Chapter 166: Butt on Fire, Mind Control
Yan Liuxing was hiding within the gathered crowd, eyes fixed ahead, a smug smile playing on his lips.
He was very confident in his plan. He knew that even the famed Tang Yuanbin and the well-known Mu Feiyu, who possessed appraisal abilities, wouldn’t be able to see through his disguise.
After all, he had acquired an extremely powerful item during a survival dungeon adventure — the Heavenly Mystery Lock.
It was a mysterious golden necklace, shaped like an eyeball and containing immense power.
This item could shroud fate and conceal one’s presence, rendering any detection or appraisal ability completely useless against its wearer.
“Haha! No matter how powerful your Appraisal skill is, how could it possibly beat a rule-type artifact?” Yan Liuxing muttered smugly to himself.
Originally, Yan Liuxing hadn’t planned to act against Shelter No. 6 so soon.
But an urgent piece of news changed everything.
Apparently, Shelter No. 12 had already been taken over by a gang of lawless thugs. Their new leader now had his eyes set on the next target—Shelter No. 6, known for its rich food supply.
This fertile, prosperous shelter had long been coveted.
Faced with this development, Yan Liuxing had no choice but to speed up his plans.
If he delayed, he might lose the advantage.
This was the apocalypse—a world ravaged by disasters and madness, where even supernatural survival games were now a reality.
“If I don’t seize the opportunity to build my own power, how could I be satisfied?” he muttered.
He sighed in regret:
“It’s just a shame… If my brother were still alive, with his mental control powers, we wouldn’t even need to lift a finger to destroy the shelter. He could’ve taken over without spilling a drop of blood.”
His older brother had perished during a survival dungeon. Their original grand plan had fallen apart before it could be executed.
Together, the brothers had the strength to conquer a shelter—but his brother vanished too soon, undoubtedly falling prey to the survival game.
“No matter. Once night falls, my little ‘children’ will be ready. By then, this entire shelter will be mine!”
A grin returned to his face at the thought.
But just as he basked in triumph—
A sharp voice shouted near his ear:
“Hey! Little Fire Meow, stop running off! You’ve still got work to do! And stop spitting fire randomly!”
Before Yan Liuxing could react—
Searing pain erupted on his butt.
“Hm?!”
He suddenly felt a burning sensation on his rear. Looking down, he saw smoke and flames rising from the seat of his pants!
Panicked, he immediately jumped up, trying to put the fire out.
But the flames had already burned a large hole in his pants.
The crowd around him quickly took notice.
Everyone turned to stare at the man whose butt had just caught on fire.
However, Yan Liuxing wasn’t too worried. No one could recognize him anyway.
He had never revealed his true face to anyone, and with the Heavenly Mystery Lock, his presence and features were perfectly concealed.
So even with all eyes on him, he remained unfazed.
What he didn’t expect, however, was that someone had used the Jinx skill to bring him this misfortune.
From a distance, Su Ning spotted the thin man with the flaming rear.
She narrowed her eyes:
“Is that the guy I’ve been looking for?”
She immediately activated her Scavenger’s Eye, attempting to check his profile and confirm his identity.
But what popped up in front of her was only:
[??]
Su Ning was stunned.
“What? Again? I can’t see his info—just like with Kurohit!”
But this man didn’t feel like the same kind of existence as Kurohit.
That meant something else was concealing his information.
Still, Su Ning was certain of his identity.
Even though she had never seen Yan Liuxing, she had seen Yan Liuming before—and the two were clearly twins.
Although they might differ slightly in expression or demeanor, they looked nearly identical.
“Even if I can’t view his info, this has to be Yan Liuxing. He’s probably carrying an item that hides him from detection.”
Su Ning smirked.
And once again, Jinx had proven its worth.
She’d already used it before to kill people, bypassing all logic and directly manipulating causality.
Now she used it to track someone, and it worked like a charm.
If Yan Liuxing ever found out this was how he got exposed, he’d probably want to slam his head into a wall.
Meanwhile, the woman yelling earlier—Jiang Nana—stood frozen, awkwardly watching Yan Liuxing deal with his burning pants.
Though he’d quickly extinguished the flames, Little Fire Meow’s fire had already burned a huge hole, leaving his white butt exposed for all to see.
Yan Liuxing’s face was pitch black with fury, but he forced himself to stay calm. He quickly pulled out a blanket from his inventory to cover his rear.
Jiang Nana, though apologetic on the outside, was laughing uncontrollably inside.
“Oh my god, I swear I didn’t mean for that to happen! How was I supposed to know Little Fire Meow would suddenly go rogue and spit fire?!”
Still, she kept a sincere face and apologized:
“Sir, I’m so sorry! Are you hurt? Also, I swear I didn’t see your… you-know-what. So there’s no need to feel embarrassed!”
Yan Liuxing:
“Do you even hear yourself?!”
Veins popped on his forehead, but he forced a smile and replied politely:
“I’m fine. But young lady, please keep a better eye on your pet. I was lucky—it only singed me a bit. But what if it had injured someone else?”
Jiang Nana nodded furiously, apologizing again:
“You’re absolutely right! I’m so sorry!”
Just as the incident seemed to blow over—
Su Ning decided it was time to make her move.
She suddenly jumped into the scene, standing beside Yan Liuxing and Jiang Nana.
Feigning concern, she looked at Yan Liuxing:
“Sir! You got burned? You should get treated right away—what if it causes lasting damage?”
Startled by her sudden appearance, Yan Liuxing instinctively took a step back and replied:
“It’s really not necessary.”
Su Ning patted her chest and gave a reassuring smile:
“Don’t worry! I’m a medical professional. Of course I’d know if it’s serious! You should always listen to your doctor.”
As she spoke, her eyes flashed briefly with a purple glow—
[Mind Control] activated!
She directly interfered with Yan Liuxing’s mind, forcing him to comply for a short time.
The resistance in his eyes faded instantly.
“Oh? Is it really that serious? Alright, doc, please take a look—I don’t want to risk any long-term effects!”
Without further hesitation, Yan Liuxing followed Su Ning away.
Leaving behind a dumbfounded Jiang Nana, still holding her pet.
Jiang Nana:
“Huh? Isn’t this a bit much? His butt looked totally fine—what kind of treatment does it need?!”
Little Fire Meow:
“Has my flame grown so powerful that it can melt fate itself?!”
