Chapter 89: Hot Noodles : A Reward for You
“Where is Zhi Qi?”
Helan Xiaoyue put away her dagger and asked.
Watching her actions, Fang Xiaocao let out a sigh of relief.
Helan Xiaoyue’s combat skills were on par with Capricorn’s.
Being stared at by such a formidable warrior, armed with a blade, it would be a lie to say Fang Xiaocao wasn’t nervous.
“Zhi Qi and the others are behind us.”
Fang Xiaocao answered truthfully.
“You know Zhi Qi?”
She probed.
“I’ve heard of her.”
Helan Xiaoyue replied in a low voice.
“Do you want to join us?”
“The entire mountain is under the Blacklist’s blockade now.”
“We don’t know how long we’ll have to stay here, and sticking together will help minimize our losses.”
Fang Xiaocao hesitated before suggesting.
“Alright!”
Helan Xiaoyue agreed without hesitation.
“But don’t worry too much. We already used a satellite phone to call for help.”
“By now, the local authorities should be coordinating a joint rescue mission.”
She added seriously.
“Really?”
Fang Xiaocao exclaimed in delight.
“Of course.”
Helan Xiaoyue nodded.
“That’s great!”
Fang Xiaocao grinned.
With Helan Xiaoyue and Yu Tianqi’s group joining them, and knowing that help was on the way, Fang Xiaocao quickly adjusted their plan.
Instead of heading for the gathering point, they would stay put and wait for the rescuers.
Once they regrouped with Zhi Qi and the others, Fang Xiaocao warmly invited Helan Xiaoyue’s team to join them for roasted wild boar.
Late Night
A bonfire crackled at the camp.
Everyone gathered around, roasting wild boar meat over the flames.
Leaning against a large tree, Fang Xiaocao stared blankly at the sparse night sky.
“Gua gua gua—”
The croaking of frogs startled her.
She glanced around. Seeing that no one was paying attention to her, she pulled out her phone.
Deep in the mountains, there was no signal.
At times like this, the only messages that could come through were from Hot Noodles.
She unlocked her phone and opened WeChat.
As expected, there was a new message.
[Hot Noodles: Congratulations, you’re safe.]
Seeing this, Fang Xiaocao smiled and muted her phone before replying:
“Congratulations to you too, my future self!”
[Hot Noodles: Same to you!]
[Hot Noodles: You’ve grown a lot.]
Reading this, Fang Xiaocao grinned.
“Of course!”
“After facing life and death, growth is inevitable!”
[Hot Noodles: Look at you, getting all smug now.]
“Enough with the chit-chat. Since I’ve grown so much, don’t I deserve a reward?”
Fang Xiaocao replied, adding an expectant emoji.
[Hot Noodles: Of course!]
[Hot Noodles: The reason I didn’t stop you from entering the mountain is because there’s a priceless treasure hidden here.]
[Hot Noodles: And now, I’ll use that treasure as your reward for surviving and leveling up.]
“A treasure?”
“Priceless?!”
Fang Xiaocao’s eyes instantly lit up.
“Where is it?”
She asked eagerly.
[Hot Noodles: Impatient, aren’t you?]
“As if you’re any better!”
Fang Xiaocao rolled her eyes.
She knew that whatever wealth she obtained here, Hot Noodles—her future self—would gain the same benefit.
Though they were one and the same, their relationship was also mutually beneficial.
[Hot Noodles: Tsk, can’t argue with you.]
Seeing the message, Fang Xiaocao smirked.
“Hmph!”
“Trying to outplay me?”
She muttered smugly.
“Hurry up and tell me where the treasure is!”
“Once the rescuers arrive, I won’t get another chance to dig it up!”
She urged.
[Hot Noodles: Walk one kilometer down the path behind you. There’s an ancient tomb. The treasure you seek is inside.]
“An ancient tomb?”
“Are you telling me to rob a grave?”
She was momentarily stunned.
[Hot Noodles: What, scared?]
[Hot Noodles: The past me wouldn’t have been such a coward.]
“Tch—”
“Who’s scared?!”
“I’m not afraid at all!”
“It’s just an ancient tomb. What’s the big deal?”
Fang Xiaocao fired off a string of messages.
“But…”
“I don’t know how to dig a tunnel.”
She admitted helplessly.
[Hot Noodles: There’s already an entrance. You just need to go in and retrieve the treasure.]
“Seriously?!”
Her eyes sparkled with excitement.
[Hot Noodles: Of course.]
A moment later, a map popped up in the chat.
[Hot Noodles: The tomb is at this location. If you leave now, you’ll be back before the rescuers arrive.]
Fang Xiaocao bit her lip.
“Fortune favors the bold. Let’s do this!”
She sent a quick reply and pocketed her phone.
Standing up, she stretched lazily before walking over to the bonfire.
“Aquarius, come with me to the bathroom.”
“I’m too scared to go alone.”
Hearing this, Zhi Qi and the others chuckled but didn’t tease her.
After all, none of them would dare go alone either.
Capricorn could still be lurking nearby.
“Alright.”
Aquarius nodded and stood up.
“Hehe~”
“I’ll be right back!”
Fang Xiaocao grinned at the group.
“May your bathroom break be a success!”
The mischievous Yu Ling quipped.
“Hahaha…”
Laughter erupted around the campfire.
“Pfft—”
Fang Xiaocao spat, rolling her eyes at Yu Ling.
Waving at Aquarius, she turned and followed the route from Hot Noodles’ map into the depths of the forest.
“Aquarius, follow me!”
Once they were out of sight, she pulled out her phone and checked the map while calling out to him.
“Yes!”
Aquarius responded respectfully.
Watching her, she was puzzled.
“It’s just a bathroom trip… why so serious?”
“She even brought a map… is she looking for the perfect feng shui spot to pee?”
She wondered.
If Fang Xiaocao knew what she was thinking, she’d probably explode in frustration.
Carefully following the map, she moved cautiously through the forest.
Aquarius, gun in hand, stayed close behind, her eyes darting around nervously.
She was more worried about some wild beast suddenly appearing and scaring Fang Xiaocao than anything else.
“Aquarius, this way!”
Fang Xiaocao called, spotting the correct path.
