Chapter 127: The Old Chi Family is Doomed
Chi Qian’s head felt like a pumpkin.
What kind of garbage plot was this?
Author, f*** your uncle!
To destroy the Chi family, you really threw away all logic and reason, huh?
Everyone connected to the Chi family ended up dying inexplicably.
It was the perfect example of “If the author wants you dead by midnight, don’t even dream of living until dawn.”
Chi Qian’s whole body went stiff!
“Knock, knock, knock!” Someone rapped on the door.
Chi Qian went to the door, peered through the peephole—no one outside.
But the knocking continued.
Huh, supernatural stuff now?
With a swish, Chi Qian yanked the door open. Left, right—still no one.
“Chirp chirp!” A soft, babyish sound came from below.
Chi Qian looked down.
A mini version of the eagle monster stood there, two claws neatly together, chest puffed out, looking very well-behaved.
On its shoulder, it carried a twig, and dangling from the twig was a tiny cloth bundle.
It looked exactly like a runaway kid, showing up at a relative’s house with its own luggage, ready to move in.
So it was this little guy knocking on the door?
Chi Qian crouched down and poked its fluffy little head. “Tiny one, aren’t you afraid of dying, running around knocking on human doors?”
“Chirp chirp!” The little eagle monster puffed up, unhappy. “It’s me! You forgot me already?!”
Chi Qian stared at it for a long while. “…The giant eagle??”
“It’s me!”
“How did you become so tiny? Even your voice sounds all soft and squeaky.”
“I was pretending before! This is my real voice!”
The giant eagle—no, the baby eagle—dropped its bundle and flung itself at Chi Qian’s legs, wrapping its wings tightly around her.
“We’ve been looking for you forever! From the day before yesterday until now. We were so dizzy from rushing on the road with barely any food. Once we got to the city, we even chased a stray dog for ten whole streets!”
“How dare it bark at me! If it hadn’t run so fast, I would’ve bitten its head clean off!”
The little eagle’s eyes welled up as it hugged Chi Qian’s finger, sobbing.
Chi Qian twitched her lips. “You’re crying? Shouldn’t it be that dog crying?”
Couldn’t even beat a shrunken-down baby eagle. What a disgrace to all dogs everywhere.
The bundle on the ground suddenly wriggled like a fat caterpillar.
“Hey, hey, are we there yet? Let me out already!”
Chi Qian blinked. Why did this voice sound so familiar too?
The little eagle quickly remembered and untied the knot.
Out crawled a mini golden noodle, tongue flicking. “I almost suffocated in there!”
Chi Qian poked its head. “You came too?”
This thing had once been the size of a massive poop. Now it was as small as bird poop.
The only thing that hadn’t changed was its chubby body.
Even shrunken down, it was still fat.
The golden noodle rattled the little bell on its tail and snorted, “I-I came to play with you, okay? We snakes keep our promises!”
Chi Qian’s aura had always been faint and hard to track.
The two of them had taken turns traveling—by day running marathons, by night the little eagle carrying the golden noodle as it struggled to fly.
At last, they’d managed to follow her scent here.
But to avoid being discovered by humans, they hadn’t dared to change back to their true forms.
Now the three of them stared at each other—girl, fat-headed eagle, and big noodle.
“You two aren’t planning to freeload off me, are you?” Chi Qian narrowed her eyes.
A fat-headed eagle and a giant noodle—how much food would that take in one day?! She could barely feed herself.
“No way!” The golden noodle squeaked, “We—we won’t eat for free! We brought a dowry, okay?!”
“Dowry??”
The little eagle rummaged through the bundle and pulled out a huge pink pearl necklace, a yellow diamond, two luminous night pearls, and three jewel-encrusted combs…
They piled up into a glittering little mountain in front of Chi Qian.
Heaven only knew how such a tiny bundle could hold so much treasure.
The little eagle puffed out its fluffy chest with pride. “Normal people can’t take anything out of the castle. Only we can! Whatever you want, we can get it for you!”
The golden noodle added, “We’re awesome! We can even be your bodyguards, nya!”
Chi Qian looked serious. “Honestly, since the last century, I’ve always wanted to raise a little eagle and a little snake.”
She held out one finger. “Welcome aboard.”
The golden noodle was so excited it whipped its tail—smacking the eagle in the face—then rubbed its head against Chi Qian’s finger.
The little eagle kicked it away and hugged her hand with both chubby wings.
Within seconds, the two were fighting again, the fragile harmony they’d kept during their journey completely gone.
Chi Qian grabbed them both by the scruff and pulled them apart.
“No fighting. From now on you’re partners, so get along.”
The golden noodle and the little eagle glared at each other, snorted, and turned their heads.
“Oh right, almost forgot.” The golden noodle said, “On the way here, we saw your companion. He chased someone into the forest.”
Chi Qian blinked. “Which companion? What did he look like?”
The little eagle: “That man in black who rode the roller coaster with you.”
“Oh, that’s my little uncle.”
“We saw the person he was chasing. He had something weird strapped to him.”
“What kind of weird thing?”
“Looked like… explosives.”
Chi Qian’s heart clenched.
In the original story, her little uncle was crippled during a mission, which twisted his personality into ruthlessness and cruelty.
If it was happening today—crippled legs = twisted personality = ruthless and irrational = the Chi family is doomed.
No, no, no!!
Chi Qian patted the little eagle. “Can you take me to that forest?”
The little eagle flapped its wings. “I’ll transform right now and carry you!”
Chi Qian: “If you change back, you’ll get caught by humans. Then I’ll have to break into a research lab to rescue you before they dissect you.”
Golden noodle: “Then what about me, nya?”
“You’re even worse—you’d scare people to death.”
The two drooped in disappointment.
Chi Qian tapped her chin. “But you two can freely change your size, right?”
“Yeah.”
“In that case… I have an idea.”
“Rawr?”
Chi Qian thought—maybe… she could make herself a magic wand.
Just look at this golden noodle. Perfect stick shape.
And the fat-headed eagle? Absolutely broom material!
Let’s do it!
Ten minutes later, Chi Qian was soaring through the sky on her broom.
The golden noodle stretched long and straight—soft and springy, yet solid enough not to hurt her butt.
The little eagle clung tightly to the golden noodle’s tail, its wings flapping hard, carrying Chi Qian without any effort at all.
A full-on mutated magic double broom!
Luckily, it was already getting dark, and there weren’t many people around. Otherwise, if someone saw this, there would be no way to explain it.
Chi Qian flew over the forest, searching around but couldn’t find Chi Yanliu.
“Bang!”
A gunshot rang out in the distance.
Chi Qian had the little eagle fly toward the sound.
The drug lord had already been forced into a corner by Chi Yanliu. His face was covered in blood, his eyes dark and menacing.
His hand was on his waist, ready to trigger the explosives strapped to him, prepared to drag Chi Yanliu to death with him.
“Major Chi, you’re still so young. I’m sure you don’t want to die here with me,” the drug lord sneered. “Why don’t we both take a step back, how about it?”
“In your dreams.” Chi Yanliu’s voice was cold, his gun unwaveringly aimed at the man’s head.
“Dragging someone down with me before I die isn’t so bad!” the drug lord roared, suddenly charging at him.
The C4 strapped to his body would explode in just seven seconds!
Chi Yanliu fired a shot right into his forehead.
Three seconds left before detonation!
