Chapter 83: Ability Demonstration, Laboratory!
Aizemark revealed his unique innate ability for the first time—facial transformation.
Everyone, still immersed in shock, quickly snapped out of it. Andy, filled with curiosity, asked,
“So your ability is to change your appearance? And you can do it so realistically? You look exactly like Kokoro now. With this, we finally have a shot at sneaking into Fei Wenli’s residence.”
As he spoke, Andy looked to the others, curious about their abilities too.
Suddenly, Wang Chao extended his right hand. A fresh, blood-red tomato appeared in his palm out of thin air. Then, something jaw-dropping happened—the tomato began to melt, heat up, and eventually turned into a pool of boiling lava. Yet Wang Chao remained completely unaffected, his expression unchanged.
Seeing this, Zhang Tao couldn’t help but exclaim, “Amazing!”
His eyes sparkled with excitement.
Next, Zhang Tao and Li Quan showed off their own abilities—“Whispers” and “Soft and Fluffy.”
After the demonstrations, Wang Chao turned his gaze to Andy and Ma Dong. He didn’t believe for a second that they were just ordinary characters. After all, anyone participating in this kind of operation couldn’t possibly be average.
Especially Ma Dong—his presence gave Wang Chao an unprecedented sense of danger.
As everyone displayed their powers, Ma Dong didn’t hesitate at all. He stood up and, under their stunned gazes, slowly merged into the shadow beneath his feet.
Shadow Slip? Wang Chao instantly thought.
Andy’s ability, by contrast, was easier to grasp—Hyper Intuition, an enhanced sixth sense.
“Alright, since we’ve finalized the plan, let’s get moving,” Andy said confidently.
“Oh, one more thing. The energy crystals are likely stored in the lab beneath Fei Wenli’s residence. These precious resources, once unearthed, are used by her to perform unspeakable experiments.”
As Andy mentioned the experiments, her teeth clenched, and anger flared in her eyes.
Ma Dong noticed her mood change and gently patted her shoulder, “Don’t worry, Andy. We’ll succeed.”
Andy nodded, “I know. And this time, I’ll also avenge Natasha.”
Wang Chao couldn’t shake the feeling that this mission was completely different from all previous ones—but he couldn’t pinpoint why.
“I still prefer the kill-or-be-killed kind of dungeon, like Zombie Hell,” he thought to himself.
“Schemes and plots just aren’t for me.”
He didn’t fully trust this group. After all, he had only just entered this instance, knew nothing about the situation, and had never personally experienced oppression or resistance.
So he had no emotional investment in their cause—his only goal was to acquire the energy crystals.
And now he was forced to cooperate with other players.
In previous dungeons, fights between players weren’t rare—especially when it became known that the energy crystals were of immense value. Wang Chao knew very well: once someone got their hands on the crystals, alliances would fall apart instantly.
Everyone needed three crystals to return to the real world. If they failed to gather enough, they’d be stuck mining for the next four years—a future Wang Chao absolutely wouldn’t accept.
He had a family to care for. Wasting four years here? Not an option.
Meanwhile, Su Ning, having learned from the files that Fei Wenli had a deep love for sweets, used the fully equipped kitchen to make a special dessert just for her.
After tasting it, Fei Wenli couldn’t help but praise, “Mmm, not bad. Very different from any dessert I’ve ever had. How did you make this?” She licked her lips, clearly delighted.
Su Ning smiled and replied, “That’s my secret recipe! If I told you, you wouldn’t need me anymore—then who would I cry to?” she said half-jokingly.
The reason it tasted so unique? Her exclusive secret ingredient—Emerald Honey.
Fei Wenli raised her eyebrows slightly, showing her appreciation.
Seeing Fei Wenli satisfied, Dex finally let out a breath of relief.
“Miss, am I safe now?”
Fei Wenli glanced at him with annoyance, “You’re such an eyesore. Go check on the lab. And get her a new identity and outfit—‘Miner 1008’ sounds too dirty. My staff must be eye candy, got it?”
“Yes, ma’am!”
Dex quickly led Su Ning away.
Once outside, Dex finally felt alive again. He looked at Su Ning’s calm face in awe, “You’ve got guts, I’ll give you that. You even dared to joke with Miss Fei Wenli. I thought my heart was going to explode!”
Su Ning smiled awkwardly.
Dex kept complaining, “My life is tied to yours, and you scared me half to death!”
He was like an annoying toad croaking beside her. Su Ning was tempted to use her power to poison him into silence.
But when Dex brought her into a basement, Su Ning instantly sensed something off.
“You’re no longer Miner 1008. From now on, you’re…” Dex paused.
“What’s your name?”
“Su Ning.”
“From now on, you’re Colonial Company Employee Su Ning!”
Dex led her into the underground lab. As they descended deeper, Su Ning’s heartbeat quickened. When she saw what lay ahead, her scalp went numb, and goosebumps covered her body.
Compared to facing Fei Wenli’s Venomous Python, this scene was far more horrifying.
Su Ning’s eyes widened. In front of her were countless bio-engineered humans, all busy with various experiments. And their research subjects? Living humans.
These people were strapped to beds, pain etched into their faces as their lives were cruelly violated.
Su Ning couldn’t believe her eyes—shock consumed her.
Dex turned back with a proud grin, spreading his arms as if welcoming her, “Su Ning, welcome to our company family! Don’t be scared, these experiments are totally normal around here.”
Su Ning clenched her fists, suppressing her fury, and calmly asked, “What is this place?”
Dex, completely unfazed by the dismembered bodies around him, casually replied, “This? Oh, it’s Fei Wenli’s experiment factory—or you could call it her beauty lab.”
Then he led Su Ning to a place that looked like a collection room.
Upon seeing its layout, Su Ning felt even colder.
Dex leaned in and whispered in her ear, “Our lady is obsessed with beauty. She’ll do whatever it takes to get it.”
