Chapter 127: Super Luck, Discovery
Su Ning found everything happening before her to be rather baffling.
“Is there really such a terrifying talent?”
The effect of [Super Luck] was beyond just “turning misfortune into fortune.”
It was more like: “Mess with me, and you’ve basically kicked a steel plate.”
A full-service death package, like a real-life Final Destination.
Su Ning clearly saw that the zombies who had fallen had smashed their heads directly onto sharp rocks, having their brains pierced right through.
She shut her eyes, unable to even imagine it.
“Good heavens… this is truly a concept-level ability.”
Su Ning was deeply amazed. A dark thought even crossed her mind—what if she could make this ability her own?
But then she reconsidered.
This player named Li Ming had the Super Luck talent—if she tried to harm him, wouldn’t she likely face disastrous consequences too?
The zombies’ fate was a good enough warning.
After thinking it over, Su Ning decided to drop the idea.
Meanwhile, Li Ming used the zombies’ fall as a chance to make his escape.
He quickly ran toward the recycling station where Su Ning was hiding.
Seeing this, Su Ning immediately activated her [Disguise] skill. The Ghost Pearl’s “Ghost Veil” effect altered her personal data signature.
Su Ning “disappeared,” and Su Kexin appeared.
Of course, this transformation didn’t just change her face—it also adjusted the bewitching aura she gave off after awakening the Medusa bloodline.
This was the one downside of her Petrifying Medusa Lineage Awakening—the enchanting aura she passively emitted.
Soon, Li Ming reached the gate of the scrapyard.
“Finally escaped that zombie horde!” Li Ming exhaled in relief.
Though he had the [Bubble Spit] and [Super Luck] talents, no one could have expected that the rain would render his bubble-based abilities useless.
And while his Super Luck was powerful, Li Ming didn’t want to rely on it unless he absolutely had to.
After all, luck wasn’t infinite. Constant luck was its own kind of disaster.
The [Super Luck] talent would indeed let him avoid danger, but once used, he would enter a period of [Unluckiness]—a state of extreme bad luck.
During that time, even drinking water could choke him to death.
That was the negative side effect of overusing [Super Luck].
“Now I just need to find a safe place to stay put… wait out the unlucky period… and then finish this dungeon task.”
Though only 13 years old, Li Ming—an avid gamer—was more comfortable in survival games than even his own parents.
“Let’s just hope this ‘unlucky’ debuff doesn’t cause me to run into something truly terrifying…”
But before he could meet a great terror, he met Su Ning—which might qualify.
The moment Li Ming laid eyes on Su Ning, his right eyelid started twitching like mad.
It was as if his eyelid had turned into a mini-rave on his face.
His survival instincts screamed:
“This person is definitely not a good guy.”
Li Ming wanted to turn and run, but behind him, the zombie swarm was catching up.
He sighed in resignation.
“Yup… using [Super Luck] recklessly always backfires. Now what? Let’s hope she doesn’t attack me.”
With a friendly smile, Li Ming greeted her:
“Big sis, hi! Are you here alone? Mind if I stay here and wait out the rain?”
He immediately switched to cute mode, using his little-boy face to play the pity card.
It was a tactic he was quite skilled at—many older girls softened up under his act.
Li Ming had clearly noticed the zombie corpses around the area, which told him this woman was extremely dangerous.
Right now, his only chance of survival was to act non-threatening and reduce any potential hostility.
Su Ning, of course, had no intention of attacking him.
Instead, she suddenly had an idea.
If Li Ming had such a Super Luck talent, and now that they were in the dungeon…
Wouldn’t keeping him around increase the chances of running into treasure chests?
She felt it was worth a try.
Su Ning smiled and said, “Poor thing. I just got here too. Of course you can stay and wait out the rain.”
But far from being comforted by her smile, Li Ming felt a chill run down his spine.
“I’m Li Ming, big sis. You can call me Xiao Ming.”
“I’m Su. Just call me Sister Su,” Su Ning replied.
Li Ming relaxed a bit after seeing she wasn’t making any sudden moves.
He was also curious why she seemed so calm.
“Sister Su, aren’t you afraid of zombies?”
“Afraid of zombies?”
She glanced at the weirdly shambling zombies in the distance.
Thanks to spending so much time with Unit 1 and the others, she had developed a kind of zombie filter.
As long as they didn’t eat in front of her, she actually found them kinda cute.
“Not really,” Su Ning said. “Zombies aren’t that scary. Once you know their weak spots, they’re easy to kill.”
She then pulled out a bow she hadn’t used in a long time, drew an arrow, and fired it smoothly in one motion.
The arrow flew in a beautiful arc—and hit a zombie square in the head.
One shot. Instant kill.
Li Ming: “…”
“Wow… you’re amazing. Say, Sister Su, do you think you could complete the task to kill 100,000 zombies and unlock the Planting Space?”
Hearing that, Su Ning realized his quest was exactly like the one she had done in the “Hell of the Dead.”
She smiled but said nothing.
Li Ming didn’t press it. Honestly, just surviving was good enough for him.
Being only 13, Li Ming couldn’t sit still and soon began exploring the scrapyard.
Su Ning didn’t stop him—after all, she had already had Unit 1 inspect the place.
There wasn’t supposed to be anything noteworthy here…
Before she could finish that thought—Li Ming let out a sudden yelp.
“Ahhh!”
He had fallen into a deep pit.
Su Ning blinked.
“When did a pit appear here?”
Li Ming, rubbing his butt at the bottom of the hole, groaned:
“So unlucky…”
But when he looked around, he realized this wasn’t just a pit—it was a hidden chamber.
Su Ning jumped down and saw that the space looked like a basement storage area.
“How did I never notice this before?”
She turned her gaze to Li Ming.
“Is this… really how powerful Super Luck is?”
“Sister Su, look! Supplies!” Li Ming called out excitedly.
He wandered deeper into the basement and found boxes and barrels.
“Is this… wine?”
Su Ning hadn’t expected this. There was actually a wine cellar here.
But just as Su Ning and Li Ming were checking it out…
Outside, something changed.
Countless tiny rats began scurrying in the distance.
Strangely, the zombies showed no interest in them.
Perhaps it was because the rats had no flesh, or maybe they simply didn’t notice.
The rats easily passed through the zombie horde and climbed up nearby trees.
Then, something grotesque happened.
The rats gathered together and began to merge into a human shape.
A thin man emerged, cracking his neck with a loud snap, and looked off into the distance.
“Tch. This world isn’t too friendly to rats… Even the zombies are toxic.”
The man, Jin Yuan, casually picked his nose, then tossed a small snack into his mouth.
“Squeak squeak!”
A gray rat climbed up to his ear and whispered something in squeaks.
His eyes lit up.
“Oh? We’ve got something…”
