I Am a Landlady in the Apocalypse – CH196

Victory

Chapter 196: Victory

“Brother Yong, I think there’s something fishy about this! If Lian Sha wanted to come back, she could have done it herself. Why would she ask you to pick her up?!” Qu Jingwen exclaimed anxiously.

Other senior members of the Old Station also voiced their agreement, opposing the idea of picking up Lian Sha.

Tan Yong, who hadn’t seen Lian Sha in a long time, was restless.

“Prepare the car!”

Qu Jingwen immediately wrapped her arms around his waist.

“Brother Yong! I’m begging you, please think rationally! This is obviously a trap! If you go, there’s no way this ends well for you!”

Tan Yong shoved her away in disgust.

“Qu Jingwen, I’ve put up with you for long enough. You’re just jealous of Sha Sha and don’t want me to bring her back! Even if this is a trap, then that only means Sha Sha is in danger, and I have even more reason to go save her! Get out of my way!!”

Qu Jingwen was thrown aside and hadn’t even gotten up before she shouted to the others,

“What are you all waiting for?! Stop him!”

Tan Yong smirked coldly. “Anyone who comes with me today, I’ll cover all their crystal cores if they ever get a chance to evolve their powers in the future!”

This offer caused an uproar.

The temptation was too great, and nearly every ability user from the Old Station was ready to follow him.

Lei Xing circled the area once before saying to Su Tao,

“You can’t stay here. I don’t think Tan Yong will come alone, and when he does, there’s bound to be a battle. Have Liang Ce drive you up that hill over there.”

Su Tao asked, “Are you guys completely sure you’ll win?”

Lei Xing grinned, revealing sharp canine teeth. “Of course. If I can’t even handle something this small, I’d be embarrassed. Now go, Tan Yong will definitely be delivered to you alive.”

Though Su Tao was slightly uneasy, she left Liang Ce with them and drove up the hill with Lin Fangzhi, Xuedao, Xiong Tai, and Lian Sha.

When they reached the hill, Su Tao realized she couldn’t see Lei Xing and the others at all.

She wanted to move the car to get a better vantage point—not to participate in the fight, but at least to watch it.

But before she could act, Lei Xing messaged her:

“Don’t move. If you can’t see us, then Tan Yong and his men won’t be able to see you either. That way, you’re safe, and I can relax.”

Su Tao had no choice but to stay put.

Just then, Xiong Tai shuddered and said,

“Boss Su, maybe we should drive even farther away. If Captain Lei loses, Tan Yong will definitely search the area, and if they capture us…”

Su Tao glanced at him and said ominously, “If we lose, I’ll make sure we all die before they catch us. You don’t have to worry about being captured.”

Xiong Tai’s blood ran cold.

He looked around for allies, but Lin Fangzhi was calmly opening a water bottle for Su Tao, as if nothing was wrong.

The old black dog was snoring lazily nearby.

The only other person left was the captive witch…

Xiong Tai wanted to cry.

Before he could say anything else, gunfire erupted from the battlefield below.

Su Tao immediately stood up, wanting to move forward to see, but she didn’t want to disrupt Lei Xing’s team.

The battle dragged on for nearly half an hour. Su Tao was starting to worry.

Was Lei Xing bluffing earlier? Did they rush in without a sure plan?

Or did the Old Station have some unknown trump card?

The possibilities were endless, and she couldn’t help but overthink.

Xiong Tai’s face turned pale.

“I told you! Captain Lei doesn’t stand a chance. Tan Yong has been ruling the Old Station for over ten years, surrounded by powerful subordinates. If he were that easy to capture, someone else would’ve overthrown him long ago.”

Su Tao found some truth in his words. Her expression darkened.

After a moment, she grabbed Lian Sha by the back of the neck, pressing a gun to her and demanding,

“Does Tan Yong have any hidden tricks up his sleeve? If you don’t talk, I’ll drag you out in front of him, force him to stop fighting, and then kill you right there.”

Lian Sha believed Tan Yong had a high chance of winning, so she didn’t bother hiding her hatred anymore.

Xiong Tai saw the murderous look in her eyes and gasped. “It’s over, Boss Su! She’s marked you as an enemy!”

Su Tao ignored him. She tossed a communicator in front of Lian Sha and freed one of her hands.

“Type it out.”

But instead of typing, Lian Sha clawed at Su Tao’s face.

Su Tao reacted too slowly, and her chin was scratched, leaving a shallow bloody mark.

Seeing this, Lin Fangzhi immediately kicked Lian Sha in the face, knocking her down. Not satisfied, he grabbed her by the hair and slammed her head against the rocky ground.

The ground was littered with sharp stones, and within moments, Lian Sha’s once-beautiful face was covered in bloody scratches.

Su Tao didn’t stop him. Only when she felt it was enough did she have Xiong Tai restrain her again.

She was about to drive down the hill when two deafening explosions suddenly rang out, and the battlefield below fell into silence.

It was over!

Su Tao wasn’t sure which side had won. She rushed to the edge of the hill to look down.

Below, the battlefield was engulfed in flames, painting the sky a deep crimson.

The next second, three battered motorcycles burst through the fire.

Then, a sleek golden leopard leaped out of the inferno, carrying an unconscious person in its jaws before landing gracefully on top of a car and speeding away.

Su Tao hurried down the hill with her group.

When they reached the battlefield, they saw Lei Xing’s team jumping off their vehicles, shouting excitedly about their victory and spoils, looking every bit like triumphant warriors.

Su Tao finally let out a sigh of relief.

Lei Xing’s short golden hair was half burned, but it didn’t stop him from tossing an unconscious Tan Yong at Su Tao’s feet, proudly demanding,

“Praise me.”

Su Tao laughed. “You’re amazing, big hero.”

Lei Xing suddenly felt that today’s risk had been worth it. He threw Tan Yong on the ground and said, “He’s all yours. They sent a lot of people this time, but we only managed to kill a couple. Most of them used the fire as cover to escape.”

Fire Serpent cursed, “Tan Yong is insane. Bringing that many men just for a woman? If we hadn’t prepared in advance, soaked the entire area in fuel, and gotten Liang Ce’s help, this could’ve gone south.”

Lei Xing shot him a glare.

Fire Serpent shut up instantly.

Alright, alright—so they weren’t supposed to let Boss Su know how risky it had been.

Su Tao inspected each of them carefully. Seeing they were all in one piece, she felt relieved but still asked,

“Is anyone hurt?”

The team’s “treasurer,” Big Mouth, spoke up first.

“No one’s hurt, but our cars… they’re done for.”

He lightly kicked one of the vehicles, and several loose parts clattered to the ground.

Su Tao said, “I’ll cover it. I’ll replace them all with new ones! Now clean up and head back. Get Dr. Zhong to check you all over once we’re home.”

Lei Xing nudged the unconscious Tan Yong.

“You should just kill him now. The longer we keep him, the more trouble he’ll bring.”

Hearing this, Lian Sha frantically struggled.

Tan Yong was her last hope! He couldn’t die!

Lei Xing then noticed the scratch on Su Tao’s chin and frowned.

“What happened to your face?”

Xiong Tai pointed at Lian Sha. “That witch did it!”

Lei Xing clicked his tongue in annoyance, grabbed a gun from Fire Serpent, and without hesitation, shot Lian Sha in the head.

Blood splattered everywhere.

It happened so fast that no one had time to react.
