Doomsday: Scavenging in a Survival Game – CH186

Leone, the Illegitimate Child of a God

Chapter 186: Leone, the Illegitimate Child of a God

Eliza completely failed to understand Su Ning’s intention.

So Su Ning had no choice but to lay all her findings on the table.

“If this person really is the enemy, you—”

“Impossible! Brother Clinton could never be the enemy—absolutely not! Don’t you dare slander him! You’re not welcome here!”  Before Su Ning could even finish, Eliza interrupted her rudely, refusing to give her any chance to explain.

Su Ning could only shake her head helplessly.

“Well, your feelings are what matter most. Whether he’s an enemy or not—what does it have to do with me?”

Eliza muttered to herself, as if trying to convince herself:

“Brother Clinton is a guardian of this town—there’s no way he’s the kind of enemy you’re talking about!”

Su Ning sighed and shook her head.

Ah, people in love… Their judgment is always clouded by something.

Thanks to her Scavenger’s Eye, Su Ning could clearly see that this so-called Clinton was a follower of the God of Light—and in this instance, followers of the God of Light were mortal enemies of all witches.

It didn’t take much foresight to imagine the tragedy she had witnessed earlier on the town square would soon repeat itself. Except next time, the one tied to the stake would be Eliza. And unlike the last victim, Eliza was a real witch.

What more could Su Ning say?

Let go of the desire to save others. Respect their fate.

She packed her things and left without looking back.

After Su Ning had gone, Eliza gripped the necklace in her hand tightly and muttered:

“No… Clinton would never lie to me. He’s definitely not my enemy…”

After leaving Eliza’s house, Su Ning originally planned to find a quiet place to enter her space. But she quickly sensed that someone was watching her from the shadows.

Her brow furrowed slightly.

Who’s tailing me?

A flash of Clinton’s figure passed through her mind. There was no one else it could be—he was the only one she had interacted with since arriving in town.

Still, Su Ning didn’t react. She knew she absolutely couldn’t use her powers while still inside the town.

And besides, the person watching her didn’t seem to have any hostile intent. If they did, her Super Misfortune Aura would have already kicked in and punished them.

Most likely, Clinton had grown suspicious after her conversation with Eliza.

So Su Ning simply acted like a normal person, wandering aimlessly through the town like any other civilian.

Meanwhile, Clinton hid behind a wall, tailing her carefully.

He wanted to see if this mysterious man who had suddenly shown up and met with his target was also part of the witch’s group.

“But… are there male witches?” As soon as the thought crossed his mind, Clinton dismissed it.

“No. That man can’t be a witch. Still, something about this feels off…”

Even so, he relaxed a bit.

After all, he had followed Su Ning all this time without being discovered. He even saw her go shopping for vegetables like a normal resident. She clearly didn’t act like some dark cultist or witch’s minion.

Satisfied, Clinton quietly left.

The moment Su Ning felt that shadowy gaze vanish, the weight on her chest lifted and she finally let out a sigh of relief.

She had originally planned to leave the town immediately through the front gate.

But as she arrived at the city gates, she saw a huge crowd gathering like a tidal wave. Su Ning didn’t know what was happening and thought something major had occurred, so she hurried forward to investigate.

What she saw next stunned her:

A military force poured into the city from the outside, a steel-like wave of soldiers in perfect formation.

And then… a magnificent golden carriage appeared—glistening like a radiant jewel.

The moment it appeared, the surrounding townspeople rushed forward, desperate and pleading.

“Messenger of the God of Light, please bless us!”

“Great envoy of light, please heal my child! He’s gravely ill, on the verge of death… Please, show mercy and save him! I swear I’ll worship the God of Light with all my heart!”

A woman burst through the crowd with a small child in her arms. The child’s face was as pale as a sheet of paper, and his body was wrapped in a deathly aura—like a candle flickering in the wind, barely holding on.

If no one acted fast, the child would surely die.

The guards standing in front of the carriage saw her charging like a madwoman and immediately drew their swords to repel her.

But just as they were about to shout her down, a soft and gentle voice echoed from inside the carriage:

“Do not be rude.”

The guards immediately froze, like they’d been struck by lightning. They lowered their swords at once and returned to their posts like statues.

Then, the carriage curtain lifted.

Out stepped a young man with frosty silver hair and a refined, elegant demeanor.

Though he appeared youthful, his presence was anything but ordinary.
His entire being radiated a holy, untouchable aura—like a brilliant sun.

The sobbing woman fell to her knees as if blown by a fierce wind and cried:

“Please, my lord, save my child!”

The silver-haired man’s expression remained gentle, like a spring breeze.

With just a wave of his right hand, a glowing orb of golden energy floated gently toward the child like a dancing butterfly.

The orb melted into the boy’s chest.

In the next moment, the deathly aura vanished, and the boy’s pale face began to regain color—like flowers blossoming under warm sunlight.

Moments later, the child opened his eyes—confused, like a lost fawn in the woods—and looked up at his mother.

“Mommy?”

Seeing her child healed, the woman burst into tears of joy and began kowtowing furiously to the silver-haired man.

Su Ning watched the man emerge from the carriage, and a surge of alarm flooded her heart.
Her sixth sense screamed at her—this man was like a venomous snake lurking in the dark. Extremely dangerous.

Then his status information appeared before her eyes:

[Native: Leone]
Bloodline:
Son of a God — Possesses divine lineage!
Talents:
Heart of Light: Mastery of light-based energy.
Illegitimate Child of a God: Powerful innate ability. Inherits divine strength from one parent, but can never surpass their power—unless the godly parent dies.
Skills:
Light Magic: Can cast a variety of light-based spells.
Healing Magic: Restores health and vitality.
Inspire Devotion: Can influence and control some townspeople through divine charisma.

After reading this, Su Ning was completely stunned.

“Son of a god? Illegitimate child of a god?”

She was initially shocked by Leone’s information… and then, her thoughts shifted.

Man… the gods in this instance really play dirty.

What a chaotic circle of divine drama.

Turns out, even gods had illegitimate children. Given this was a western-themed instance, she supposed it wasn’t entirely surprising.

And this was just one illegitimate child—on Blue Star (Earth), the myths about Western gods were even more scandalous.

“Messy” doesn’t even begin to describe it.

But none of that changed the fact that Leone put real pressure on her.

Su Ning immediately lowered her head, afraid even her gaze might draw attention.

Fortunately, so many people were already watching Leone that he didn’t notice her at all.

However… Su Ning soon realized she wouldn’t be able to leave the town now.

Because the entire city had suddenly been enveloped in a golden, glowing barrier.

The moment she saw it, a bad feeling rose in her chest.

Then, right on cue, Leone spoke from within the crowd.
