Found a Living Person

Chapter 6: Found a Living Person

The smile on the long-faced sales associate’s face froze.

A moment later, she widened her eyes and questioned, “You’re messing with me on purpose?”

Xu Youyou stood up. “What? Can’t take a joke?”

The long-faced sales associate thought about how she had been busy for nearly an hour, and anger surged inside her. She took two steps forward, almost ready to lash out, but another associate quickly held her back.

“Calm down, do you want to lose your job?” her colleague warned.

The long-faced sales associate panted heavily, trying to control her frustration.

After completing her refund, Xu Youyou left the LV store under the watchful eyes of the other sales associates and walked into the Dior store across the hall.

In her previous life, Xu Youyou had heard that some luxury sales associates deliberately acted dismissively to provoke customers into spending more. But she wasn’t a glutton for punishment—there was no way she’d spend money at a store that looked down on her.

The Dior sales associate was much more polite. Xu Youyou genuinely wanted to shop, and now that money wasn’t an issue, she had no reason to hold back. If she liked something, she bought it without hesitation.

“This one, this one… and not these. Pack up everything else,” Xu Youyou said, finally getting to experience the joy of a shopping spree like in the movies.

She bought so much that after paying, she just left her address for delivery and strolled out of the store.

The long-faced LV associate had been watching closely. When she saw Xu Youyou leaving Dior empty-handed, she couldn’t resist going over to ask, “Did that girl, Xu, not buy anything at your store either?”

The Dior sales associate quickly replied, “She practically bought out the entire store. Who would have thought someone dressed in bargain-bin clothes could spend over a million in one go?”

The long-faced associate felt like her freshly done nose job was about to go crooked from sheer frustration. She was convinced Xu Youyou had been targeting her on purpose.

But things only got worse for her. The store manager soon approached with a frown.

“That customer was originally in our store—were you the one serving her?”

The long-faced associate hesitated and said, “Manager, there are plenty of wealthy clients in this mall every day. We don’t need her…”

The manager’s voice suddenly sharpened. “Do you realize she almost bought out the entire floor? She spent over 10 million! Every other store on this level made a fortune—except us! This is all thanks to you!”

LV associates face a monthly sales target of three million. Xu Youyou’s initial purchase would have allowed the long-faced associate to meet her entire quota in one go—but she returned everything. Now, the associate bit her lip in regret, completely enveloped in frustration.

Xu Youyou didn’t care about the drama behind her. She wandered through the mall aimlessly.

Following the system’s guidance, Xu Youyou entered an Hermès store. She found it hard to believe there could be any hidden treasures in a store where even a feather duster cost three thousand yuan.

“You—kneel down and put these shoes on for me.”

As soon as she stepped in, she heard a familiar voice. She looked over and was surprised to see someone from her past life—Shen Yiren.

Xu Youyou remembered Shen Yiren well. She had been a loyal follower of Gu Xueying, always sticking by her side. Whenever Gu Xueying wanted something done, Shen Yiren would carry it out without hesitation.

In her previous life, Shen Yiren eventually married one of Gu Xueying’s admirers and became a wealthy socialite.

“Are you deaf? I said kneel down and help me with these shoes. If I don’t buy anything, how will you meet your sales target? I’m doing you a favor,” Shen Yiren said arrogantly.

The person she was bullying seemed to be a sales intern, but his face was so strikingly beautiful that Xu Youyou couldn’t help but catch her breath.

Tall and slender, with delicate, pale features, he looked like a fragile crane battered by the wind and rain. It seemed as though he might shatter if bent too far.

Xu Youyou recognized him immediately—Song Zhibai.

In her past life, he had risen to stardom like a comet but eventually took his own life due to severe mental health issues. The system’s indicator was pointing directly at him.

Shen Yiren’s torment continued. “If you don’t want to work here, I’ll report you to the manager and get you fired.”

Song Zhibai stood silently, lips pressed tightly together, his pale face filled with silent endurance.

Shen Yiren, meanwhile, seemed to relish his helplessness.

As she noticed his reddening eyes, Xu Youyou stepped in. “Can you show me this scarf?”

Startled by the clear, gentle voice, Song Zhibai looked up and met Xu Youyou’s warm gaze. For a moment, his heart trembled. Though he didn’t understand why she was helping him, he seized the opportunity and took a step toward her.

“Certainly, ma’am. Please wait a moment,” he said softly.

Shen Yiren, however, was displeased. She gave Xu Youyou a once-over, her eyes filled with disdain, and scoffed, “Since when can just anyone walk into this store?”

Zhang Hong, Song Zhibai’s supervisor, was well aware that a major client was in the mall and had already seen Xu Youyou’s photo circulating in their internal chat group. Not daring to offend her, she quickly stepped in.

“Miss Shen, if you’re trying on those shoes, I’ll personally assist you,” Zhang Hong offered.

But Shen Yiren sneered and avoided her help. “Where’s your manager? Your staff ignores customers—I’m filing a complaint.”

She turned to Xu Youyou with a provocative glare, clearly intent on making things difficult for Song Zhibai.

Song Zhibai’s face grew even paler.

Xu Youyou didn’t know the history between them, but even without the system’s task, she wouldn’t stand by and let this continue.

“I’ve heard of people fighting over handbags, but sales assistants? If you’re so good at grabbing things, why not go snatch free eggs from the elderly?” she quipped.

The comparison infuriated Shen Yiren, who prided herself on being a refined socialite. Her face turned red with rage. “You’ve got your eye on this pretty boy, haven’t you? Dressed like a bargain-bin reject—can you even afford a scarf?”

Xu Youyou, now financially secure, wasn’t fazed in the slightest. She turned to Song Zhibai and asked, “How do you handle private shopping? I don’t like sharing space with broke, loudmouth people.”
