Li Yun didn’t dwell too much on it. With time being far too tight during these twenty minutes, she rapidly recited every single line under her breath.
She couldn’t claim to have memorized everything, as she didn’t even understand what some of the terms meant.
At the very least, however, as long as they weren’t required to recite it cold on the spot, she could locate the answers quickly.
Twenty minutes passed in the blink of an eye.
The short, middle-aged man walked back in.
With a grim expression and glasses perched on his nose, he swept his eyes across the ten individuals inside the room.
“Twenty minutes have passed. Now I will question each of you.”
Everyone in the room grew nervous.
“Meng Bian, tell me: what should you do if an ink bottle was missed in a customer’s shipment?”
He pointed directly at a young man sitting not far from Li Yun.
The young man froze briefly, stammering out, “Uh… send a replacement shipment? Or apply to refund a portion of the money?”
The middle-aged man shook his head, jotting down his name in the notebook held in his hand.
“Next, Wang Chen-guang. Tell me: if a customer asks why the printer is feeding multiple sheets of paper at once, how do you answer?”
The man who was called quickly skimmed the document.
He held some memory of this question.
“Hurry up! Are you going to keep the customer waiting for you forever?”
“Some… some paper can experience static or moisture adhesion, causing sheets to stick together. You can shake and fan the paper before loading it.” Wang Chen-guang found the answer and read it aloud.
The middle-aged man shot him a glance, jotting down his name in the notebook as well.
Every single person was asked a question.
Certain questions involved daily scenarios one might ask in real life, allowing them to barely scrape together an acceptable answer, even if it didn’t align perfectly with the standard response.
Other questions, however, involved specialized knowledge regarding printer hardware and specs, making them exceptionally difficult to guess.
It was Li Yun’s turn.
“Li Yun. A customer wants to perform a standalone test print using only black ink and asks you how to do it. How do you respond?”
The people nearby who had already finished answering cast sympathetic looks toward her; once specialized knowledge was involved, one wouldn’t even know how to guess.
Li Yun quickly glanced over the document.
She remembered this question because the document’s answer was somewhat vague—likely because a link or diagram needed to be sent to the customer, which wasn’t provided in the document itself.
Within two short seconds, she locked onto the precise location in the document.
“Dear customer, seeing that the ink light is flashing, please remove the color ink cartridge and attempt a test print using only the black ink cartridge to see if paper feeds properly~”
She read the text off the screen word for word without missing a single character.
The middle-aged man wrote down her name as well.
Once the last person finished answering, the middle-aged man gave a firm nod.
“I am your boss. My surname is Li, and my name is Li Dao-peng. As newcomers, I will now assign you your upcoming tasks.”
“You will be undergoing an evaluation period. There is nothing difficult about our line of work; as long as you maintain sufficient patience toward the customers—no matter what unreasonable demands they make or what harsh words they utter—you must maintain absolute patience. Otherwise, once you receive a customer complaint, you will bear the consequences yourself!”
“Your evaluation period will last for nine days. If you fail to pass the evaluation within these nine days, you may pack up and leave on your own.”
“Alright, now follow me out. As fresh recruits who just joined today, each of you only needs to handle fifty customers. Pay close attention to your daily performance, as I will record everyone’s performance in detail, and ultimately inform you whether you pass the evaluation period!”
“I will assign a colleague to each of you. For issues you encounter for the first time, you may consult the colleague beside you. However, if you encounter the same issue a second time and still fail to resolve it, it will be logged in the record!”
Sentence after sentence poured from Li Dao-peng, a suffocating wave of pressure crashing down on them.
Before even starting work, several newcomers already felt as though they were struggling to breathe.
Arriving at the main workspace, nearly twenty-some people sat inside the room, every single one working with intense focus.
Some were typing away in online chats, others were on video calls, and some were handling phone calls.
Yet everyone’s tone sounded remarkably gentle, displaying immense patience when facing customers.
Li Dao-peng was in no rush to have them sit down, making them observe the other colleagues first instead.
“Do you see that? After-sales service requires a thorough spirit of customer service. The customer is God. No matter what unreasonable demands God makes, you must satisfy them. Otherwise, if you receive a customer complaint, you won’t want to know what the penalty is!”
Everyone nodded repeatedly.
“Additionally, our working hours are divided into four shifts: 6 AM to 6 PM, 8 AM to 8 PM, 10 AM to 10 PM, and 12 PM to 12 AM. Every one of you can select a shift schedule. In this regard, our company is very humane.”
Li Yun listened silently, failing to perceive where any “humane” consideration lay.
The salary for this line of work was undeniably decent, however.
The probation period paid 3,500 yuan, rising to 6,000 yuan upon passing probation, plus a 580 yuan meal allowance.
This was a truly exceptional job for her, as she was genuinely desperate for money.
She still had a bedridden, severely ill mother at home.
Her mother could barely manage to pull herself up, but cooking meals proved far too difficult, so Li Yun had to prepare an entire day’s worth of food every morning, storing it in the fridge or leaving it directly in the pot so her mother only needed to turn on the stove when she woke up.
She had racked up over a hundred thousand yuan in debt while getting medical treatment for her mother back then, and could no longer afford to delay; she had to step out to find a job to repay the money.
She lived quite far away, however—specifically in a county town belonging to this city—while the company was located in the city center, taking roughly two hours to commute back home.
Which was precisely why she chose this job: preparing meals every morning took an hour, and commuting to the company took two hours.
Consequently, she had no way to choose the 6 AM–6 PM or 8 AM–8 PM shifts—doing so would simply be far too grueling.
If meals were prepared a day in advance, they might spoil by the next day, and with her mother’s fragile health, she couldn’t possibly be fed food left out overnight.
Between 10 AM–10 PM and 12 PM–12 AM, she thought it over and selected the former.
She had brought this matter up during her interview as well, which had been conducted directly by the boss himself, and Li Dao-peng had stated there was no problem.
The others selected the 10 AM–10 PM shift as well.
Every one of them carried their own hardships to varying degrees, standing in desperate need of this job.
Moreover, none of them possessed high educational qualifications.
Some had merely graduated from high school, others held associate degrees, and some had attended vocational schools.
All in all, this job was truly a rare opportunity for them.
“I know all of you want to pick 10 AM–10 PM or 8 AM–8 PM, but it’s impossible for no one to work the 12 PM–12 AM shift. If we’re understaffed, shift rotations and schedule adjustments will be required. I hope you all mentally prepare yourselves for this point.”
Saying this, Li Dao-peng gestured toward their assigned seats.
The ten of them were evenly distributed among the veteran employees.
Meanwhile, the veteran employees hadn’t stopped working for a single moment from start to finish.
“Alright, now you may turn on your computers. I will teach you how to use some basic software, as well as guide you through some of our images, links, and videos.”
Several people followed his instructions.
Li Dao-peng explained everything merely once.
There was quite a lot of material, taking over half an hour to go through completely.
