Doomsday: Scavenging in a Survival Game – CH162

Surgery? Identification Talent

Chapter 162: Surgery? Identification Talent

Rescue personnel from the other three shelters began providing medical treatment and inspections for Shelter No. 6.

Thanks to Mu Feiyu’s arrival and his [Identification] talent, several parasitized individuals among the crowd were quickly identified.

When those people heard that monsters were living inside them, and thought of the horrifying fates of others whose bodies had burst open, panic immediately erupted.

“Sir, please save me! I don’t want to die!”

Mu Feiyu’s eyes darkened.

Especially after seeing the data displayed under his Identification skill:

[Player: Zhang Shan]
Talent: Worker Ant – Can do any kind of work without feeling tired. Bosses love him.
Skills: None
Status: Parasitized
Note: The parasite inside will fully mature in one week.

A golden light flickered in Mu Feiyu’s eyes—the visual effect of his Identification talent—but there wasn’t the slightest hint of joy on his face for finding the infected.

Though he could locate parasitized players and residents through his talent, the problem now was: How to save them?

If these internal parasites weren’t removed, these people only had one week left to live.

Mu Feiyu gathered the three team leaders and reported what he’d found.

Liu Jianjun was initially pleased to hear the parasitized individuals had been found. As long as those infected were isolated, the shelter could still be saved.

But when the conversation turned to how to treat them, Liu Jianjun fell silent.

A dark thought crossed his mind—should he sacrifice the infected to protect the rest of the shelter?

Perhaps sensing this, Mu Feiyu added firmly:

“There’s still one week. We still have time to figure out a solution. And more importantly, if we don’t deal with the source of these parasites, more people will continue to get infected.”

That hit the core of the issue.

Liu Jianjun gave a bitter laugh:

“If I could’ve found the mastermind, things wouldn’t have gotten this bad. That person is cunning and ruthless—he even kidnapped people to create monsters. If no one had warned me, Shelter No. 6 would’ve faced an even greater disaster.”

Mu Feiyu’s interest was piqued.

“Someone warned you? Who? Can I meet them?”

Liu Jianjun’s face stiffened momentarily but quickly recovered.

He sent someone to bring over Jiang Nana and Kou Dingshan.

When the two arrived, they were asked to recount how they had discovered the parasitic monsters.

Jiang Nana and Kou Dingshan exchanged glances.

Kou Dingshan, being more composed, stepped forward to explain.

He looked toward the three team leaders:

Tang Yuanbin (Shelter No. 3)

Mu Feiyu (Shelter No. 5)

Zhang Fenghua (Shelter No. 2)

Zhang Fenghua had recently become the commander of Shelter No. 2’s rescue squad, due to the collapse of the Xi family and the death of Fu Qingge.

Kou Dingshan explained:

“Actually, it wasn’t just us two who discovered the monsters. There were two others involved. But right now, both of them are no longer in the shelter.”

Mu Feiyu raised an eyebrow.

“Oh? There are others?”

Kou Dingshan nodded.

“One is Zhongsun Junhao from Shelter No. 1. The other is…”

He paused and looked toward Zhang Fenghua—clearly aware that the person he was about to name was from Shelter No. 2.

Zhang Fenghua looked confused.

“What’s the matter?”

Kou Dingshan gritted his teeth and finally said it:

“The other person is Su Ning!”

“Su Ning?” Tang Yuanbin was surprised.

Zhang Fenghua now understood why Kou Dingshan had looked at him earlier.
He, too, had heard of Su Ning. In fact, the name was infamous in Shelter No. 2.

Previously, Shelter No. 2’s administrators had even issued a wanted order for Su Ning.

Although Xi Yongfeng was now dead, the wanted notice still hadn’t been revoked due to the survival of the Fu family patriarch.

At that moment, Jiang Nana also spoke up:

“Actually… Su Ning was the main person who discovered the parasitic threat.”

Hearing her name again, Liu Jianjun’s expression twisted with emotion.

He suddenly felt the overwhelming urge to slap himself for issuing that expulsion order against her.

How could he have cast aside such a remarkable, capable player?

Everyone fell silent.

The situation had reached a difficult crossroads.

For now, no one knew what to do next.

But Mu Feiyu remained calm. As long as he was here and could check every individual, if the mastermind was still within the shelter, he would find them.

Right now, though, the biggest challenge was how to save the parasitized individuals.

Zhang Fenghua spoke up:

“I wonder… could we perform surgery to remove the parasites from their bodies?”

He voiced the question everyone had been afraid to ask.

Mu Feiyu responded:

“Coincidentally, we have two team members skilled in healing and surgery. It’s worth a try, but we need more people with healing talents to help increase the odds of success.”

Tang Yuanbin scratched his head.

“I’m not much help with medicine. I’ll focus on protecting the residents and fighting if needed. I’ll stay out of the way for treatment, but if danger arises, I’ll be on the front lines.”

Mu Feiyu nodded.

“I’ll handle tracking the mastermind. If I discover anything suspicious, I’ll contact you immediately, Captain Tang. I hope you can subdue the target quickly.”

Zhang Fenghua added:

“Then leave the medical and surgical efforts to me.”

With that, everyone took up their responsibilities and quickly got to work.

Meanwhile, Su Ning, out of curiosity about the situation at Shelter No. 6, had used her Disguise skill to sneak into the area.

She didn’t disguise herself as Su Kexin this time, but as a random, ordinary person.

Upon seeing the incoming rescue teams from other shelters, she activated both Disguise and Stealth, allowing her to blend in seamlessly—no one noticed her.

Su Ning hid among the residents being helped and carefully observed her surroundings.

She saw the team leaders.

Tang Yuanbin she already knew.

But the other two were unfamiliar.

Using Scavenger’s Eye, she examined one of them:

[Player: Mu Feiyu]
Talent: Identification – Can analyze the data of items and people.
Skills:
Close Combat – Engages enemies at close range with terrifying strength.
Armament Power – Gains powerful effects from equipped gear.
Far Sight – Can see long distances clearly.

Su Ning was momentarily stunned.

This was her first time seeing another player with a talent similar to her own Scavenger’s Eye.

And judging from his ability, his talent might even be superior. Her skill was merely a sub-skill of scavenging, while his entire talent was focused on pure identification.

“Could he see through my disguise?” Su Ning felt a bit nervous.

Then she remembered what happened to Pei Xuan’an—he tried to detect her and ended up cursed with Super Bad Luck.

“His Identification must have some limits, too.”

“Let’s hope he doesn’t notice me too soon…”

But Su Ning wasn’t here just out of curiosity about Shelter No. 6.

She had come for a specific reason—to obtain someone’s ability.

She wanted the talent of Yan Liuxing: [Parasitic Modification].

Just then, she heard someone call out:

“Anyone with healing talents, please come forward! A major surgery is about to begin and we need players with healing or bandaging abilities. Successful participants will be rewarded with generous supplies of food and materials!”
