Chapter 32: A Little Scared
This time, not to mention Bai Cha, even the Ponytail girl felt a little disgusted.
But Bai Cha’s disgust was purely because the smell of the meat was a bit greasy.
Since she was little, she didn’t seem to have any particularly strong feelings towards corpses.
Whether it was seeing others slaughter chickens and fish when she was young, or later when she witnessed her father being run over by a car.
The people around her were worried that she would have some psychological trauma. During that time, her aunt even served her very green meals. But she didn’t.
The so-called plate of meat was placed on the table.
Bai Cha frowned slightly.
Hunger began to stir in her stomach.
“What’s in the kitchen?” Ponytail girl asked.
No matter how you looked at it, it didn’t seem like something that could be taken out safely.
Wang Xuming didn’t hide anything.
“There’s a moving corpse, looks quite a bit like Brother Cai. Probably the part he ate. I specifically checked when I came out, and a large chunk of the corpse in the dining room is missing.”
Ponytail girl’s expression immediately turned awful.
She had seen through the crack in the door how Brother Cai’s stomach had bulged from eating.
So, had he actually eaten himself?
Bai Cha felt even more strange about why Brother Cai had triggered the death condition. Was it because of the small statue on the table?
As they were talking, the yellow piece moved.
Xiao Xiao nervously threw the dice.
Three dots.
She breathed a sigh of relief.
Among the first six squares, only the third one was a safe blank square.
Her luck seemed pretty good.
At least unlike Wang Xuming, who rolled a one and had to do a task.
It was the Ponytail girl’s turn.
She threw the dice, four dots.
She needed to draw a task card.
On the other side, the front desk had already shuffled the cards and spread them out again.
Ponytail took a deep breath, her hand hovering over the cards. She hesitated for a moment, then finally closed her eyes and randomly drew one.
[Clubs 8.]
[Go to the bathroom in your own room, look in the mirror for ten minutes without looking away.]
Ponytail girl cursed on the spot.
Who didn’t know there was something in that bathroom?
And she had to look in the mirror for ten minutes without looking away.
Most importantly, they had gone up to the fourth floor. What would going up again mean now?
Ponytail girl was also very clear that if she didn’t do the task, the consequences would only be more severe. She could only bite the bullet, stand up, and walk towards the dark stairs.
Her departure didn’t necessarily mean that the remaining people had to wait there.
Bai Cha, feeling somewhat unbearable, grabbed the plate, threw the meat directly into the trash can, and covered the opening, placing it in the furthest corner of the doorway.
But the meaty smell still lingered in the room, although it was much better.
Wang Xuming was looking at her with a very strange expression.
He probably hadn’t expected her to do that.
“I’m scared,” Bai Cha explained perfunctorily.
Wang Xuming: “…”
[She said she’s scared? Didn’t she just use a piece of paper to separate it and then vigorously shove it into the trash can, right?]
[Suddenly feeling… maybe we really misjudged her.]
Wang Xuming cleared his throat softly.
“I didn’t see that thing in the kitchen just now. There was only an inhuman-shaped thing, probably Brother Cai, with about half his fighting power.”
He hadn’t said this when the Ponytail girl was there.
Bai Cha frowned slightly. The hunger in her stomach and the accompanying strange nausea made her feel unwell.
So with Ponytail girl gone, she wasn’t as invested in acting. Upon hearing this, she just nodded faintly.
Wang Xuming saw her touching her stomach. Actually, he also felt very hungry now, perhaps even more intensely than Bai Cha. After all, he had personally been in the kitchen.
“If you draw the kitchen task later, besides your own fighting power…” He paused for a moment before saying, “If you have no fighting power, then try your best to protect yourself. Maintaining willpower is the most important.”
Bai Cha: “…”
Yes, she was a weakling, she knew that.
If today’s game had been some kind of battle royale that required physical strength, she would have already died.
But who wouldn’t want to have a strong body?
Perhaps the displeasure on her face was quite obvious, and Wang Xuming chuckled softly.
“Our guild used to have a girl in the same situation as you. She had a terminal illness.”
Bai Cha wasn’t very interested in this topic and didn’t respond.
A trace of emotion flashed across Wang Xuming’s face.
“Fighting power is indeed a fatal weakness. No matter how hard you try in other aspects, it won’t help. She died before reaching A-grade.”
Bai Cha raised her eyelids slightly.
“Is that so?”
“That’s how the game is. It’s very cruel here. The weak only have a dead end. But your intelligence and temperament are good. If you find someone to guide you, you can cooperate very well.” Wang Xuming said earnestly.
Bai Cha chuckled softly.
“Perhaps.”
She used to argue with people about it. For example, all her new friends since childhood would be surprised at how she had lived to be so old.
She did resent, she did suffer, she did feel unwilling.
But she never felt that just because she was born with less luck than others, she should be inherently inferior!
Of course, she was weak right now, she admitted it. It wasn’t something she couldn’t acknowledge openly.
But she would find a way.
Ten minutes passed in the blink of an eye, and a loud crash came from the stairs.
Bai Cha looked over and saw Ponytail girl rolling all the way down from the top.
