Chapter 229: The Green-Haired Younger Brother
Gu Yujin reached out and gently patted her stomach. “I think your stomach is just fine.”
Gu Xueying, pale-faced, insisted, “I told you I’m not feeling well!”
Gu Yujin emphasized coldly, “I also said, you’re perfectly fine.”
Despair filled Gu Xueying’s eyes as she watched the car show no signs of stopping, instead heading deeper into more remote and dilapidated areas.
Finally, at the end of the road, a small courtyard appeared.
Gu Xueying’s heart leapt into her throat as she kept guessing what her biological parents would be like. Were they people from the lowest rungs of society, like those she saw in news reports?
Her most practical thought was: Would this person end up dragging her down?
The car finally stopped. Gu Yujin got out first, turned to glance at Gu Xueying, and seeing her hesitating, didn’t hesitate himself. He bent down and carried her out in a princess carry.

For a moment, she couldn’t even tell the difference between this woman and a beggar on the street.
However, strangely, she found the woman somewhat familiar. Gu Xueying thought it was probably because of their resemblance.
Gu Yujin didn’t keep her guessing. He directly said, “You should have seen her in the news before. Over twenty years ago, she was famous all across the country.”
Confusion flashed in Gu Xueying’s eyes.
Gu Yujin explained, “This is Miss Fangfei, who was once a huge star. Outsiders only know she suddenly disappeared over twenty years ago. They have no idea she actually went insane.”
Gu Xueying had imagined many possibilities, but she had never thought her biological mother would have such a bizarre past.
“Why did she go insane?” Gu Xueying asked.
In her heart, she felt a tinge of regret. A once-famous superstar—if she hadn’t gone mad—then even if she wasn’t the real daughter of the Gu family, she could’ve still lived a life of luxury just by relying on her celebrity mother.
Gu Yujin chuckled lightly and said, “Who knows? Maybe she suffered some unbearable trauma.”
Gu Xueying felt that answer was practically useless. She asked again, “What about my biological father?”
“Who knows who the father of a madwoman’s child is?” Gu Yujin said with a smile.
Even though the woman before her was her biological mother, Gu Xueying had no intention of staying long. Coldly, she said to Gu Yujin, “You wanted me to meet my birth family, I’ve seen it now. We can go back.”
Gu Yujin gently shook his head. “No rush. Your blood relatives aren’t just your mother—you also have siblings.”
Gu Xueying’s face changed drastically.
Meanwhile, in the villa, after waking up from her nap, Xu Yuyou didn’t dare delay and immediately called someone to head out.
Lu Jingyao casually asked, “Where are you going?”
Xu Yuyou, following the system’s prompts, couldn’t answer directly. She could only say vaguely, “You’ll see when we get there.”
They took the car driven by Xu Fang, who sat at the wheel, maintaining a steady pace, ears perked to catch any hints from Xu Yuyou.
Lu Jingyao watched as the car drove into increasingly remote areas, eventually reaching the end of a rundown street where a local-plate Maybach was parked.
Lu Jingyao didn’t think much of it, assuming Xu Yuyou had arranged to meet someone there.
But Xu Yuyou’s heart skipped a beat—this was supposed to be a lucky find task prompted by the system. The broken-down surroundings and the luxury car were such a mismatch that she feared someone else might compete with her for it.
When she and Lu Jingyao entered the courtyard and saw two familiar figures, Xu Yuyou couldn’t help but curse in her heart.
Gu Xueying was so shocked by seeing Xu Yuyou that she almost screamed on the spot, angrily demanding, “What are you doing here? Why did you come?”
Gu Yujin’s expression turned ugly too. He frowned and asked, “Were you following us?”
Xu Yuyou felt baffled. She couldn’t figure out why these two were here, nor why Gu Xueying was reacting so intensely.
At this moment, the changing expressions on Gu Xueying’s face—shame, resentment—made it look like she’d been caught cheating by Xu Yuyou.
“This place got your name on it? I can’t come here?” Xu Yuyou retorted.
Gu Yujin narrowed his eyes and said nothing.
Gu Xueying grabbed his hand, trying to leave, but she forgot—she could never sway Gu Yujin’s decisions.
Just then, a voice rang out from behind them:
“Well, well, it’s rare for my place to have such fancy guests.”
At the gate, a young man with messy green-dyed hair walked in.
He actually had a handsome face, but his casual, lazy demeanor immediately made people dislike him.
“Those luxury cars at the door yours? Damn, even the cheapest one must cost over a million. What are you doing at my house? Don’t tell me you’ve taken a fancy to my mom?” The young man grinned, pointing to the woman sitting on the ground, who was chained by her foot.
Xu Yuyou frowned slightly and was about to speak when she heard Gu Xueying’s slightly shrill voice: “We got lost! We’re leaving right now!”
The green-haired young man maintained his casual attitude, smiling as he said, “A bunch of you getting lost together? Funny thing is, someone told me a few days ago that I have an older sister. So which one of you is it? Or are you both my sisters?”
Xu Yuyou looked at Gu Xueying in shock.
Could it be that this woman and the young man are Gu Xueying’s biological mother and brother?
Gu Xueying almost exploded. She clenched her teeth, desperately trying to hold back, then suddenly turned and questioned Gu Yujin, “You think stepping on my dignity in front of Xu Yuyou makes you feel especially good, don’t you?”

Gu Xueying couldn’t bear the thought of acknowledging him as her brother. She frantically shook her head, “I’m not your sister… I…”
