to bring the man directly to his own place, and in such an unfriendly manner.
Recalling Old Master Lu’s kind and approachable demeanor, Xu Youyou couldn’t help but feel the contrast.
Lu Jingyao lowered his voice and explained, “Don’t worry, Youyou. Although Grandpa used a little trick to get him here, he’s always been careful and won’t break the law.”

When the lights came on, Little Green-Haired Guy recognized Xu Youyou and Lu Jingyao, and his eyes immediately filled with rage.
“I’ve told you, that woman had a miscarriage on her own. It has nothing to do with me! Don’t try to pin this on me!”
“We didn’t come to find you because of her,” Xu Youyou said.
Little Green-Haired Guy furrowed his brows, looking at her. “I won’t sell the house, don’t even think about it.”
“Why not sell?” Xu Youyou asked, confused.
Little Green-Haired Guy remained silent.
Xu Youyou thought for a moment, “I’ve had someone assess it. Your house’s market value is about eight million. I’ll offer sixteen million. Will you sell?”
Little Green-Haired Guy’s eyes flashed with interest but he stubbornly held back. “Not selling!”
Xu Youyou sensed an opportunity and raised the offer again. “Thirty million.”
This time, Little Green-Haired Guy nearly bit his lip, unable to speak, and shook his head vigorously.
Xu Youyou: “I’m offering sixty million for an eight-million house. Still not selling?”
