Shopping Spree

Chapter 2: Shopping Spree

Over the past two years, Sheng Wanyan had poured an enormous amount of money into her secret project, purchasing every type of seed available on the market. She had also excavated a large fish pond within the space, stocking it with various species of edible fish. After two years of breeding, the pond was teeming with life and had been expanded several times over.

Sheng Wanyan walked toward a bamboo house, a structure she had manifested with a single thought. Since the space lacked natural mountains, she had planted a sprawling bamboo forest to provide the materials. A clear stream bubbled in front of the house, and near its source, the words “Spirit Spring” were engraved into a stone. Having been an avid reader of webnovels in her youth, she knew exactly what that implied.

She had been drinking the spring water regularly for the past two years. She noticed that whenever she was injured, her wounds healed twice as fast as usual. Even her body, which was often worn out from long nights at the office, felt lighter and more energized. It was clear the water possessed extraordinary health benefits. She didn’t know where the spring or the wasteland had come from, but since the space was hers, she intended to make the most of it.

Behind the bamboo house stood a massive warehouse she had built. It was already packed with the fruits, vegetables, processed meats, and medicinal herbs she had harvested over the last two years. The space functioned like a giant refrigerator, preserving everything in a state of perfect freshness while automatically breaking down any waste. Time also flowed differently here; one month in the outside world was equivalent to a full year inside the space.

The harvests had been so lucrative that she knew she would never starve, even if she lost her entire fortune. This place was a literal paradise. If it weren’t for her responsibilities to the Sheng family, she might have retired and spent the rest of her days “lying flat” here. But she couldn’t simply abandon the Sheng Group; it represented the life’s work of her ancestors.

“Exit,” Sheng Wanyan whispered.

Instantly back in the real world, she headed to the Sheng family’s underground vault and swept the entire collection of heirlooms and treasures into her space. Next, she went to her dressing room, collecting every piece of jewelry, her designer wardrobe, skincare products, and even the furniture. Tables, sofas, and decor—everything she could see in the villa vanished into her storage, leaving only the bare essentials in the first-floor living and dining areas.

Just as she finished clearing out the upper floors, her secretary arrived at the mansion with a thick folder.

“President Sheng, your shares, real estate, and all investment portfolios have been liquidated,” he reported. “A total of 200 billion yuan has been secured and is being transferred to your account as we speak.”

Sheng Wanyan nodded, looking around the cavernous, empty halls of the ancestral home. She made a final decision. “Sell this house, too. And I want every asset currently held by that family to be repossessed and sold off immediately.”

The secretary knew exactly who she meant—the branch of the family led by her eldest uncle. Though she had already put most of the men in that family behind bars, the younger generation and the wives still held a significant amount of Sheng family property. It was clear that President Sheng intended to leave them with absolutely nothing this time.

“Understood,” the secretary replied.

“This is 20 million yuan for your loyalty over the years,” she said, handing him a check. “Once the house is sold, you’re free to go.”

The secretary bowed. He knew that without Sheng Wanyan, the Sheng Group was a hollow shell. There was no reason for him to stay, and with his resume, he would have no trouble finding a new position elsewhere.

Once the secretary left, Sheng Wanyan finished her sweep, taking every last item from the first floor. She didn’t stop there—she emptied the utility rooms, the tool sheds, and the garage. Whether she thought she’d need a car or a wrench, she took it all. Preparation was key.

She called the high-end skincare brand she frequented and placed a staggering order: one million sets of skincare and cosmetics, to be delivered to the villa immediately. As a top-tier VIP, her request was prioritized, and the shipment arrived that evening. While waiting, she spent the day mapping out a massive shopping itinerary. She couldn’t make bulk purchases in the heart of the capital without drawing suspicion, so she turned her sights toward the rural suburbs and local farmers.

After moving the mountain of skincare products into her space, she confirmed the sale of the mansion. The funds would arrive in two days. She did one last walkthrough of the house to ensure nothing was left behind, then drove out of the capital toward the countryside. When exhaustion hit, she simply rested inside her space before continuing her journey.

By 6:00 a.m., she reached the outskirts and rented a sprawling warehouse. From there, she moved through the local villages, buying up everything the farmers could provide: wheat, seeds, and livestock. She contracted several villages to deliver their entire stock to her warehouse, spending five million yuan in a single morning.

Next, she tracked down the manager of a large suburban supermarket. “I want to buy out your entire inventory.”

The manager was stunned. “The whole thing? That’s… a lot of supplies.”

“I’m with the procurement department at the Sheng Group,” she lied smoothly. “We’re distributing bonuses and prize packs to all our employees.”

Hearing the name of the prestigious Sheng Group, the manager’s suspicion vanished instantly. He worked with frantic efficiency to have the goods moved to her warehouse.

“This is still far from enough,” Sheng Wanyan remarked, playing the part. “The group has tens of thousands of employees…”

The manager’s eyes lit up with dollar signs. “We have a massive shipment coming in tonight! If you want it, it’s yours.”

“Thank you, that would solve a huge headache for me,” she replied with a relieved smile.

As soon as the staff left the warehouse, Sheng Wanyan vanished the supplies into her space. When the new shipment arrived that night, she repeated the process. “That’s 50 million yuan in total,” she said, settling the bill instantly.

She left the suburbs under the cover of night and headed straight for the airport, booking the first flight to Tibet. She needed to source high-quality cattle and sheep for her farm. With so much money in her account, she wasn’t about to leave a single cent for the “vampires” in her extended family to inherit.

In Tibet, she purchased tens of thousands of head of livestock. Her next stop was the garment manufacturing hubs in smaller surrounding cities. Based on her dreams, the era she was heading toward favored dark-colored, sturdy fabrics and simple cloth shoes. She placed massive orders across multiple factories for thousands of sets of durable clothing and hundreds of thousands of bolts of cloth in every available color.

She then moved on to agriculture, buying out several warehouses worth of various crop seeds. In any era, food was the ultimate currency. Finally, she drove to the coast, stockpiling tons of fresh seafood into the preservation hold of her space.

A few days later, her secretary confirmed that the final liquidations were complete. Her relatives, now homeless and penniless, were frantically searching for her across the capital. But Sheng Wanyan was already long gone, boarding an international flight to begin her shopping spree at the great industrial farms abroad.
