Chapter 168: The Attack of Taotie
Hotel!
Fifth-floor corridor!
“Are you sure it’s Room 507?”
Taotie, now back to his original appearance, asked his female secretary beside him.
“Absolutely. The target is in Room 507,” the secretary replied with a smile.
“Room 508 has always been a decoy. The person staying there is actually a detective from the city’s criminal investigation team.”
“Luckily, you told me to double-check. That woman, Capricorn, is really unreliable. Her intel almost got us in trouble,” the secretary added, clearly frustrated.
“Hmph, we’ll settle the score with that bitch later,” Taotie said with a scowl, nodding in agreement.
“Are the cops still in Room 508?” Taotie glanced at the tightly shut door of 508 and asked.
“No, they just left! Apparently, the person they were staking out showed up but managed to escape, so they went to assist in the pursuit,” the secretary replied after checking her phone.
“Perfect.”
“Then it’s time for us to make our move.”
Taotie nodded coldly.
“You go wait for me downstairs. Once we’re done, we’ll leave immediately. I don’t want to get tangled up with the cops,” Taotie said impatiently, as if recalling something unpleasant.
Hearing Taotie’s tone, the secretary instinctively shrank her neck and obediently headed for the elevator.
Her boss absolutely loathed the police.
He was also extremely wary of them.
Years ago, Taotie had suffered a major loss at the hands of the city’s law enforcement.
He had nearly been captured in a villa at Site Five.
A damn dog had dug up corpses Taotie had buried in the garden, leading to a police blockade of the villa. If the officers had known about the basement at the time, Taotie might not have made it out alive.
Taotie only survived by eating a woman’s corpse to sustain himself while hiding in the basement for two days. It wasn’t until the forensic team left and the villa was sealed off that he managed to escape.
It was sheer luck.
The moment Taotie slipped out, the police received the blueprints of the villa and discovered the basement. They immediately doubled back to search it.
If he had been just a little slower…
There would be no Taotie today.
Then, just half a month ago, Taotie returned to Tang City to deal with a traitor in their organization. But things went south again.
The traitor had embezzled billions in Bitcoin meant for the organization’s research funding.
While tracking him down, Taotie ran into the city’s police force again. To prevent the traitor from cooperating with the cops and exposing the Blacklist, Taotie had no choice but to kill him.
But the billions in Bitcoin? Gone.
When he returned to the Blacklist headquarters, he got a brutal scolding and even had his operational funds cut for an entire year.
It was humiliating.
Every time he was in Tang City, something went wrong.
Either the police were hunting him, or they were ruining his plans. He had never completed a job smoothly in this damn city.
It was like he and Tang City were destined to be at odds.
Watching the secretary enter the elevator, Taotie waited until it reached the first floor before retracting his gaze.
His cold, ruthless eyes then locked onto the door of Room 507, a flicker of murderous intent flashing within them.
“It’s time to deal with you.”
Muttering to himself, Taotie strode toward Room 507.
He gripped the door handle tightly.
The muscles in his arm bulged instantly.
With a sharp crack, the door lock was crushed under his grip.
Seeing this, a smirk flashed across Taotie’s face. He then raised his foot and delivered a vicious kick.
With the lock already broken, the door was sent flying open.
Taotie lunged inside like a hungry predator.
His sharp eyes swept across the frosted glass door of the bathroom—empty.
Without hesitation, he charged into the bedroom.
If the target wasn’t in the bathroom, it had to be in the bedroom.
The sound of the door being broken down had also attracted the attention of the officers stationed in Room 512. Two patrol officers from the local precinct immediately ran toward Room 507, drawing their batons as they moved.
“Empty?”
Seeing the vacant room, Taotie was stunned.
Unwilling to accept it, he frantically scanned every corner.
No sign of Fang Xiaocao.
Now Taotie was pissed.
Another botched job!
More bad intel!
His anger surged.
Just as he turned to leave, he heard footsteps approaching.
His eyes darkened, his fists clenched tightly.
As his grip tightened, the veins in his muscular arms bulged.
In that moment, Taotie’s killing intent flared.
Whoever was coming was clearly drawn by the noise of his break-in.
And anyone who interfered with him—died.
The footsteps got closer.
Then, two uniformed officers appeared, batons in hand.
Taotie’s pupils contracted.
Then his murderous aura exploded.
Without hesitation, he swung his massive fists toward the officers’ heads.
The two cops, though not frontline fighters, had received basic combat training. They instinctively dodged Taotie’s incoming strikes, avoiding the deadly blows to their heads.
But in a real fight?
They were completely outclassed.
Taotie wasn’t just a brawler—he was a predator.
With his punches missing, he immediately shifted his weight, bent his knees, and launched into the air.
Using a classic Muay Thai knee strike, he drove his knee straight into the officers’ chests.
BAM! BAM!
With two dull thuds, the officers were sent flying.
They slammed into the hallway wall and collapsed to the ground.
“Urgh…”
Both spat out blood, their bodies crumpling.
Taotie sneered.
More police were rushing toward them from Room 512.
He clicked his tongue in annoyance.
No time to finish the job.
Turning sharply, he sprinted toward the stairwell.
Taking the elevator was a death trap.
He’d rather take the stairs—it was safer.
If the cops had a team waiting for him downstairs?
He’d fight his way out.
Taking three steps at a time, Taotie practically flew down the staircase.
In no time, he reached the ground floor.
Just as he did, the elevator doors slid open.
Several more officers stormed out.
Taotie glanced at their waists—no guns.
No threat.
He didn’t even slow down.
Sprinting toward the hotel’s main entrance, he spotted a car waiting outside.
The passenger door was already open.
His secretary had the engine running, ready for a quick escape.
With a swift leap, Taotie jumped into the car and barked, “Drive! Now!”
Without hesitation, the secretary floored the gas pedal.
The car roared to life, speeding away.
