Chapter 31: What Type Do You Like?
Chen Qianxi nodded to herself, firming up her resolve.
She was going to be the very first fan of the Nianshen–Yuejiu CP. Not just a fan—she was going to be their No.1 superfan!
With that thought, Chen Qianxi carefully took out her phone, switched off the flash, and secretly snapped a photo of the two’s backs.
Once she had her picture, she quietly moved to sit somewhere else, not disturbing them. In fact, she didn’t just keep herself from disturbing them—she even stopped others from doing so. Anyone who tried to sit near them got dragged over to sit by her instead.
Others: “??? What? Is there something wrong with those seats?”
Chen Qianxi, dead serious: “No, it’s just… if you sit there, it’ll block the view.”
Others: “What about those two then?”
Chen Qianxi: “Them? They’re not blocking anyone’s view. They’re sitting just right.”
Others: “…If you say so.”
After the performance ended, Lin Yuejiu and Xu Nianshen stood up, only to notice a lot of people sitting in the back rows, all staring at them with what seemed like… vaguely resentful expressions.
Lin Yuejiu stopped in her tracks, puzzled. “Why are you all sitting back here? There were plenty of seats in front.”
Others: “…”
What were they supposed to say to that?
Chen Qianxi quickly answered, “So many people sitting in the front would have blocked the view.”
Lin Yuejiu didn’t think much of it.
Chen Qianxi cheerfully grabbed her hand. “Come on, let’s go to the next place.”
Her inner thoughts: Trying to interrupt my CP moment? No way! I’m not giving you people the chance.
After they’d more or less finished with the aquarium, the principal said, “Everyone, gather outside—we’re going to the next location!”
The group exchanged glances, their tone filled with disbelief. “There’s a next place?!”
The principal chuckled. “What, you thought that was all I had planned?”
Someone couldn’t help voicing suspicion. “We’re not going to a museum next, are we?”
“No way… if it’s a museum, I’d rather stay at school and do worksheets.”
The principal snorted coldly at the murmurs. “Do I seem like such a boring person to you?”
Everyone looked down and mumbled, “Of course not.”
Well… he kinda does look like it.
The group boarded the bus in an orderly fashion. Chen Qianxi sat with Lin Yuejiu, thought for a moment, and then asked, “Yuejiu, let me ask you something—you have to answer honestly.”
Lin Yuejiu nodded. “Okay.”
“What… kind of boys do you like?”
Lin Yuejiu made a questioning sound, tilting her head toward her. “Why are you suddenly asking this?”
Chen Qianxi gestured vaguely. “I just overheard some people talking about it earlier, so I got curious.”
“Ah… what kind I like…” Lin Yuejiu frowned slightly. “I’ve never really thought about it.”
“Well, think about it now.”
Lin Yuejiu fell into thought.
Seeing her thinking, Chen Qianxi probed carefully, “Do you like the cold, aloof type?”
“The cold, aloof type?”
“Like… you know, kind of like Study-God Xu.”
“I can accept it.”
Which meant—she could accept it, but wasn’t saying she liked it.
“Oh, I see. So have you figured out what type you do like?”
“Mm…” Lin Yuejiu looked troubled. “I feel like… talking about types now doesn’t really matter. When you actually meet someone you like, all those ‘types’ won’t mean much anymore.”
Chen Qianxi clicked her tongue. “True enough.”
“What about you?”
“What?” Chen Qianxi was momentarily caught off guard.
“You asked me what kind of boys I like?”
“I honestly don’t know either.”
Lin Yuejiu gave a small smile.
When they arrived at their destination, the principal told everyone to get off the bus.
The moment they stepped down and saw the mountain before them, everyone froze.
We’re… climbing a mountain?
Someone boldly asked, “Principal, are we all supposed to climb up together? But we didn’t bring any hiking gear.”
The principal shook his head. “You won’t need that. Just head up—you’ll like it.”
Though still doubtful, no one said anything else. They obediently started the climb. The mountain wasn’t very tall, and soon they reached a flat area.
In front of them was a vast stretch of lush green grass. A light breeze swept across it, making the blades sway gently. The air was fresh, the sky was blue with fluffy clouds—a truly beautiful sight.
The principal grinned at everyone. “Alright, alright, let’s get everything out. We’re having a picnic cookout!”
Cheers erupted.
“Woo! Long live outdoor cooking!”
“Long live the principal!”
The boys went to carry the cooking equipment, while the girls laid out picnic blankets and began preparing ingredients.
Lin Yuejiu helped with the setup, chatting and laughing along with the others.
Soon, everything was ready. Everyone sat together in a relaxed circle, the homeroom teacher and principal joining in on the conversation. A few bold students even started making jokes about them right to their faces. The homeroom teacher and principal exchanged a look, smiling and shaking their heads.
Meanwhile, Lin Rumeng and Lan Qingqing sat together, having barely spoken the entire trip.
Lan Qingqing glanced at Lin Yuejiu, who was slowly eating her barbecue. Something flickered in her eyes. She raised her hand. “Teacher.”
The homeroom teacher looked over. “What is it, Lan Qingqing?”
“Teacher, just eating like this is a bit boring. I have a suggestion.”
“Oh? Let’s hear it.”
“Our class has so many talented people, right? Why not have them perform something? That would make things more fun.”
The homeroom teacher looked toward the principal for his opinion. The principal nodded.
“Alright, we’ll go with Lan Qingqing’s suggestion. But we can’t just make people perform out of nowhere—let’s play a game. Whoever loses will have to perform. If they refuse, they can choose between Truth or Dare instead.”
“Sounds good.”
No one objected.
“Alright, then let’s decide on a game. Any ideas?”
Lan Qingqing raised her hand again. “Let’s play something simple—dice rolling. Whoever rolls a six will have to perform. If they don’t, they’ll have to pick Truth or Dare.”
“I’m fine with that.”
“Same here.”
The class monitor checked with everyone, even asking Xu Nianshen, “Study-God Xu, you in?”
Xu Nianshen gave a soft “Mm.”
“Alright, everyone’s in. Let’s start. Who has dice?”
“I do.” Lan Qingqing pulled one out. “I’ll go first.”
She released the dice. It spun slowly before stopping on a four.
“Next.”
Lin Rumeng picked it up and tossed it. It stopped on a three.
One by one, everyone took turns. Finally, it was Lin Yuejiu’s turn. She accepted the dice with a polite “thanks” and threw it—landing squarely on a six.
“Wooo!” The crowd whooped.
Lan Qingqing smiled at her. “So, are you going to perform, or choose between Truth and Dare?”
“Truth.”
“Alright, I’ll think of the question…” Lan Qingqing paused in thought, then asked, “After leaving the Lin family, have you ever regretted it?”
The entire circle fell silent.
The principal and homeroom teacher exchanged a look and were just about to intervene when Lin Yuejiu answered, “No.”
Lin Rumeng quickly spoke up, “Sister, but didn’t you come back home when it was Grandpa’s birthday?”
