Chapter 183: Father-in-Law, Mother-in-Law?
Seeing the shocked expression on her face, the man slightly parted his lips and, in a weak voice, spoke again:
“Wife, your husband is hungry.”
Yu Luo was completely stunned. Hearing this man calling her that again, panic surged through her, and she frantically shook her head.
“I just picked you up off the ground! Don’t call me that! I’m not your wife! If you’re hungry, then stay hungry! It’s the middle of the night—where am I supposed to get food for you?!”
Seeing Yu Luo’s retreating figure, the disgusted look on her face, and her clear fear, the man’s eyebrows furrowed slightly. His star-like eyes dimmed, carrying a trace of hurt.
“Wife, why are you treating me like this?”
Yu Luo felt like she was about to explode.
“You—you—you stop looking at me with those pitiful puppy eyes! I’ll say it again—I’M NOT YOUR WIFE!”
She took a deep breath and continued, “I—I’m only sixteen! I haven’t even had my engagement set! Where would I get a husband like you?! You must have lost your memory—yes, that’s it! You definitely have amnesia!”
The man looked even more wronged, his gaze filled with sorrow as he looked at Yu Luo.
“But you are my wife. Wife, I… I really can’t remember anything else—just you.”
His innocent, wounded gaze held her completely still. Yu Luo was speechless. If she had known he would cling to her like this, would she have bothered saving him? What was the point of having a conscience if it just got her into trouble?!
Looking at this handsome but troublesome man, Yu Luo felt like crying.
“I was planning on letting you heal and leave on your own! But now?!”
She pointed at him angrily.
“You don’t even know who you are! And now you’re trying to stick to me? No way!”
The man’s expression darkened, his voice trembling slightly.
“Wife, are you abandoning your husband?”
His deep, low voice carried a hint of sadness.
“Your husband remembers nothing—only you. Please don’t leave your husband behind.”
“AAAAHHHHHHHHH!!!”
Yu Luo completely lost it.
Grabbing her hair in frustration, her high ponytail turned into a messy bird’s nest. She nearly passed out from sheer rage.
“You… you stubborn little—”
She gritted her teeth.
“I told you—I’M NOT YOUR WIFE! This is our first time meeting! Stop trying to latch onto me!”
She snapped, lowering her voice into a furious growl.
The man seemed to realize that Yu Luo was truly angry this time. His long eyelashes trembled, and his gaze dropped. His lips pressed into a line, his expression full of silent pain.
Yu Luo felt like steam was about to shoot out of her ears. Without another word, she turned on her heels and stormed out.
If she stayed any longer, he’d keep calling her “wife”—how the hell was she supposed to get rid of him then?!
Nope. This wouldn’t do. She needed to get her mother to check his brain. Wasn’t she a surgeon? Surely she could fix whatever was wrong with this guy’s head!
After searching for a while, Yu Luo finally spotted a dim light outside the main house in the front courtyard. She marched up angrily, ready to pound on the door—
But then…
Through the rain, soft moans and gasps echoed from inside.
Yu Luo’s steps halted. Her face flushed instantly. And then—she spun around and stormed off in a rage!
No wonder her mother ditched her! She had locked herself up with Dad for… well… Yu Luo didn’t want to think about it.
After wandering around for a while, she begrudgingly made her way back to the man’s room.
Fine. Let him call her whatever he wanted. Once his wounds healed, she’d kick him out—problem solved.
When she stepped back inside, the man had fallen asleep again under the dim candlelight. His breathing was steady. Yu Luo sighed in relief—at least she wouldn’t have to listen to him calling her “wife” for now.
After finishing his IV treatment, Tao Ming finally arrived. Seeing him, Yu Luo let out a long breath and quickly assigned him the duty.
“You stay here for the rest of the night. He doesn’t need any more medicine—just help him if he needs water or the restroom. I’m going to sleep.”
Tao Ming immediately nodded.
“Miss, don’t worry. I’ll take good care of him.”
Yu Luo: …
She wasn’t worried about him being taken care of—she just wanted him gone as soon as possible!
After leaving, Yu Luo didn’t go to bed right away. She spent the next half an hour exploring the massive mansion, quickly checking every major area. And even then, she didn’t finish—there were still parts she hadn’t seen.
Just counting the courtyards alone, she estimated there were at least twenty-five. The main residence itself had five different sections, not counting the fish ponds, gardens, and storage areas.
She then took advantage of the moment to release all the animals from her system’s storage. She filled the barns and coops with cows, sheep, horses, donkeys, chickens, ducks, and dogs. Even the fish pond was stocked.
After that, she loaded the granary, filled the pantries, and stocked the kitchen with oil, salt, sauces, and spices.
Now, everything could be used naturally.
With that done, she washed up quickly, found an empty courtyard, and finally collapsed into bed.
The next morning, when Ye Jiamei and Yu Haojie woke up, they stepped into the courtyard—and were shocked to see steaming hot breakfast already waiting on the table.
There were soft white buns, shredded radish salad, boiled eggs, and a pot of warm rice porridge.
“Xiao Luo is such a sweetheart! She even made breakfast for us!”
Ye Jiamei sat down immediately, grabbing a bun.
But before Yu Haojie could sit, Tao Ming entered, carrying fresh pancakes.
Seeing the couple, Tao Ming quickly bowed.
“Greetings, Madam. Greetings, Master.”
The couple exchanged glances, eyes full of confusion.
“Tao Ming… did you make this?”
“Yes!” Tao Ming answered earnestly. “I already delivered breakfast to the young master’s courtyard. Miss is still sleeping—I left hers in the kitchen.”
“Wait… what did you just call yourself?”
Tao Ming smiled.
“Miss has taken me in as her personal guard. She said I will follow her into battle.”

After breakfast, they went to the man’s room—only to find him calmly eating porridge.
When he looked up at them, his deep gaze was thoughtful.
Then, after a moment, he calmly greeted them:
“Father-in-law. Mother-in-law.”
