Chapter 105: The Urgent Harbinger of Death
Right now…
Zhi Qi’s suspicion was almost impossible to clear.
Fang Xiaocao didn’t know whether to feel relieved or to cry.
Relieved because she had successfully identified the person secretly trying to kill her.
Crying because that person turned out to be her long-time best friend.
Wiping away the tears on her delicate face, Fang Xiaocao muttered, “What should I do with these two bombs?”
Just then, her phone screen lit up.
The glow caught her attention.
She blinked and reached for her phone.
A WeChat message!
She unlocked the screen and opened WeChat.
[Zhi Qi: Xiaocao, we’ve arrived.]
[Zhi Qi: We’re in the hotel lobby now. Just go to the underground parking lot, drive your car out, and come meet us in the lobby.]
Looking at Zhi Qi’s message, Fang Xiaocao let out a cold laugh.
“So, it really is you!”
“You don’t even bother acting anymore, huh?”
She sneered.
Zhi Qi’s message was almost laughable.
She had spent so much effort trying to convince herself that Zhi Qi was innocent, yet now, after setting everything up and making sure her death was certain, Zhi Qi didn’t even care to keep up the act.
“Alright, wait for me a bit.”
Fang Xiaocao responded with a cold smile.
Exiting the chat with Zhi Qi, she opened another contact, Hot Noodles, typed a message, and hit send:
“Are you there?”
Her situation had reached this point, meaning the timeline Hot Noodles was in should have already unfolded further.
Fang Xiaocao wanted to know what happened next.
She was deeply curious—how exactly did Zhi Qi foresee future events?
Why was she so determined to kill her?
Was it the same as her, where she could chat with her future self?
If so, how had Zhi Qi gained this ability?
Could it really be as she theorized—that in a certain timeline, Zhi Qi successfully killed her, took her phone, and gained the ability to contact her future self?
If that was the case, when had Zhi Qi made contact with her future self?
Was it the day she suddenly remembered her past at the orphanage?
Or was it more recent?
Or maybe it was something else entirely—something like rebirth or time travel?
If it was either of those, when exactly had Zhi Qi been reborn or traveled back?
So many questions swirled in Fang Xiaocao’s mind.
But then…
[Contact does not exist!]
“Damn it, did something else change?”
Seeing the error message, she cursed under her breath.
Not being able to reach Hot Noodles made her uneasy.
That meant there was still an unexpected variable she hadn’t accounted for.
That was dangerous.
“What did I overlook?”
She murmured to herself.
Just then, her phone screen lit up again, snapping her back to reality.
“Could it be Hot Noodles?”
Eyes lighting up, she quickly unlocked the screen and opened WeChat, hopeful.
But her excitement turned to disappointment in an instant.
The message wasn’t from Scalding Noodles.
It was from Zhi Qi.
“Again?”
She frowned.
She opened the chat and read the new message.
[Zhi Qi: Xiaocao, are you coming down yet?]
Seeing this, Fang Xiaocao let out a cold laugh.
“You’re really that impatient to see me dead, huh?”
Zhi Qi’s message might as well have said, ‘Why aren’t you dead yet? I’ve been waiting forever!’
“Heh…”
“As if I’d let you have your way.”
She muttered.
[“I’ll be right there!”]
She replied with a smirk, then put her phone away and checked her gear.
Since the bombed car wasn’t the biggest threat anymore, she had to be extra cautious.
Two throwing knives.
One can of pepper spray.
One high-powered flashlight.
A bundle of zip ties.
That was everything she had for self-defense.
Without access to firearms, this was the best setup she could manage.
“It’s a bit basic, but it’ll do.”
She muttered, reaching for the car door.
But the moment she looked up, she froze in terror.
A grinning face was pressed against the car window, staring straight at her.
“Sh*t!”
She nearly jumped out of her skin.
Who would understand this nightmare?
Sitting alone in a car in an underground parking lot, looking up, only to find a huge face staring back at you through the window…
That was the kind of horror movie scene no one wanted to experience.
It was him.
The killer from earlier.
The one who had planted bombs on the red convertible and changed disguises so smoothly.
“Why is he back?”
She whispered in shock.
Outside the window, the man’s lips moved.
“There really was someone in here. Naughty~”
“Naughty?”
“Naughty, my ass!”
She scoffed internally.
“Be a good girl and come out now~”
“Otherwise~”
“I’ll blow you up along with the car!”
The killer grinned menacingly.
“No, no, no! Don’t do that!”
She quickly shouted.
If he planted bombs on her car, she’d be done for.
One explosion, game over.
“Hehe~”
“You better behave, then~”
The killer sneered.
“I will! I promise!”
She nodded frantically.
“Behave?”
“Does he not realize he’s staring directly at a hypnotist?”
She smirked in her heart.
“Hehe~”
“Now, roll down the window. No tricks!”
The killer ordered coldly.
“Okay, okay!”
“I’m rolling it down now!”
“Just don’t plant any bombs, alright?”
She babbled, lowering the window.
As the glass descended, their eyes met, and a flicker of excitement appeared in both their gazes.
“Mr. Killer, I’m just a weak little woman. Please don’t kill me~”
She feigned helplessness.
“Of course, of course~”
“As long as you behave, I won’t kill you.”
The killer chuckled.
“Mm~”
“I believe you, Mr. Killer~”
Just as the window reached the perfect level for eye contact, Fang Xiaocao’s tone suddenly changed.
With a silky, seductive voice, she murmured sweetly—
And that was when the real game began.
