Chapter 156: Meeting the Creditors
A flicker of guilt passed through Qian Run’s eyes, and he quickly said, “Miss Xu, you have to believe me. I would never deceive you.”
Xu Youyou wasn’t a child who would be fooled by these dry words. She looked at him leisurely and asked, “What exactly did you do to owe someone fifty million?”
Qian Run hesitated for a moment before responding, “Well… I just… I just speculated in futures…”
A flash of understanding crossed Xu Youyou’s eyes. She had heard many stories about people who lost everything in futures trading—greedy for profit, only to fall into irreversible ruin.
“How much private debt do you have outside?” Xu Youyou asked.
Qian Run’s eyes shifted uncomfortably. “Not much, just thirty million to the Red Dragon King.”
Xu Youyou chuckled lightly. “Selling a house, smuggling abroad, and you’ve only owed thirty million?”
His house could easily sell for a hundred million. After deducting the thirty million debt, there would still be seventy million left, enough for him to live a very comfortable life in the country. There was no reason for him to flee abroad.
Qian Run smiled awkwardly and said, “I’ve always dreamed of immigrating…”
Xu Youyou stood up. “Let’s go. I’m not interested in listening to your nonsense.”
Qian Run became anxious. “Miss Xu, we can talk this over properly. I guarantee my private debts won’t affect this house.”
Xu Youyou replied, “Isn’t it because of the house that the Red Dragon King lent you thirty million? Are you trying to fool me?”
Qian Run hadn’t expected Xu Youyou, despite appearing like an elegant young lady, to be so hard to deceive.
However, due to the Red Dragon King’s influence, several previous buyers had been scared off, and even though they were interested in purchasing the house, they backed out because of the threats. Now that he had encountered Xu Youyou, a potential buyer who seemed both new and capable, he couldn’t afford to miss this opportunity.
“Miss Xu, if you have any doubts, we can sit down and talk it over. The price is negotiable…” Qian Run suggested.
Xu Youyou pretended to play with her phone, while secretly sending a message to Xu Fang.
Xu Fang quietly left the yard.
“Miss Xu, I’ll take a small loss—how about one hundred and fifteen million for the house? It’s yours, deal?” Qian Run said, trying to appear generous.
Xu Youyou didn’t leave, but she wasn’t eager to negotiate either. “Does the sale price cover your private mortgage? Don’t let me buy the house, only for a bunch of creditors to appear later, each one saying you mortgaged the house to them.”
“Miss Xu, even if there’s a mortgage, it’s a private one. When I left the country, you can totally ignore it,” Qian Run tried to reassure her.
Xu Youyou gave him a knowing look. “Go tell that to the court and see if they’ll buy that story.”
Even if it was a private mortgage, if it was legitimate, the mortgage still applied. Even if the house had been transferred, the lien would still exist. It would simply mean that the debt would shift from the previous owner to the unfortunate new one.
Qian Run said, “Miss Xu, you’re overthinking. It’s just a small debt. How could it end up in court?”
Xu Youyou responded, “Once your debts are settled, we can talk about the house.”
Qian Run became more anxious. The Red Dragon King’s people were closing in, and if Xu Youyou ran away too, he wouldn’t find another buyer.
“Miss Xu, I’ll tell you exactly how many private mortgages I have. Let’s settle the price today, and the transfer can go through. Don’t worry, once I have the purchase money, I’ll pay off the debts immediately. It won’t involve you at all,” Qian Run assured her.
Xu Youyou raised her chin slightly, pretending to listen intently.
“I owe the Red Dragon King thirty million, and I still owe my aunt ten million. There’s also a debt of five million. Aside from that, there’s nothing else.”
Just then, Xu Youyou’s phone pinged with a message. She glanced at it—it was from Xu Fang: “Boss, Qian Run is unmarried and childless. His parents are already deceased, and all other relatives have cut ties with him due to his failure to repay loans. He has mortgaged this house for a lot of money—at least sixty million.”
Xu Youyou had asked Xu Fang to investigate Qian Run’s situation while she went to the local community.
The people in the community appeared to be ordinary, but they were actually well-informed about local matters.
As she turned back, Xu Youyou overheard Qian Run still swearing and trying to reassure her, and she couldn’t help but laugh. “Qian Run, you’ve clearly mortgaged your house for three hundred million, and you still dare to lie to me?”
Qian Run’s eyes went wide. Without thinking, he immediately blurted, “It’s not three hundred million! I only owe eighty million!”
After he said this, he immediately looked regretful. “Miss Xu, you can’t deceive me like this!”
Xu Youyou raised an eyebrow. “You’re the one trying to deceive me.”
Qian Run sighed. “Miss Xu, you’re really too sharp. Since you’ve listened to me for so long, it’s clear you’re truly interested in buying the house. If it doesn’t work, when we finalize the transaction, I’ll settle the debts. How about that?”
Xu Youyou was indeed considering this. With Qian Run preparing to leave the country, if she wanted to secure the house smoothly, she could only use this method to settle the private mortgage.
“I’ll gather the people now. As for the others, especially the Red Dragon King, he’s the one who really wants the house. I can withhold his money for now, and you can return it to him later. How about that?” Qian Run offered proactively.
Xu Youyou nodded in agreement, but there was a nagging feeling in the back of her mind that everything was going too smoothly.
Still, she didn’t want to miss the opportunity and risk a mistake in the details.
“Promissory note,” Xu Youyou said.
Qian Run replied, “The promissory notes are in the bedroom. If you don’t trust me, you can have any of the bodyguards come with me to get them.”
Xu Youyou casually pointed to one of the bodyguards.
Ten minutes later, the bodyguard returned with a small box.
When the box was opened, it contained a stack of notes, including the promissory notes to the Red Dragon King. The total amount owed on all the notes added up to eighty-one million.
Xu Fang returned as well, bringing with her a pre-prepared property transaction contract, just waiting for the numbers to be filled in.
Xu Youyou didn’t intervene, but Xu Fang then fiercely bargained with Qian Run. Eventually, the final sale price for the property was agreed at one hundred and ten million. However, because Xu Youyou would cover the thirty million debt owed to the Red Dragon King in the future, the price listed on the property contract was eighty million.
But Qian Run insisted that the transaction be completed today, with the full payment made and the property transfer completed.
Xu Youyou was very straightforward. “You gather the creditors. I want to make sure you pay them back.”
Qian Run immediately made a phone call, summoning the creditors. Everyone was in a hurry to settle things, and even those who were out of town rushed back after buying tickets to return.
As they were heading to the real estate office, only half of the creditors had arrived.
“Miss Xu, we owe everything to you. Otherwise, who knows when we would’ve been able to get this money back?” one of the older creditors said, tears welling up in their eyes.
