Chapter 84: Mission Complete? The Plan Begins
Su Ning listened to Dex’s words and felt a chill rise up her spine, as if she had fallen into an icy abyss. She looked at the so-called collection room before her—it was like a hell on earth.
Countless beautiful girls were being soaked in various tubes and vats. Their bodies were being used for experiments, and Su Ning even saw many with no faces.
Where had their faces gone?
Dex spoke casually, “With your looks, if you kept mining, I’m sure it wouldn’t be long before you ended up in a jar like one of these.”
As he spoke, he walked over to one of the vats and pointed at a particular woman inside. “This one used to be a famous beauty in the mining district—Natasha. Everyone wanted her affection. But now, her face is on our boss.”
Su Ning felt a wave of cold wash over her. She finally understood just how cruel and ruthless Fei Wenli was.
She recalled the Scavenger’s Eye mentioning how Fei Wenli would go to any lengths for beauty. Now Su Ning was deeply shocked.
Su Ning had always been confident in her appearance. While she wouldn’t claim to be a world-shaking beauty, she was undeniably attractive.
But now, she realized her current situation was far from safe—this was like bargaining with a tiger.
She sighed inwardly: “I thought I could sneak into the colonial company using my identity as a chef, but I didn’t expect to meet someone this dangerous.”
Along the way, Dex continued introducing Fei Wenli’s background to Su Ning.
Su Ning let out a helpless sigh and replied, “Seems like I’m lucky after all to have directly become one of you. As long as I do my job well and don’t provoke Miss Fei Wenli, there shouldn’t be any trouble.”
But Dex only gave her a meaningful smile and said nothing more.
Soon, Su Ning received her new identity—a regular employee card for the colonial company.
With this card, she no longer needed to go down into the mines.
She was overjoyed.
Just then, a system prompt suddenly rang in her ears:
[Ding! Hidden mission triggered: Become an interstellar colonial company employee. Mining mission marked as complete.]
[Ding! Player Su Ning has met the return condition. Return now?]
Su Ning was stunned. She hadn’t expected the mining mission to be completed in such an unexpected way.
“Who would’ve thought—just shedding the miner identity would automatically fulfill the four-year mining task?”
She quickly adjusted her expression to look less surprised.
However, she didn’t choose to return immediately.
“This copy has some incredible tech. How could I leave just yet?”
She definitely wanted to take something valuable with her.
And now, with her new company employee status, it would be even easier to get what she wanted.
After helping Su Ning get her ID, Dex handed her a bracelet and reminded her, “This is a communicator. Company announcements will come through this. If the young miss has any instructions, she’ll contact you through it.”
Su Ning put it away and followed Dex, ready to leave. But just as they were about to exit, she noticed there seemed to be a deeper level beneath the underground lab.
If the first level was already this cruel and twisted, what kind of horrors lay even deeper?
“Clearly, there are still many secrets waiting to be uncovered here.”
But Su Ning was just a chef. Her access level didn’t allow her to go any deeper. Even being on the first level now was only possible thanks to Dex.
Su Ning squinted her eyes. “From what Dex said, even though I’m now an employee, it doesn’t mean I’m safe.”
So who could pose a threat to her? The answer was obvious—only Fei Wenli had that power. That woman’s moods were unpredictable. Being near her was dangerous.
“Thankfully, I can leave this instance at any time. I’ve earned a little leeway. Now, I just need to use this identity to gather as many useful resources as possible in this world.”
But Su Ning didn’t expect her plans to be disrupted so soon.
Dex suddenly received a message. After reading it, his face darkened.
“What? That bastard Kokoro actually came back?!”
Dex’s rage was obvious. The mere mention of Kokoro—the one who had almost gotten him killed—filled him with fury.
“Hmph! Even if he’s back, the young miss definitely won’t let him off. He still dreams of working here? He can prepare to become food for the venomous python.” Dex growled.
Then he turned to Su Ning and said, “Come on, I’ll take you to see a good show.”
Azemar watched everyone’s reactions and felt a twinge of confusion. According to the intel from Andy, Kokoro was supposed to be a highly favored personal chef of Fei Wenli’s. But now, everyone looked like they were waiting to watch a train wreck.
At that moment, Fei Wenli sat lazily on her little pet, eyes half-closed, staring intently at Azemar—now disguised as Kokoro.
As if she could see through any disguise.
“Kokoro,” Fei Wenli said coldly, “You’ve been with me long enough. You should know the one thing I hate most is disobedience.”
Her voice was icy, sending a chill down Azemar’s spine.
Azemar immediately bowed his head and said respectfully, “Miss, I know I was wrong. Please give me another chance.”
His tone was full of remorse, clearly hoping for her forgiveness.
But Fei Wenli just waved her hand casually. “It doesn’t matter. I’ve already found a new chef to replace you. So your mistake no longer concerns me.”
Azemar froze, his expression one of disbelief. He never expected the role he had assumed could be replaced so easily.
Meanwhile, on the other side, Zhang Tao was still using his [Whisper] ability to keep contact with Azemar and livestream the situation.
Andy grew anxious when she heard Fei Wenli’s words. “Not good. The situation’s changed. Fei Wenli is always ruthless. Once someone loses their value, she won’t hesitate to get rid of them.”
Andy said, “Tell Azemar to act now—use the weapon I gave him and take her out. We’ll begin our part of the operation as well.”
Upon receiving the message, Azemar’s pitiful demeanor shifted instantly.
Before anyone could react, he pulled out a Disintegrator Gun from his hidden compartment and aimed it directly at Fei Wenli.
Yet, Fei Wenli didn’t even flinch.
She spoke lightly: “Done pretending?”
