Chapter 135: Space Division, Homeland Construction
The planting space had not only expanded two or three times compared to before, but also suddenly gained a small pond—something Su Ning hadn’t expected at all.
Water is the source of life. Although Su Ning had smuggled a large amount of water resources from the Cosmic Minefield instance, she was still short on water.
“Now this is great. With this little pond, I’ll never have to worry about water for daily life again!”
Su Ning happily scooped some water into a cup and drank it. “Mmm, so sweet.” Maybe it was just psychological, but she felt the water tasted especially sweet and fresh.
After checking out the newly appeared pond following the upgrade of the planting space, Su Ning continued to examine the area to see if anything else had changed.
While she didn’t find any other surprises like the pond, she did notice changes in the giant tree she had planted in the farm before.
Before the upgrade, the massive branches of the tree took up the entire upper part of the space. Now, after the upgrade, the tree seemed to have evolved as well.
Its size had grown again, and since the space itself had expanded three or four times, the tree had grown proportionally larger as well.
Its branches still acted like a giant umbrella, covering the whole planting space.
“The color has gotten darker. Now I really could live in this tree.”
Previously, Su Ning had built a small treehouse to maximize space usage, but now she could make it larger and much more comfortable.
“Plus, now there’s room to grow other things.”
Su Ning planned to reorganize the space.
She came up with some new ideas: to create one field for regular vegetables and grains, and another specially for spirit plants obtained from various instances.
The farm animals needed separation too, due to their biodiversity. For example, the Meaty Chickens and Threading Spiders were obviously different kinds of monsters—putting them together would surely cause conflict.
The Meaty Chicken even saw Death Worms as food. If it treated the Threading Spiders as snacks, that would be a major loss.
Su Ning was especially worried the chickens would eat the spiders.
“With more space, I can grow and raise even more things!”
As she spoke, Su Ning planted the Purple Blood Grape Seeds she got from Fu Qingge and the Green Apple Tree Seeds she found in a treasure chest.
“Now I’ve got grapes and apples. Wonder what other spirit fruits I’ll come across.”
After finishing that, she also carefully placed the Spectral White Tiger monster egg.
“Come on, little one, hatch soon!”
Of course, Su Ning didn’t forget to build a living space for No. 1 and the others.
Now that the space had expanded, how could she not have a place of her own?
Thanks to her efforts, the entire space was now organized and orderly.
During this time, she went back to her real-world home and looked outside—the heavy snow was still falling. The dangers brought by the extreme cold continued to destroy human shelters.
On the communication channel, people were still calling for help. They hadn’t made it into shelters and hoped the government would come save them.
While Su Ning was drinking soup made by No. 4—
Unknown Space-Time
“What? The A and Z recovery mission failed? Both were eliminated?”
“Yes, sir. The life detectors no longer pick up any signals from them. They’ve been confirmed dead.”
“Two of our admins got taken out by hosts of Super Misfortune and Super Luck before they even matured? Are A and Z trash or what?”
“A definite bad piece of news. Any good news? What about the other recovery tasks?”
“Reporting, sir. In World 1488, the Destroyer ability has been successfully recovered. However, Administrator X has bad news: someone with the Reincarnator ability has appeared, but escaped into another world!”
“No, that kind of ability that breaks all rules must be recovered immediately. It must not be allowed to remain!”
“Yes, sir!”
“Anything else to report?”
“We’ve located the position of the Prophet ability but haven’t had the chance to retrieve it yet.”
“Commander, the Endless Sea instance has a high chance of collapsing. Should we repair or destroy it?”
“Let it open one more time. Then destroy it! And wasn’t the Prophet ability still not recovered? Perfect—make players from that world open the Endless Sea and recover it while we’re at it.”
“Yes!”
The voices faded, leaving behind only a helpless sigh.
But none of this had anything to do with Su Ning.
Right now, she was learning how to weave from No. 5 using spider silk produced by the Threading Spiders.
“A girl like me actually losing in craftsmanship to a guy?!”
She looked at the odd, lopsided mess she had made and compared it to No. 5’s beautiful and perfect product—completely embarrassing.
The spider silk from the Threading Spiders was soft and sturdy—perfect for making clothes.
Su Ning was trying to weave a white scarf, but the color felt a bit creepy. Halfway through, she gave up. Her speed, completion, and aesthetics were all far inferior to No. 5’s.
“Okay, I should stop comparing my weaknesses to other people’s strengths.”
Putting down the thread, Su Ning entered the Corpse Hell instance.
There, No. 1 and several zombies were busy planting Mist Flowers around the villa area they had chosen.
Mist Flowers could produce dense fog. Su Ning intended to use it as camouflage for her future base.
Just one Mist Flower could generate vision-blocking fog in a 100-meter radius.
She had collected 300 Mist Flowers in the City of Mist, and now planted about 200 of them in the forest. The whole area was soon engulfed in fog. She saved the remaining 100 to cultivate more later.
She also had No. 6 command zombie mice to patrol the forest for security.
Just like that, Su Ning’s mini base now had basic defenses.
Just when she thought these leisurely days would continue—
A message completely shocked Su Ning.
The communication channel reported that the leader of the Second Shelter—the head of the Xi family—as well as Fu Qingge and his mother had all died unexpectedly.
“Died… accidentally?”
Reading the shocking news, Su Ning couldn’t help but think of the Super Misfortune ability she had just acquired.
“Could it be that… those who harbor hostility or killing intent toward me will suffer misfortune?”
“That’s way too scary…”
Still, Su Ning was quite pleased. Solving enemies without lifting a finger? If that’s how it works, she wanted all her future enemies to suffer that kind of bad luck.
With this ability, who would dare mess with her now?
However, she hadn’t forgotten that this ability could also bring bad luck to herself.
Su Ning had been staying home recently and hadn’t run into any bad luck… or so she thought—until she popped a snack into her mouth.
And bit her own tongue.
“Hsss! That hurts!”
Yup. Some things are better left unsaid.
Back in the Corpse Hell instance, the base was steadily being built. Su Ning continued checking in from time to time.
But she spent most of her time living in her original house in the real world.
Finally—one day, the snow stopped falling.
