Chapter 29: True and False
Wang Xuming walked to the sofa and sat down.
“We should be able to talk now.”
Bai Cha frowned and walked over to him, her gaze still warily scanning the surroundings.
“So what’s the situation now?”
Wang Xuming glanced at her and said, “Theoretically, you can see the fourth floor from any room you come out of.”
“As for the others… the rooms themselves are special. After entering, you’ll be randomly assigned to different spaces. Of course, it’s not impossible to exert influence. For example, I have an item that can lock onto you and find you.”
This was explaining Bai Cha’s previous question. But Bai Cha felt that there were still some inconsistencies.
However, she didn’t dwell on it too much. Many things only needed to look plausible on the surface.
“As long as they don’t rashly make phone calls or touch the idol on the table, they probably won’t have any problems and can just come out. But whether they choose to go upstairs or downstairs after coming out, that’s up to them.”
Bai Cha glanced in the direction of the main door.
Outside, she could faintly hear a very noisy sound, just like what she heard when she went out today.
Bai Cha asked, “So what’s the situation on this floor?”
“Just the surface world and the inner world. One is real, and one is fake.”
As Wang Xuming spoke, he spread his hands.
“That’s all I can tell you. Guess the rest yourself.”
Bai Cha looked at him and didn’t doubt his words.
Now that he had said this much, there shouldn’t be any need to hide anything anymore, at most just saying some misleading things or concealing key information.
But what he said was still vague, probably due to limitations, just like she had thought.
Real and fake worlds.
If the world they were currently in was the real one, meaning the world where their bodies were was real, then the real world had a fourth floor.
No, it might not even be the fourth floor. If the fourth floor was the first floor, the real first floor, then real and fake were like a Möbius strip.
The two were interconnected.
If going out of a room could lead to another world, then when they left their bodies and went out in an unknown state, they might have entered another world.
But if there were still two forms, body and consciousness, and the world where consciousness existed, let’s tentatively call it the fake world, then in that state, was everything around them illusory?
But death was clearly real death.
And then there were the factions.
In this case, the role of factions didn’t seem that significant.
No, not necessarily.
She still didn’t know what the board game was about. But if there were factions, there would definitely be confrontation. With factions and confrontation, players would die.
So… when the number of dead players reached a certain point, maybe this game couldn’t be cleared?
Bai Cha put the few clues she had together and found that there was still a key clue missing, a clue that could connect everything.
She simply stopped thinking too much and quickly shifted her focus, looking at Wang Xuming.
“So what do we do next?”
If this game required a certain number of survivors to clear, then she wasn’t worried that Wang Xuming would do anything to her in this game.
So, she very naturally changed her attitude to listening to him, although her inner thoughts might not be the same.
But she had a very clear understanding of her own strength, and assessing the situation was the best way to survive.
Wang Xuming smiled.
He pointed to the board game.
“Of course, we have to wait until the game starts. We haven’t seen that separate bathroom yet.”
Indeed, so far, several of the strange tales in the rules had appeared, but the separate bathroom was the only one missing.
“Do we have to wait until they start playing over there too?” Bai Cha sat down beside him and looked at the board game on the table.
If the two worlds were interconnected, then if their board game was laid out, the opposite side should be the same.
Wang Xuming indeed did so, setting up the board game.
“Yes, wait. Hopefully, a third person will come up.”
Wang Xuming sighed. Otherwise, if all three people in the other world died, it would be really troublesome.
Bai Cha nodded and said nothing more.
The air was quiet for a long time. Bai Cha suddenly asked, “So did Brother Cai actually go to 305?”
Wang Xuming looked at her with a smile that wasn’t quite a smile.
“Is there even a need to ask that?”
Of course not.
He just wanted to get everyone into the new space and see the other world.
“What about that statue?” Bai Cha pointed to the small statue on the table.
“That should be the token he obtained.” Wang Xuming scoffed. “Didn’t you see how confident he was? He probably thought that getting the token would allow him to do whatever he wanted in this game.”
“Oh right, you’re a newbie, you don’t know what this means.”
Wang Xuming explained, “Some instances leave behind tokens in other instances. Because some instances might have a slight connection, this might provide an advantage when entering that instance.”
Bai Cha finally understood.
She thought so.
So, everyone has to be careful even after surviving those seven days… because there’s still a chance of reinfection.
