I Become a God in the Mysterious World – CH216

[Blessed with Longevity] Li Xiang's Attack

Chapter 216: [Blessed with Longevity] Li Xiang’s Attack

Bai Cha kept her eyes closed, though she was incapable of falling asleep in truth.

Having to pretend to be asleep while maintaining a flat, supine posture over a prolonged period proved undeniably uncomfortable.

Lin Hong stopped by twice; on the first visit, a small amount of liquid remained in the IV bottle, while on the second visit, she removed the needle for her.

Come to think of it, given the level of thoughtful care provided by this nursing home, an IV port or indwelling needle ought to have been placed for such frequent transfusions by all rights.

Otherwise, constantly inserting and removing needles like this would leave her hands completely covered in puncture marks.

Yet they indeed refrained from placing an indwelling needle.

Supposedly, it was because many patients were emotionally unstable; should an indwelling needle be placed, what if they pulled the needle out to commit a foolish act?

The reasoning sounded sufficient.

In Bai Cha’s view, however, a far more likely reason was to conceal the pain caused by the Tai Sui taking root inside the body.

Bai Cha lay in bed for a while longer.

She suddenly sensed movement coming from Li Xiang’s adjacent bed.

To facilitate rest, the curtains inside the room were drawn tight, rendering the light somewhat dim and murky.

This nursing home possessed excellent soundproofing; after Lin Hong removed the needle, she pulled the door shut behind her. After all, surveillance cameras were mounted inside the room, allowing them to monitor the situation at any given moment.

Many psychiatric patients suffered from poor sleep quality, requiring a high-grade quiet environment.

Consequently, the entire room remained enveloped in absolute silence.

Yet right now, it felt even quieter than before.

The two forms of silence were distinctly different.

The former actually contained faint ambient sounds within the environment—such as birds chirping outside the window, the rustling of leaves, or the soft whistling of the wind.

Faint, subtle sounds of footsteps pacing through the hallway outside would leak in as well; it was simply that everything was maintained at a white noise level, incapable of disrupting a person’s sleep.

No matter how refined the soundproofing was, it couldn’t possibly reach the degree of silence present right now.

And amidst this deathly, suffocating atmosphere, rustling sounds echoed from Li Xiang’s side once more.

It sounded as though someone were feeling around for the blanket, then peeling it open bit by bit.

Was Li Xiang getting up?

Based on her memories, however, a typical afternoon nap usually lasted roughly two hours before waking up.

How much time had passed so far? Likely less than a single hour.

Li Xiang had fallen asleep earlier than her, yet it shouldn’t have reached this point.

While Bai Cha was listening intently, that sound vanished into thin air all of a sudden.

Immediately following that, an icy, bone-chilling aura enveloped her entire frame.

Oh, thank you very much—looks like it wasn’t Li Xiang.

It felt as though a figure was gradually leaning close to her face, staring down at her.

Bai Cha maintained a steady, even breathing pattern from start to finish, remaining completely motionless.

Every now and then, however, her brows would knit slightly, as if trapped in a nightmare.

That entity stared down at her for a brief while before Bai Cha felt the bone-chilling aura recede into the distance.

She refrained from lowering her guard regardless.

A moment later, that same icy, chilling aura returned as expected.

This time, it hovered virtually flush against her face; Bai Cha could even catch a whiff of a subtle odor.

A faint… hard-to-describe, slightly earthy, fishy stench.

The other party fixated a stare on her for a long, long time before finally taking its leave.

Over on Li Xiang’s end, she awoke.

She unleashed a blood-curdling shriek.

“Go away! Go away!!”

“Don’t kill me! Don’t kill me! Spare me, please…”

Bai Cha pretended to be jolted awake by the noise, attempting to snap her eyes open, only to let her eyelids flutter closed several times out of deep fatigue; repeating this motion back and forth, she barely managed to sit up in bed with narrowed, dazed eyes.

Footsteps already echoed outside the door, and nurses burst inside in an instant.

Several male nurses pinned down the wildly struggling Li Xiang straight away.

Li Xiang shrieked with frantic desperation.

Bai Cha caught sight of a human figure standing beside her.

It ought to be that ghost from moments ago.

Covered in mud as if it had crawled out from a pile of dirt, it held a sharp knife in its hand, plunging the blade straight into Li Xiang repeatedly.

Stab after stab—and Li Xiang’s blood-curdling shrieks were sparked precisely by this.

The knife appeared to inflict zero physical wounds on Li Xiang’s body, yet as his blade plunged down, Li Xiang set about twitching violently, her eyes rolling upward while foam spewed from her mouth.

On the surface, it closely resembled an epileptic seizure; Li Xiang indeed suffered from epilepsy as well, in truth.

Only this seizure was clearly far from a medical issue.

Doctors rushed inside shortly after, launching into medical emergency care.

Typically, as long as doctors initiated emergency procedures, Li Xiang would calm down after a short while and sink into a deep slumber.

Today, however, Li Xiang—who had originally been settling down gradually—began struggling violently once more, her breathing turning labored as signs of suffocation surfaced.

Bai Cha could see clearly that it was because the man had abruptly scrambled onto the hospital bed, switching to strangling her neck with both hands instead.

His face was contorted into a hideous sneer, applying continuous, merciless pressure.

Seeing the situation turn dire, the doctors hurriedly ordered personnel to wheel her to the emergency room for resuscitation; yet that man remained atop the hospital bed—unless the entity were driven away, emergency resuscitation would yield zero result.

Because the harm was actively continuing.

Bai Cha stood up, putting on a front as though attempting to help out.

As the hospital bed was pushed past, a nurse barked a rebuke at her, telling her not to get in the way.

Watching the bed brush past her side, Bai Cha suddenly pretended to be shoved by someone, tumbling toward the floor while her hand reached out instinctively into thin air—grabbing straight at that man.

Being touched by someone, the man whipped his head around instantly to glare at Bai Cha.

Bai Cha was already sitting on the floor; throughout this process, the hospital bed was being pushed outward, leaving no one to pay mind to Bai Cha.

Sitting up with great difficulty, she turned her eyes toward the doorway, locking gazes with that man.

A vicious, murderous glint flashed through the man’s eyes in an instant; stepping off the hospital bed, he strode toward her.

Quite clearly, he had confirmed that Bai Cha could see him.

Yet Bai Cha had already retracted her gaze with total, seamless naturalness, climbing back onto the bed.

The man’s footsteps faltered, staring at her with deep suspicion.

He approached step by step until he stood directly before Bai Cha, raising the sharp knife in his hand high.

Bai Cha kept her gaze fixed toward the direction of the doorway all along, looking as though she were deeply worried about Li Xiang.

Because her sleep had been interrupted, she let out a soft yawn as well.

Over on the other side, He Yan had awakened as well, maintaining her same vacant, dazed posture, turning a completely deaf ear to everything taking place around her.

The sharp knife glinted with a cold sheen, thrusting straight toward Bai Cha’s arm.

Bai Cha abruptly turned her body to the side, raising her hand to pick up the rose resting on the table, dodging the incoming blade in the process.

With a calculating glint in his eyes, the man raised his knife once more.

As if suddenly recalling something, Bai Cha flipped open her blanket, slipped on her slippers, and walked straight out of the room.

Yet that man continued tailing behind her regardless.

Until she reached the doctor’s office.

Bai Cha pushed the door open and stepped inside; turning around to shut the door, she caught the man’s venomous yet wary gaze.

It appeared the entity held considerable dread toward Qin Fa.

No telling what the underlying reason for entangling Li Xiang was, however.

“Li Yun, why did you come over?”

Holding the rose in her hand, Bai Cha swept her gaze across Qin Fa’s desk; failing to spot the pink rose she had given him this morning, a fleeting flicker of disappointment surfaced deep in her eyes.

Before long, however, she perked her spirits back up, pulling out a chair to sit across from Qin Fa, unable to resist letting out another soft yawn.

She looked every bit like someone who hadn’t slept well.

“I have something I wanted to ask you about, Doctor Qin. Do you know that Li Xiang was just rushed away to the emergency room?”

Even her speech sounded half a beat slow.

Qin Fa retracted his calculating gaze.

“Mm, I heard the noise just now and went over to take a look. Regrettably, I’m not specialized in that domain; I can only offer psychological treatment for you all, leaving medical emergencies to the other doctors. What did you wish to ask?”

He appeared exceptionally patient—even though Bai Cha hadn’t knocked on the door prior to stepping inside, he displayed zero displeasure whatsoever.
