Chapter 127: Zerg Invasion 21
Inside the supermarket, many shelves were surprisingly empty.
Chu Yian led Lu Qingyuan to buy a large amount of compressed biscuits and instant noodles, putting them all in a shopping cart and directly transporting them to the Fourth Laboratory Building.
After storing the food, the two went out again.
They bought drinking water and some medicines for colds, inflammation, and external injuries. The unused laboratory was already neatly stacked with all kinds of supplies.
Lu Qingyuan looked at the piles of items on the floor. “You’ve thought of everything.”
“It’s a must.”
Hearing the compliment, Chu Yian raised an eyebrow. After so many rounds of games, where she had to hoard supplies, it was only natural to gain some experience.
Lu Qingyuan looked at her slightly smug expression, and the corners of his mouth curved upwards slightly, but this expression was fleeting, quickly returning to his serious and stern demeanor.
“Let’s go, return to the Fifth Laboratory Building immediately.”
By the time they returned, it was already past four in the afternoon, but the professors hadn’t finished their task of dismantling the sonar. One of the professors even twisted his old back from not exercising for years.
Lu Qingyuan’s previously relaxed brows furrowed again. “Can you finish it before 5:30?”
“We can only try our best.”
However, by the time they actually extracted the sonar, it was almost six o’clock.
The campus broadcast was playing music, and almost all the students in the teaching building had left. Only then did they lift the sonar onto a cart, with people carrying the remaining scattered items.
“Are we leaving now?”
It was no longer a good time to leave. Some people were even waiting on the roadside outside the teaching building.
“Yes.”
Lu Qingyuan nodded. “Everyone walks together, with the instrument in the middle and the younger ones on the outside.”
Hearing his decision, Chu Yian moved a stool, stepped onto the table where the instrument was placed, and quickly reached up to remove the curtain from the window. The curtain was not small, completely covering the instrument on the cart, while Lu Qingyuan himself took the knives from the laboratory used for dissecting small animals.
“Let’s go.”
Lu Qingyuan led the way, pressed the elevator button, and after confirming no one was inside, he let the instrument and the five professors go in first. Chu Yian and Principal Li followed closely. Lu Qingyuan and the remaining people took the second elevator down.
While waiting for them, the security guard at the entrance of the teaching building watched Chu Yian and her group from the window.
The security guard looked to be in his forties.
His skin was shriveled, and his face was full of wrinkles.
As he watched, he reached out and opened the door to the security office on the first floor, slowly walking towards them. “Principal Li, just getting off work now?”
The person was heading straight for the principal.
Principal Li’s head immediately started to ache. In the current situation, he felt everyone was a Parasitized.
“Ah… yes, yes, yes, it’s just been a bit busy.”
He nodded, forcing himself to exchange pleasantries with the man. “You’ve been guarding here all this time, haven’t you eaten yet?”
“It’s my duty to stay vigilant.”
As the security guard spoke, he stepped closer to Principal Li. Principal Li couldn’t help but take half a step back, silently shouting in his heart for him not to come closer.
Just then, there was a ding.
The elevator behind them opened, and Lu Qingyuan’s voice came from inside. “Why are you blocking the way here instead of going outside?”
Hearing this voice, Principal Li felt he had found a savior. “Yes, yes, yes, we still have things to do, so we won’t chat anymore.”
“Oh, the teachers are busy. I’m so sorry to bother you.”
The security guard showed no abnormalities so far. Seeing them about to leave, he quickly made way. His expression was six parts smile, seven parts fawning. He looked like a normal, ordinary person.
Just a false alarm, perhaps.
Principal Li withdrew his gaze and turned to pull the cart.
Chu Yian also followed the cart closely. Whether the people outside were Parasitized or not was not important for now; ensuring the sonar was safe was all that mattered.
Now, Principal Li and Chu Yian were leading the way. The young students surrounded the professors and the instrument, while Lu Qingyuan walked at the very back.
He looked at the security guard who had followed them to the doorway. The two exchanged glances for two seconds.
The security guard stopped in place and no longer moved forward, standing at the door and staring blankly at the departing group. A wriggling parasite crawled across his eyeball… On the main road between the Fourth Laboratory Building and the Fifth Laboratory Building, besides their group, there were five or six scattered people on the road.
In the quiet campus, the rattling sound of the cart on the concrete road was particularly loud.
People both far and near looked towards them because of this sound. Some merely stopped in place, curiously observing, while others began to approach them.
Besides pulling the sonar, Chu Yian was also looking around.
She watched the people continuously gathering towards them, and a bad premonition arose in her heart.
“Principal, let’s speed up.”
She turned to Principal Li, and her quick walk turned into a jog. She ran while still having to take care of the sonar, a motion that seemed a bit comical.
The two leaders sped up, and the entire team began to run.
Chu Yian ran into the Fourth Laboratory Building and immediately stood at the door. As Lu Qingyuan was the last to enter, she immediately closed the open door.
Everyone who had been following them was now shut outside the glass door.
Someone nearby witnessed this scene and was a bit puzzled, patting their companion. “What are they doing?”
“I don’t know, never mind, let’s just go quickly.”
Another timid companion adjusted his glasses. “The school’s been strange lately, don’t get involved.”
…Inside the teaching building
The security guard on duty inside opened the door to his office and ran out. “What are you doing? Didn’t you see there were still people behind you?”
As he spoke, he reached out to pull the doorknob that Chu Yian had closed.
Principal Li was about to explain when Chu Yian’s leg flew out.
She kicked the person near the door with great force, so much so that her leg went numb. However, kicking the security guard in the abdomen, he only took two steps back.
He showed no expression of pain, only anger on his face. “What are you students doing?”
Saying that, he grabbed his police baton and was about to strike Chu Yian.
Lu Qingyuan appeared at this moment. His strength was greater than Chu Yian’s; he directly kicked the man to the ground, grabbed him by the back of his collar, dragged him back into the security office, and then used the police baton to wedge the door shut.
Both of their attacks were heavy-handed, but the security guard’s face only showed anger, no pain.
Chu Yian looked at Lu Qingyuan. “Do Parasitized people not feel pain?”
“We’ll discuss that later, first get them upstairs.”
The elevator arrived.
Since there were many of them, they still had to split into two groups to go up and down.
There were a total of six elevators in the building, two of which went to the high floors on the twentieth floor. They could split up and go up simultaneously.
Chu Yian pushed the sonar into one of the elevators. As soon as she entered, people came in behind her. The space occupied by the cart plus five people already filled the elevator, so Lu Qingyuan and Principal Li could only take the other elevator.
