Chapter 161: The Unpleasant Villa
Since Mrs. Gu had lost face at the banquet because of Xu Youyou, she knew very well in her heart that it was highly unlikely she would ever reconcile with this daughter.
Since Xu Youyou had no more ties to her family, and there was no immediate way to make things difficult for her, Mrs. Gu decided to simply ignore her, just as she had done countless times before.
Now, when they crossed paths, Mrs. Gu hadn’t spoken yet, but Gu Xueying smiled and asked, “Sister, do you want to buy this villa too?”
Xu Youyou didn’t respond, but her dog, Guai Guai, suddenly barked.
“Woof woof! This house smells weird, who knows what’s happened here. Poop scooper, let these two annoying people buy it! I don’t like their smell!”
Xu Youyou patted the dog’s head, thinking to herself that heroes think alike, and she was about to leave with her group.
But unexpectedly, a young man with white hair, standing beside Gu Xueying, suddenly became very angry and questioned, “Are you deaf? Why aren’t you answering when Sister Xueying speaks to you?”
Xu Youyou looked at the young man. Another familiar face from her past life. He was Mrs. Gu’s sister’s son, who had always been chasing after Gu Xueying.
“If someone asks you a question, you have to answer? If I told you to die, would you do it too?” Xu Youyou retorted.
The white-haired young man said, “You have no manners! No respect!”
Xu Youyou replied, “You’re just a little follower, so don’t get involved in adult matters.”
Gu Xueying suddenly looked sad and said, “Sister, why do you have to make things so awkward with the family? Is it because Mom and Dad are buying me this villa that you’re upset?”
Xu Youyou had no idea about this, but since Gu Xueying brought it up, Xu Youyou understood she was itching for a fight and trying to provoke her.
“Your mom is so good to you, and she’s only buying you one villa? The Gu family has hundreds of billions in assets. I thought they would get you a villa worth hundreds of billions. But this? Is this all?” Xu Youyou said casually.
Although Gu Xueying was getting a villa as her dowry, this was based on the fact that she was currently courting the young heir of Star Diamond. If she couldn’t find a husband with wealth greater than or equal to the Gu family’s, this villa might not even be guaranteed.
Gu Xueying didn’t doubt the Gu family’s ruthlessness. They only cared about her because she had a good reputation in high society and many suitors.
Hearing Xu Youyou say this, Gu Xueying tried to resist the urge to respond and instead spoke softly, “Sister, our parents’ money should be managed by them. As younger generations, we shouldn’t be meddling.”
Xu Youyou casually responded, “I didn’t say anything about you meddling. Why are you so quick to defend yourself? Are you feeling guilty?”
Gu Xueying didn’t expect Xu Youyou to directly expose her thoughts. She cautiously looked at Mrs. Gu’s expression.
Meanwhile, the white-haired young man, seeing his “goddess” being bullied, jumped up and shouted, “Sister Xueying hasn’t offended you. Why are you speaking like this, with such sarcasm and no manners?”
Xu Youyou nodded, “I have no manners, because I’m an orphan, with no father or mother.”
Mrs. Gu, who had remained silent up until now, suddenly turned pale with anger. “Enough!”
Xu Youyou smiled and said, “Mrs. Gu, this is just the beginning. Why are you in such a hurry?”
Mrs. Gu coldly replied, “Xu Youyou, I advise you to know when to stop. What happened back then was just an accident. You don’t need to be hostile every time we meet. The Gu family doesn’t owe you anything!”
Xu Youyou showed no panic in response to her accusations. Instead, she smiled and said, “Mrs. Gu, you really think too highly of yourself. Are you worried I’m going to settle the score with you? Is that why you’ve been following me around? Otherwise, if I’m just looking at houses, why would you be tailing me?”
In her previous life with the Gu family, Xu Youyou had always felt the need to prove she had no ill intentions, as if she were always in the defendant’s seat. She even thought she was a criminal back then.
Now, living a second life and stepping out of the Gu family’s twisted circle, she suddenly realized these people were just like anyone else.
For example, now, the elegant Mrs. Gu, who had always prided herself on her demeanor, was now fuming, like a pot of boiling water, with the lid about to fly off.
“Who would follow you, you wild girl…” Mrs. Gu began.
Xu Youyou quickly interrupted, “Everything has its order. Wherever I go, you go. I go to the capital, and Gu Xueying follows. I go to the Jade Gallery, and Gu Xueying is still lurking around. I’ve known all along that your family has been plotting to get my fortune. You can give up on those plans; I’m not going to do a paternity test with you.”
Once a formal paternity test was done, it would legally confirm their blood relationship, allowing Xu Youyou to inherit the Gu family’s wealth, and in turn, the Gu family would be entitled to inherit Xu Youyou’s money.
At the banquet, Xu Youyou had used similar rhetoric to strike at the Gu couple, and now, she was doing it again, causing Mrs. Gu to crack.
“Who’s interested in your pennies!” Mrs. Gu’s voice became sharp.
Xu Youyou seemed to be waiting for her to say this. She quickly replied, “If you’re not interested in my money, are you really going to buy this house today? If you don’t, it means you’ve been following me!”
Mrs. Gu, so angry she didn’t even think it through, immediately said, “The Gu family has plenty of money. I’ll buy it now, so you can see what you’ve missed!”
Xu Youyou understood her meaning perfectly. Mrs. Gu was hoping she would regret not accepting the Gu family’s offer to recognize her as family, showing her the real treatment of Gu Xueying, their daughter.
Xu Youyou smiled. “I don’t believe it.”
Those three words seemed to have a surprising impact.
Mrs. Gu, especially sensitive to others thinking she didn’t have money, turned to the agent she had come with and said, “Sign the deal now, I’ll buy it right away!”
The agent couldn’t have been happier. “Of course, Madam, don’t worry. I’ll contact the owner right away.”
Meanwhile, the agents who had been serving Xu Youyou all wore bitter expressions. They hadn’t sold the house yet, and now this luxury mansion was going to be sold right under their noses, even though it was their own client who was making the purchase.
Gu Xueying, now too busy to pay attention to Xu Youyou’s taunts, was only hoping her mother would act faster.
Xu Youyou, however, wasn’t in a hurry to leave. Instead, she casually sat down in a corner and continued to fan the flames. “If the Gu family were really a rich family, they’d treat their children equally. What Gu Fengchuan owns, Gu Xueying should get too.”
Gu Xueying now couldn’t find anything wrong with Xu Youyou. She was just hoping Xu Youyou would continue speaking, hoping she could get more.
Mrs. Gu, hearing this, wasn’t fooled, but the Gu family’s vast wealth was not under her control.
“Even if we divide it equally among the children, it doesn’t concern you! This villa is a dowry for my daughter. People like you can only envy from the sidelines!” Mrs. Gu deliberately said.
She thought she would see Xu Youyou regret her decision, but to her surprise, Xu Youyou still remained calm.
In less than half an hour, the owner of the villa arrived in a rush.
The owner was a middle-aged man wearing black-framed glasses. Hearing about the commotion, he immediately raised the price. “Four hundred million.”
Xu Youyou raised an eyebrow. The agents had quoted her 370 million earlier, saying the owner was in a hurry to sell and go abroad. Why had the price suddenly gone up?
