Chapter 27: Fang Xiaocao : How Much Is Abortion Medicine?
Watching the three “pregnant women” waddle out of the hotpot restaurant, supporting each other, Fang Xiaocao’s eyes were full of helplessness.
She took out her phone, snapped a picture of the scene, and posted it on her social media with a caption:
Question: Three best friends, all “pregnant” at the same time with the scumbag offspring of beef slices, tripe, duck intestines, and yellow throat. As a best friend, how should I help them with prenatal care?
Answer: A bottle of digestive tablets is all they need for an abortion.
For prenatal care… you’ll need to treat them to hotpot for ten months straight.
After reading the comments, Fang Xiaocao turned around and walked into a pharmacy.
“Hello, how much is abortion medicine?”
The words slipped out before she could think.
The pharmacy salesgirl was stunned, staring at Fang Xiaocao’s stomach with a complicated expression.
“If it’s an unplanned pregnancy, please go to a proper hospital for consultation,” the salesgirl said gently.
Cough, cough. “Sorry, I misspoke.”
“Just give me a bottle of digestive tablets.”
Fang Xiaocao’s face turned red with embarrassment.
Where’s a hole for me to crawl into?
She felt so awkward that she could practically dig an entire courtyard house with her toes.
Under the salesgirl’s bewildered gaze, she quickly scanned the code, grabbed the digestive tablets, and fled the store.
“Xiaocao, what did you steal?”
Seeing Fang Xiaocao’s panicked state, Wen Shi, the Samoyed, blinked curiously.
“I went to buy you guys abortion medicine.”
Fang Xiaocao rolled her eyes and tossed the digestive tablets at Wen Shi.
After driving the three “pregnant” women back to school, she was about to head to her hotel when her phone rang.
♪ “Two tigers, two tigers, running fast~” ♪
She glanced at the calling number..
Song Lin!
“Captain Song?”
Fang Xiaocao blinked and picked up.
“Captain Song, what’s up?”
“Oh? You knew I had something to say before I even spoke?”
Song Lin’s deep voice came through the receiver.
“Captain Song, are you testing me?”
Fang Xiaocao laughed.
“Oh? And why do you say that?”
“Can’t I just call to chat?”
Song Lin chuckled.
“WeChat exists for a reason, you know? Who calls just to chat?”
Fang Xiaocao sighed.
“Haha, you’re sharp as ever.”
Song Lin laughed again before his tone shifted.
“Let’s get to business. The case at Villa No. 5 has been reopened.”
Fang Xiaocao froze.
“The Villa No. 5 case has been reopened?”
“The head in the safe—was the identity confirmed?”
She asked curiously.
“Yes, the identity has been confirmed.”
“That’s exactly why the case is being reopened—we found an important lead.”
Song Lin said gravely.
“Whose head was it?”
Fang Xiaocao asked, genuinely curious.
Even though she already knew the answer, she still wanted to see how Song Lin had identified it so quickly.
More importantly, she wanted to verify the intel from Hot Noodles.
Because what Hot Noodles said was too bizarre—
A younger sister was murdered. The surviving older sister didn’t call the police but instead assumed her dead sister’s identity and lived abroad for five years.
Even the wildest mystery novels wouldn’t dare write something like this.
“The case is still under investigation. That’s confidential.”
Song Lin said flatly.
“Alright, alright, I won’t ask.”
Fang Xiaocao shrugged.
“By the way, congratulations on getting reinstated, Captain Song!”
She grinned.
“Haha, thanks.”
Song Lin chuckled.
“So, Captain Song, why are you calling me? Surely not just to give me an update?”
She asked curiously.
“We’re conducting another search of Villa No. 5, and we need your cooperation as the owner.”
Song Lin said seriously.
“Alright, I’ll be there right away. See you soon.”
Fang Xiaocao hung up, started her Land Rover, and sent a voice message to Hot Noodles:
“The Villa No. 5 case is being reopened. Why does Song Lin need me to cooperate with the investigation?”
She was puzzled.
Villa No. 5 had been sealed off. There were no personal belongings of hers inside.
Why did they need her there for another search?
【Hot Noodles: Digging up a body!】
“What?”
Fang Xiaocao gasped, slamming the brakes. The Land Rover, just starting to move, screeched to a stop in the parking lot.
“Digging up a body?”
Oh my god—there’s another corpse at Villa No. 5?!
Hot Noodles’ reply was short, but it sent shivers down her spine.
Her whole body felt numb.
Just how many ghostly secrets did this villa hold?
【Hot Noodles: Don’t panic. Just think about that huge bounty—still scared?】
“Yes…”
Fang Xiaocao blinked, answering weakly.
【Hot Noodles: Can you have some guts?】
“I’m a girl, okay? Being scared of dead bodies is normal!”
She snapped.
【Hot Noodles: You’ll get used to it.】
Fang Xiaocao: …
Is this girl even human?!
“Get used to it?”
What kind of normal girl would get used to living with corpses?!
“Get used to your ass!”
She muttered under her breath, put away her phone, and drove to Villa No. 5.
Her red Land Rover rolled into the Junyue Villa district and stopped in front of Villa No. 5.
Stepping out, she saw Song Lin waiting at the entrance.
“Captain Song!”
She greeted him.
“Thanks for coming all the way here.”
Song Lin smiled.
“It’s no trouble. Cooperating with the police is my duty.”
She grinned.
“So, what do you need me to do?”
She probed.
“We’re excavating the basement floor. It’ll cause some damage to the property, so we need your signed consent.”
Song Lin said seriously.
“Okay…”
Fang Xiaocao shuddered slightly.
Though he was being vague, thanks to Hot Noodles’ spoiler, she already knew—
The sister’s body was buried beneath the basement.
Thinking back to how she had locked herself inside that very basement, just inches away from a corpse, sent chills down her spine.
Song Lin watched her reaction and chuckled.
“Quick-witted as ever.”
“Interested in switching to a criminal investigation major?”
“If your entrance exam scores are good enough, I can help you transfer.”
He said with a smile.
Brave, observant, and sharp—
All qualities he admired in an investigator.
