Amateur Assassins

Chapter 189: Amateur Assassins

Hearing the scouting assassin’s words, Fang Xiaocao and Tom exchanged a knowing glance and prepared to strike.

Fang Xiaocao gripped the steel nails in her hand, ready to launch them at any moment.

As the assassin signaled, over a dozen men flooded into the room, each brandishing gleaming long knives and daggers.

Seeing this, Fang Xiaocao blinked.

These assassins didn’t seem very professional.

Not only did they lack the discipline of trained killers, but their stances were loose and sloppy—far from what a well-trained assassin should be.

Fang Xiaocao turned to Tom and gave him a questioning look.

Tom shook his head slightly.

She blinked again, puzzled by Tom’s response.

Before she could figure it out, a sharp click pulled her back to reality.

Fang Xiaocao turned toward the sound—it was the assassins closing the door behind them.

She narrowed her eyes and did a quick count. Seventeen of them.

Only now did she realize just how spacious her hotel suite was. Though the bedroom was a bit small, the living area was large enough to hold this many people without feeling cramped.

Tom gave her a glance, lifted his short-handled axe, and made a chopping motion.

Fang Xiaocao gave a slight nod. She tightened her grip on the steel nails and, with a flick of her wrist, sent them flying at the clustered assassins.

Whoosh! Whoosh! Whoosh!

A series of piercing sounds cut through the air.

Cold flashes streaked across the dimly lit room.

In the next second…

A chorus of agonized screams erupted.

Six assassins crumpled to the ground, writhing in pain as they clutched their wounds, rolling on the floor in agony.

“Who’s there?!”

“It’s an ambush!”

“Get ready for a fight!”

“Show yourself, you coward!”

Caught off guard, the assassins immediately panicked, yelling and shifting their stances, desperately scanning the room for the hidden attacker.

“Go!”

Fang Xiaocao flung out another six steel nails and charged out from behind the sofa, short-handled axe in hand, lunging at the remaining eleven assassins.

Tom didn’t hesitate. He leaped out after her, keeping pace to ensure she wasn’t harmed.

“Brothers, fight together!”

“Kill them!”

“Charge!”

Seeing their enemies emerge, the assassins roared and charged, weapons raised high.

But they ran straight into Fang Xiaocao’s second wave of steel nails.

“Aaahhh!”

More screams rang out.

Five more assassins collapsed.

With just two rounds of thrown steel nails, Fang Xiaocao had taken down eleven men—two-thirds of their group—before the fight had even truly begun.

Tom’s long legs carried him swiftly into the fray. Within moments, he had engaged six assassins in close combat.

With precise and brutal efficiency, he dropped two assassins in mere seconds. By the time Fang Xiaocao reached his side, he had already knocked out a third with a single punch.

“What the hell?” Fang Xiaocao muttered. “Stealing all my kills?”

She quickly flicked another steel nail, piercing an assassin’s hand, then delivered a sharp kick, sending him sprawling.

She had moved fast.

Nearly instantaneous.

Yet when she turned to look for her next opponent, she found only Tom standing beside her.

Fang Xiaocao: …

She was annoyed at having her kills stolen but also silently marveled at Tom’s combat prowess.

More than ever, she was grateful that she had impulsively used her hypnosis technique to plant a mental seed in Tom, securing his loyalty.

In just a few days, he had already proven invaluable.

Tom grabbed her hand and pulled her toward the bedroom. He took out his axe, gun, black dagger, and all other weapons, stuffing them into Fang Xiaocao’s bag.

“Your Highness, take the weapons and go. Head to Villa No. 5 and wait for me. I’ll stay and deal with the police.”

Fang Xiaocao froze, staring at him in surprise.

“Your Highness, now is not the time to hesitate. You must leave immediately,” Tom urged with a smile. “If the police find these weapons, we’ll be in serious trouble.”

“But what about the steel nails? How will you explain those?” she asked.

She knew Tom wasn’t actually worried about the weapons—he was just trying to ensure her safety.

Under normal circumstances, this could be considered self-defense. Tom was a foreigner, which meant this would be classified as an international case, and the police likely wouldn’t search him.

“Your Highness, I can throw knives too. Not as well as you, but enough to convince them.”

With that, Tom picked up a steel nail, flicked his wrist, and sent it flying.

Thud!

The nail embedded itself in the door frame.

Fang Xiaocao blinked.

Mentally, she gave Tom a solid 6/10.

“Your Highness, go! There’s no time left!” Tom urged again.

“Fine, I’ll wait for you at Villa No. 5!”

Fang Xiaocao nodded, grabbed the bag of weapons, and leaped out of the open window.

She landed with a roll, dispersing the impact, then quickly scanned her surroundings. Seeing no one nearby, she rose and disappeared into the night, heading toward the villa.

Knock, knock, knock—

Just as Tom closed the window, there was a firm knock at the door.

“Open up! Police!”

Tom calmly shut the window and responded, “Coming!”

With that, he walked to the door and unlocked it.

“Good evening. Someone reported a suspected brawl in your room,” an officer said, briefly hesitating upon seeing Tom’s foreign features before flashing his badge.
