Chapter 34: Corpse Hell, Planting Space!
The dungeon began once more!
Su Ning took a deep breath, adjusted her state, and prepared to face the new challenge.
The next second, her figure vanished in an instant and entered the dungeon world.
[Ding! Dungeon – Corpse Hell – has officially begun!]
[Ding! The player must survive for one week in this dungeon to return safely.]
[Ding! This is a competitive kill dungeon. Complete the system’s kill missions to earn system rewards!]
After hearing the system notification, Su Ning appeared in the middle of a dense forest.
The sky was a dark grayish-black, heavy with clouds, as if a massive storm was about to burst forth at any moment.
Su Ning furrowed her brows, wondering why this survival dungeon was called “Corpse Hell.”
However, before she could think further, a bone-chilling chewing sound suddenly reached her ears.
Startled, Su Ning immediately became alert.
She cautiously stepped out of the woods and arrived at a nearby road.
When she saw the source of the sound, her eyes widened in disbelief.
Su Ning’s face turned pale as she stared at the horrifying scene before her, nausea churning in her gut.
A man, covered in blood, was frantically gnawing at a woman lying lifeless on the ground. Her abdomen had been torn open, and her organs brutally ripped out. The man was shoving them into his mouth like he was enjoying a delicacy.
Su Ning felt a strong wave of nausea rising but knew she couldn’t make a sound, or she’d attract the attention of the monster. She quickly covered her mouth and nose, trying hard to suppress her trembling.
Keeping a close eye on the monster, Su Ning activated her Scavenger’s Eye skill to learn more about the creature in front of her.
Soon, a string of text appeared in her vision:
[Normal Zombie]: A human who died and mutated due to the zombie virus. Possesses average attack strength but carries the zombie virus. Prefers blood-based food. Weakness: Head.
Seeing this, Su Ning’s heart sank with a growing sense of dread.
She realized that this world might already be infected by a terrifying virus — the very thing turning humans into zombies.
Su Ning recalled the apocalyptic films and novels she had seen, where society crumbled after viral outbreaks. The scenes of chaos sent a chill down her spine.
She knew that unless she could find a safe place and avoid these zombies, she would likely become their next prey.
Even though she had a self-healing talent, Su Ning wasn’t sure if it could fend off the zombie virus.
After all, she had no idea how powerful the virus was.
Amid this tension, Su Ning decided to stay calm and look for a way to escape.
She carefully surveyed her surroundings, searching for an exit or a hiding spot, while also thinking about how to deal with other zombies and protect herself from infection.
In this crisis-ridden world, every step had to be cautious — one misstep could cost her life.
Su Ning silently mused, “A zombie-filled dungeon… Looks like resources in the next seven days will be scarce. I need to hide very carefully.”
Unless she encountered something she really wanted — like a treasure chest — she wouldn’t take any risks.
Based on the information from Scavenger’s Eye, these zombies appeared to come in many types. Otherwise, the system wouldn’t specifically label this one “Normal Zombie.”
Su Ning pulled out her Blackrock Bow, drew the string, and aimed at the zombie’s head.
Whoosh! The arrow flew like lightning.
The zombie seemed to notice something amiss and turned its head. Its blood-covered, terrifying face appeared before Su Ning — it tried to attack, but it was too late. The arrow pierced straight through its skull.
Su Ning executed a perfect kill with ease.
Just as she was about to retrieve her arrow and leave quickly, a system notification suddenly rang in her ears:
[Ding! Congratulations, player has successfully killed the mission target. Current kill count: 1!]
Su Ning was momentarily stunned, but she didn’t stop to check the message. Instead, she retrieved her arrow and left the area immediately.
She was afraid there were more zombies nearby. Even with her Perfect-Aim skill, she couldn’t fight too many at once.
While searching for a place to hide, Su Ning realized that this Corpse Hell dungeon was similar to the Virus Town one — zombies had likely been present for a long time, and the world had descended into a full-blown apocalypse.
She found a house, checked for zombies inside, and only relaxed once she confirmed it was empty.
She barricaded the door and went upstairs to observe the surroundings.
Thunder rolled outside, and rain began to fall.
“Rain… I wonder if this rainwater is usable?”
But right now, Su Ning’s focus was on the system notification.
“Why did the system broadcast a message when I killed the zombie? And why is there a kill count?”
Su Ning was puzzled.
After checking the system, she understood the reason.
This dungeon was a competitive kill dungeon.
Aside from surviving seven days, there were many kill missions.
Now, Su Ning had a mandatory task to complete:
[Dungeon Mission – Survive Seven Days in Corpse Hell]
Only by completing this could she return.
But competitive kill dungeons weren’t limited to just survival.
Su Ning saw many other missions on the system panel.
More missions meant more rewards.
All the missions involved killing zombies.
“The rewards are pretty good… skills, titles, weapons — there are even treasure chests. Wait… what’s this reward?”
Su Ning noticed that different zombie kill counts granted different rewards.
And then she saw a reward she had longed for:
“A planting space!”
[Mission: Kill 100,000 zombies. Reward: Small Planting Space]
Su Ning’s heart nearly leaped out of her chest when she saw it.
She wasn’t the only one. Other players who had entered Corpse Hell at the same time also went wild after seeing this reward.
Global Chat Channel:
[I was scared of zombies at first, but now after seeing the rewards? These aren’t monsters — they’re contribution points!]
[A spatial space! This isn’t a dream, right? If I had space, I’d never go hungry again or worry about people stealing my food.]
[OMG, a legendary spirit spring space — I want it so bad!]
[Forget the planting space, even the other rewards make me jealous. I’m off to kill zombies now.]
[You guys are way too optimistic. I struggled to kill just one zombie and nearly got injured. They want me to kill 100,000 zombies in seven days? Are you kidding? That’s pure fantasy.]
Seeing the discussions in the global chat, Su Ning also realized a problem.
Even if she desperately wanted the planting space, could she really kill 100,000 zombies in just seven days?
It did feel like a pipe dream.
“But… I can’t give up. I have to try.”
At first, Su Ning planned to lie low, but after seeing the planting space reward, she was fired up.
