Chapter 20: Title and Talent Upgrade
Su Ning silently pondered the Insect Refining Pot she had just obtained from the treasure chest. With this item, she could refine and use various insects as her own.
Now, after hearing the administrator’s introduction of the Emerald Bee, she understood that not only was this insect powerful, but the honey it produced also had a miraculous effect of restoring energy—truly a creature of great value.
Without hesitation, Su Ning firmly declared to the administrator, “I choose the Emerald Bee!”
The administrator smiled and replied, “Very well. From now on, the Emerald Bees in the advanced zone will be under your care. I hope that under your meticulous care, they can grow strong and healthy like the Meaty Chickens—round and plump.”
Su Ning felt a little awkward but forced a smile, “I’ll do my best!”
Just as she was about to leave, an unexpected figure appeared before her—Fu Qingge!
Both were momentarily stunned. However, seeing Su Ning here meant Fu Qingge had missed his chance to claim the treasure chest.
His gaze instinctively turned to where the treasure chest had been—indeed, it was now empty.
A bitter smile crossed Fu Qingge’s face. He politely congratulated her, “Congratulations!”
Su Ning smiled in return. “Thank you. And congratulations to you on successfully completing your job advancement.”
Though Fu Qingge didn’t get the treasure chest, the benefits of his job upgrade were still substantial.
After that, Su Ning headed straight to the advanced breeding area.
There were ten large ranches here, guarded much more tightly. Without the appropriate level as a breeder, the guardians wouldn’t allow entry.
Upon arriving at her designated Emerald Bee farm, Su Ning noticed a plot of land emitting a strange and wondrous glow.
Curious, she asked the Moko tribe member guiding her, “What is being raised over there? Why is it glowing like that?”
The Moko tribesman replied evasively, “That’s a treasure of the Moko tribe. It’s not your concern—don’t ask.”
Just as Su Ning was about to question further, she suddenly remembered something—the player who had been killed on the first day had stolen a Starfruit. At the time, the guardian said it was one of their treasures.
Now, the glowing attraction of that fruit in the farm was unmistakable and extremely tempting.
Not only that, but the guardians around it were much stricter than anywhere else.
“Starfruit, huh…” Su Ning muttered to herself. Just knowing that the fruit could awaken new talents made her heart burn with desire. She wished she could pocket it immediately.
She was fully aware that her survival until now had been entirely thanks to her Scavenger talent.
A good talent was vital in a survival game—it could protect you and drastically increase your chances of living.
But she also knew that the Starfruit before her was not something she could obtain easily.
Upon entering the Emerald Bee farm, the scenery was entirely different from the Meaty Chicken farm.
Here, Su Ning no longer had to return to the dormitory to rest each day—she could live directly on the farm.
A gigantic tree stood at the center—tall and imposing, its branches thick with leaves.
Hanging from its limbs were numerous Emerald Bee hives.
Each hive resembled a small castle, suspended between the branches—both strange and beautiful.
Beneath the tree was a sea of multicolored flowers.
Bright and vibrant blooms competed with each other in beauty, releasing a sweet and intoxicating fragrance.
Not only were the flowers beautiful, but they also attracted countless Emerald Bees to collect nectar.
Su Ning’s job was to take care of these flowers and bees, ensuring their healthy growth.
Since she had just arrived in this new environment, she hadn’t yet received any specific tasks.
She decided to use this downtime to examine the other items she had obtained from the treasure chest.
“Finally, a moment to rest!” Su Ning said excitedly.
She eagerly opened her backpack and began examining the mysterious items.
First up: the Title
[Breeder Title]: When equipped, the growth rate of animals and plants increases by 50%. Creatures under your care are more likely to obey you!
When she saw the Breeder Title, Su Ning’s eyes lit up.
This title was incredibly useful to her!
Whether in-game or in real life, it could increase the growth speed of plants by 50%.
Even more impressively, it allowed animals she raised to better obey her commands.
This ability would make her work much more efficient.
“This is a powerful title—very useful to me,” Su Ning thought happily.
Not only did it hold high value in the game, but it could also be extraordinary in the real world.
With it, she could raise plants and animals much faster and yield more results.
The thought brought a smile to her face.
However, she soon began to ponder another question.
“I wonder how I can obtain other titles? Are they only available through treasure chests, or are there other ways in the dungeons?” Su Ning thought to herself.
Then, her attention turned to the pill in her hand.
The pill glowed faintly, as if containing some mysterious power.
She examined it closely:
[Enhancement Pill]: Increases one of the user’s talents. There is an 80% chance of upgrading that talent!
Seeing the pill’s effect, Su Ning was astonished.
“It can actually upgrade a talent?”
“So talents really can be upgraded.”
Without hesitation, Su Ning swallowed the Enhancement Pill.
The pill melted in her mouth, and before she felt any physical effects, a system notification chimed in her ear:
[Ding! Congratulations, your talent ‘Scavenger’ has been upgraded.]
[Scavenger has gained a new ability!]
Su Ning immediately opened her status screen:
[Player: Su Ning]
Talent: Scavenger
Ability 1: Scavenger’s Eye – Grants sharp eyes capable of identifying items.
Ability 2: Scavenger Backpack – Provides a mysterious spatial inventory that can hold various items.
Ability 3: Scavenger’s Venom – Allows manipulation of poisons; grants immunity to most toxins and the ability to absorb them to strengthen her own poison.
Skill: Perfect Aim
Su Ning looked over her profile.
Thanks to the pill, her Scavenger talent had not only improved its existing abilities but also unlocked a completely new one.
Her Scavenger Backpack now had twice the capacity—it used to be nearly full from collecting so many items, but now she had plenty of space.
Scavenger’s Eye had evolved to include a zoom-in function, almost like a telescope or an eagle’s eye.
More importantly, the Scavenger talent now had offensive power.
Scavenger’s Venom was a straightforward but powerful effect. It gave her an offensive ability, made her immune to poisons, and allowed her to manipulate toxins to attack enemies.
And based on its description, she could absorb different toxins to enhance this talent further.
After reviewing all the details, Su Ning could barely hold back her excitement—she was eager to test it out.
