Chapter 41: A Gifted Zombie Acknowledges Its Master, Departure!
Although Li Lian was burning with rage inside, wishing he could tear Su Ning to pieces, reality cruelly crushed him.
The paralyzing venom of the Emerald Bees had rendered his entire body immobile—he couldn’t move at all.
Worse still, the zombified Emerald Bees were continuously injecting deadly zombie viruses into their bodies. Their lives were on a countdown. Yet, Su Ning gave them no chance to fight back. She walked straight toward Li Lian—the one she deemed the greatest threat.
At this point, while Li Lian’s body was paralyzed, he could still speak.
Seeing Su Ning approach, he panicked and shouted, “What are you going to do?” At last, Li Lian realized he was completely at a disadvantage—his life and death were entirely in Su Ning’s hands.
He knew he no longer had a say in anything. If he wanted to live, he had to plead.
So he lowered himself and begged, “Please spare me. I know I was wrong—really. I’ll never dare to go against you again. If you let me live, I’m willing to make you my queen!”
Su Ning silently stared at the man begging for her forgiveness.
She knew full well that Li Lian wasn’t truly repentant. He was only groveling because he feared death.
If he didn’t quickly beg for mercy, he might lose his life. Only a fool would believe he truly meant it.
Would Su Ning give him a chance? Absolutely not.
Su Ning was never the merciful type—especially toward people who dared to lust after her. She wouldn’t let anyone who targeted her off the hook.
She raised her fingers, a cold glint flashing in her eyes. Under Li Lian’s terrified gaze, her fingertips turned black, and her fingernails suddenly extended like sharp daggers.
Without hesitation, Su Ning stabbed straight at Li Lian’s neck. He only had time to let out a cry of pain before a cold sensation washed over him.
Su Ning quickly activated the zombie virus devouring and fusion ability, injecting even more of the virus into Li Lian’s body.
In disbelief, Zhang Huaiyuan and his gang watched Li Lian’s skin gradually turn a pale gray, his pupils changing, emitting an eerie glow.
Li Lian began growling lowly from time to time, as if he’d lost his sanity and was struggling madly.
“How is this possible! What kind of monster are you?” Zhang Huaiyuan stared at Su Ning in horror, filled with fear and doubt.
He had thought he had Su Ning completely under control, but now he realized she had hidden such terrifying power.
Thinking of this, Zhang Huaiyuan couldn’t help but regret provoking someone so dangerous.
Finally, Li Lian was fully turned into a zombie.
But unlike ordinary zombies, he exuded a chillingly powerful aura.
[Gifted Zombie]: A zombie transformed by a player-injected virus, possessing the talent [Bullet Storm]. A terrifying entity not to be underestimated. Note: Due to Su Ning’s virus control, this zombie automatically recognizes Su Ning as its master!
Seeing the data, Su Ning curled her lips into a smile.
“Just as I thought. Any zombie I personally transform with my virus becomes mine to control.”
Su Ning then turned her gaze to the other four people.
Suddenly, they all felt a chill run through them.
“No, please spare me!”
“I have a wife and kids at home!”
Zhang Huaiyuan, horrified, tried to speak, but Su Ning wasn’t going to give him that chance.
One by one, she turned them all into zombies.
Su Ning discovered an important detail: she could only control zombies she personally transformed. Fully-formed external zombies were beyond her control.
Still, Su Ning was very satisfied. Five gifted zombies with various talents—free labor. What more could she want?
After checking the talents of Li Lian and Zhang Huaiyuan, Su Ning also saw the other three’s abilities:
[Digging], [Weaving], and [Cooking]—all supportive skills.
With these people dealt with, Su Ning now had time to collect resources from the underground base.
A joyful packing spree ensued.
Weapons and food all went into her scavenger backpack. There were still many unopened containers—Su Ning wanted to enjoy the excitement of “unboxing” them back home, so she just packed them for later.
After tidying up, Su Ning ordered the Perception Zombie to scan the surroundings. This was Zhang Huaiyuan, now a zombie with the perception ability.
With a low growl, the Perception Zombie linked minds with Su Ning. The area’s layout flashed in her mind.
“Hmm? Five people have been watching near the base this whole time? Trying to be the mantis stalking the cicada, unaware of the oriole behind?”
Among the five, Su Ning spotted Gu Cheng’an.
She knew his talent well—an elemental ability with high damage potential.
Looking at the thoroughly cleaned-out underground base, Su Ning realized she couldn’t just walk out blatantly. The empty storeroom would raise questions.
If someone had looted the place, how could nothing be left behind?
“Good thing I’ve got a zombie who can dig.”
Su Ning commanded the digging zombie to start tunneling. With guidance from the Perception Zombie, she soon left the area.
One hour after Su Ning’s departure—
Outside the base, Gu Cheng’an and his crew were still anxiously waiting.
Ma Feng said impatiently, “Boss, could they have all died in there? Why haven’t they come out yet?”
Gu Cheng’an had the same doubt. Even if there were tons of good loot inside, they should’ve come out by now.
Still, Gu Cheng’an had seen Li Lian’s abilities in action and didn’t think he’d die so easily.
It was precisely because of Li Lian’s power that Gu Cheng’an had the team wait, not daring to act rashly.
An Ruoru was also tired. Looking at the whitening sky, she said, “Ma Feng might be right. We haven’t heard a single sound—could they really all be dead? Is there something even scarier than zombies in there? Something that wiped them out in one go?”
“Not impossible.”
When being chased by a zombie horde earlier, they had encountered a particularly formidable zombie—stronger and harder to kill than the average one.
Thinking of this, Gu Cheng’an hesitated.
Ma Feng, seeing Gu Cheng’an’s concern, offered, “Boss, how about I go check it out? You know my ability—it’s good enough to protect myself.”
After thinking it through, Gu Cheng’an said, “Let’s all go together.”
A team should stick together.
Gu Cheng’an’s group cautiously entered the base. Outside, thanks to Li Lian’s earlier sweep, only a few scattered zombies remained—easily dealt with.
But upon cautiously descending into the underground facility, they found it completely empty.
Ma Feng was stunned. “How is this possible?!”
