Chapter 42: Perfect Coordination
“Nice job!”
Wang Qiang silently cheered.
Fang Xiaocao’s small maneuver fit right into his plan.
He subtly signaled to the young female officer.
She understood and discreetly took two steps forward, blocking Wang Qiang from view.
Wang Qiang slowly crouched and reached for the pistol at his waist.
Since he was escorting a suspect to the hospital, his gun was loaded but the safety was still on.
Carefully, he flipped the safety off and primed the firing pin, making the pistol ready to fire at any moment.
He tapped the female officer’s leg lightly with his finger.
She got the message, positioned her hands behind her back, and prepared for an assault.
Wang Qiang discreetly handed the pistol to her and slowly stood up.
Taking advantage of Han Xue’s distraction, he moved out from behind the female officer.
Han Xue did not deserve to die. Wang Qiang would only use the gun as a last resort.
His plan was to wait for the right moment to strike while the female officer covered him.
If he failed to subdue Han Xue, she would fire before Han Xue could harm the hostage.
Fang Xiaocao noticed Wang Qiang’s movements and deliberately took a few steps toward the hospital room, leaning against the wall.
That particular spot was outside Han Xue’s direct line of sight.
If Han Xue wanted to keep her eyes on her, she would have to step out of the room.
Since Han Xue’s full attention was on Fang Xiaocao, she instinctively dragged Su Wanqing forward, moving even further out of the room.
“Fang Xiaocao, what are you up to now?” Han Xue shouted.
“Nothing!”
“I’m just a little tired and needed to lean against the wall.”
Fang Xiaocao shrugged, smiling.
“You tired too? Wanna lean with me?” she asked playfully.
“Cut the tricks! Are you coming in or not?” Han Xue asked coldly.
“If you don’t come in, I’ll bite her!”
“My patience is running out!”
“Even if I take one person down with me, it’s worth it!”
“If Su Wanqing gets infected because of you, won’t you feel guilty?”
“She’ll hate you for life!”
Han Xue sneered, her voice eerily cold.
“Tell her to switch with you!”
“Tell Fang Xiaocao to save you!”
She pulled at Su Wanqing and barked at her.
“Ugh…”
Su Wanqing trembled and whimpered.
Fear.
A primal fear of danger.
Even someone as carefree as Su Wanqing was now left with nothing but raw terror.
“Aiya, stop scaring Wanqing.”
“I’ll switch with her, okay?”
Seeing the fear in Su Wanqing’s eyes, Fang Xiaocao sighed dramatically.
She then pretended to walk toward the hospital room.
Han Xue’s eyes gleamed with excitement at her movement.
“Come here, hurry up!” she murmured.
However, after taking two steps, Fang Xiaocao suddenly stopped.
“What are you up to now?” Han Xue screeched.
“You wouldn’t attack Su Wanqing once I go in, would you?”
“If that’s your plan, I can’t let her get hurt.”
Fang Xiaocao blinked, grinning.
“Stop talking nonsense! My patience is wearing thin!”
Han Xue screamed in frustration.
She hadn’t expected Fang Xiaocao to see through her intentions.
For a moment, she lost her composure.
Her body trembled with agitation.
Seeing this, Wang Qiang’s eyes lit up.
“This is my chance!”
He tensed his body, his expression steely.
In the next second, like a coiled spring, Wang Qiang launched forward.
As he moved, the female officer raised the pistol, its black barrel aimed at Han Xue.
If Han Xue made any move to hurt Su Wanqing, she wouldn’t hesitate to pull the trigger.
Han Xue sensed Wang Qiang’s movement and instinctively turned her head.
Before she could react, a fist the size of a sandbag came into view.
BANG!
Wang Qiang’s punch landed squarely on Han Xue’s face with a dull thud.
Before she could even scream, he twisted her wrist, grabbed Su Wanqing, and pulled her away, pushing her to safety.
At the same time, he pivoted and executed a clean over-the-shoulder throw, slamming Han Xue to the ground.
Immediately, he pinned her down and twisted her arms behind her back.
The female officer reacted swiftly, stepping forward and pointing the gun at Han Xue.
“Don’t move!” she commanded.
Han Xue was completely stunned by Wang Qiang’s rapid moves.
It wasn’t until she felt the cold metal of the handcuffs that she snapped back to reality and started struggling wildly.
“Stay still!”
The female officer barked.
“Behave yourself!”
Wang Qiang yanked Han Xue up and warned her sternly.
“Fang Xiaocao! I won’t let you get away with this!”
Realizing she was caught, Han Xue could only glare at Fang Xiaocao and let out a desperate, furious roar.
“Quiet!”
Wang Qiang scolded again.
He took the gun from the female officer, secured the safety, and passed Han Xue over to her.
Then, he pulled a face mask from his pocket and put it on Han Xue to prevent her from biting anyone in desperation.
After all, Han Xue’s bite was far more dangerous than a dog’s.
A dog bite could be treated with a rabies vaccine.
But if Han Xue bit someone, there was no vaccine for that.
“Take her for a blood test.”
“Compare her sample with the virus found in Qi Yu’s system.”
“After that, return to headquarters.”
Wang Qiang instructed the team.
“Yes, Team Leader!”
The three officers responded in unison and escorted Han Xue and Shen Tao to an isolated hospital room.
“Xiaocao, great job!”
Wang Qiang praised her without hesitation.
“Hehe, Officer Wang, you’re the real hero here.”
Fang Xiaocao grinned.
Wang Qiang’s lightning-fast takedown had left her in awe.
“Not bad at all, City Bureau’s rising star!”
She silently applauded.
“You guys rest up. I’m heading upstairs to check on things.”
Wang Qiang said with a smile.
“Go ahead, Officer Wang!”
Fang Xiaocao nodded.
Wang Qiang gave a brief nod before heading upstairs.
“Wanqing, are you okay?”
Once he was gone, Fang Xiaocao walked over to Su Wanqing, who was still trembling in Yun Luoshu’s arms.
“Y-Yeah… I’m fine…”
Su Wanqing stammered.
“Are you hurt anywhere?”
Fang Xiaocao asked with concern.
“N-No…”
Su Wanqing shivered as she replied.
“Phew…”
“That’s good. But if you feel anything wrong, tell me immediately.”
“Early testing might help prevent infection.”
Fang Xiaocao said seriously.
“Okay…”
Su Wanqing nodded.
“Luoshu, take Wanqing to her room.”
“We still need to lift Wen Shi.”
Fang Xiaocao told Yun Luoshu.
“Got it!”
Without hesitation, Yun Luoshu picked up Su Wanqing in a princess carry and took her inside.
“Damn…”
“She really has the strength of an Alaskan Malamute.”
Seeing this, Fang Xiaocao sighed.
Even most guys couldn’t manage such a smooth princess carry.
